CNS Consul Report #19 - November 25th, 2006

I know I haven't been on IRC much, for various reasons. Originally it was meant to be a break, but I haven't been on IRC in the past day because for some reason Ubuntu will not recognize my password, and it hasn't for the past three weeks and I can't update my Ubuntu without my password. So, I thought I'd reinstall from scratch. Unfortunately, I have the CD for Ubuntu 5.10, and the current version is 6.10, and there have been some snags along the way. Not to mention, the current install dialog box says "1 hour remaining", and then I come back an hour later and it says "50 minutes remaining." What's with that? It's driving me nuts.

Update: I started writing this about six hours ago, then went out to meet some old friends, and then came back, and the upgrade is complete. Ubuntu looks really nice now. It's not set up exactly the way I want it, but it's 95% there.

1. Manesh's Reports 101
   

My last Consul report spawned a rather mean response from somebody, and some of you were wondering why I didn't "retaliate" or something similar. Well, I primarily didn't say anything because I was curious who'd come to my defense, or who'd "get" what I was trying to say, and thankfully several of you did.

There's been a bit of discussion about what "leadership" is. Well, from my own experience, I follow leaders who come off as, well, human. And that is why I pour my heart out to you guys in every report I write. If I'm feeling good or if I'm feeling bad then you know it. Sometimes I have good weeks, sometimes I have bad weeks, sometimes the clan has good weeks, sometimes the clan has bad weeks.

Someone accused me of being a bad leader. I find that funny, because in response I could be a huge jackass, talking about all of my accomplishments, but that would be slightly out of character for me.

1. CNS Prospectus
   

I would like to note that several members worked on the CNS Prospectus, including Tron, Goatham, Macron, and Lanius Sin. I sent the link over to Jac and he loved it, and yes, it's a work in progress, but check it out. If you click on our systems gallery, Lanius Sin created some neat pictures and stuff. I should also note that as of a few days ago, ours was the longest Prospectus by far (bah, CSP beat us, but whatever), and only three out of the six clans had even done any significant work on theirs.

1. Promotions
   

A lot of promotions went through mostly at the lower levels.

Ruluk Okoth was promoted to Jedi Hunter! Yay!

Vladek was also promoted to Jedi Hunter! Hooray!

1. House Feud
   

House feud moving along. Slowly. Don't forget to participate. I figure by the time it's done, any participation in the House Feud will greatly help with possible promotions and medals. It'll be like after the GJW, but on a smaller scale obviously. Yeah.

1. Gaming
   

In last Saturday's ICTE, Schisca got 1 CF.

For the Tuesday Gaming Night, Kinilus got 4 CFs, and Ty'Real got 2 CFs. Whoa, these are new names, and they're gaming. This is wonderful.

For the Thursday Gaming Night, Kinilus got 4 CFs, Raven got 2 CFs, Ty'real got 2 CFs, and I got 1 CF. I know, not much gaming on my end.

However, I can say that I participated a lot in today's ICTE, so prepare to be blown away next week. I need 78 CFs to reach my goal of 1000. I know you're all so excited to see if I'll make it to 1000 CFs by the end of the year.

1. Conclusion
   

It's been kind of a slow week for me at least. Since everybody else is focused on the House Feud, I'm taking this time to work on my 1000 CFs goal. I think I got at least 22 CFs today, so that brings me down to 56 remaining, and I have about six more weekends to do it, so I don't think it'll be that big of a deal.

My IRL situation has gotten slightly bad (well, more like annoying) in the past two weeks, so I'm still trying to sort that stuff out. But yeah, if I wasn't doing the regular DB activities, I'd have gone insane.

Oh Three's Company, what a wonderful show.
