CNS Consul Report #35 - March 18th, 2007

Hi guys. This is going to be a more "Rite of Supremacy" focused report, but there are few other topics, so be sure to read the whole report, because this club doesn't revolve around DB-wide competitions. Or, it shouldn't. You try telling that to the other clans.

Total CON Emails: 33

  1. Rite of Supremacy Events

Okay, so CNS isn't exactly coming off to an awesome start, but that's okay. We might not do well in this Rite of Supremacy, but that's okay. But all that I ask is that our members try. In this GJW, participation does mean something, and that is something that I misinterpreted in the scoring initially. There are five events:

Gaming: If any of you can game a little bit, I would appreciate that. Despite losing two great gamers over the last year, we're not in last, at least...for now.

Battleplan: This is being handled by the Conclave. I hope they're making progress on it, since it's due on the 20th.

Debate: I hope Mifune and his team are making progress. It's due tonight.

Fiction: The fiction event has been changed slightly. Now there is a three page minimum, instead of a 5 page minimum. That should encourage more of you to participate in this event.

ACC: I've seen two ACC matches completed. We're a strong ACC clan, so I hope that legions of you are participating in ACC matches. These are short ACC matches, so they shouldn't be too time consuming.

  1. Asking For Help

A few of you have emailed me personally asking questions about the Rite of Supremacy. That's fine, but I would prefer if you email as many members of the summit as you can. This is because I work a full-time job and have other responsibilities in my real life, and I might not be around quickly enough to respond in a timely fashion. The more people you email, the more likely you will be that someone will happen to be online and will be able to respond to your emails.

  1. Crescents

Tons of crescents were given out this week. I just wanted to point that out.

  1. Promotions

Hoo boy, what a week for promotions.

Corin was promoted to Dark Jedi Knight. Hooray!

Kaelin Ring was promoted to Dark Jedi Knight. Yippie!

Tyren was promoted to Jedi Hunter. Yay!

Mind you, Rite of Supremacy or not, this clan will still focus on our new members, trying to get them promoted through the ranks, because I know how much getting that lightsaber means to a lot of you. Remember, I created the promotion spreadsheet for GRD => JH and JH => DJK. So if you're a Guardian or Jedi Hunter, ask your favorite summit member, and they'll get you a copy of the spreadsheet. It's an awesome spreadsheet, because I made it.

Also, it should be obvious that participation, no matter how crappy it is, is looked highly upon in this clan. If you're a journeyman, we'll take your participation into account.

  1. Medals

I got a Grand Cross (GC). Heh. It was the pick-me-up I needed, and will keep me high until the cold bitter reality that is the DB comes back to haunt me. Hah. But yeah, I appreciate all of your statements in the medal rec. Means a lot to me.

Oh, and Ashia Kagan got an Anteian Cross (AC). Yay!

  1. Gaming

While there's a bunch of gaming going on for the Rite of Supremacy, there's also the ORW. Well, based on what I can see today, DB members (with the exception of ever-faithful Vladek) have abandoned the ORW effort, because of the Rite of Supremacy...because DB members seem to care about their inter-clan competitions than their inter-club competitions. That's a sahme. As I've mentioned a million times, I'd rather have ORWs than GJWs. Oh, an Vladek got 8 CFs for last weekend's ORW.

  1. Conclusion

I've spent the last couple of days really examining this club. In fact, I've spent the last couple of weeks doing that. I've been asking myself questions, that I sometimes pose to you in these CON reports. "What's really important in this club?" Is it winning DB-wide competitions? Yeah, that would be nice, but it might not happen, and I have to learn to deal with that. I don't like being a competitive person, but I guess my desire in all of this is to let the rest of the DB know that CNS is a tight-knit, well-run, friendly clan. The funny thing is, a lot of us don't have a lot in common, and probably wouldn't be friends with each other in real life, but somehow we manage to get along, for the most part. People who don't seem to get along end up leaving.

CNS needs to make a statement to the DB. "This is who we are, and this is what we believe in, and this is what we like." It is unfortunate that we are perceived differently than I see this clan. I can't believe we've been considered a "mini-Tarentum." Seriously, I just heard about that a couple of days ago.
