Proconsul Report #5:

My friends,

Again, my report is a few days late. I wanted to wait until I had a few things finished, namely the RO and the Clan Trials system. Both will be outlined below.

Comps:

The RO is now over. The fictional conclusion can be located here:

http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4767&st=40&p=172275&#entry172275

The results are as follows:

I’m satisfied with the participation for this RO. We got a decent story out of it, and it served its purpose of getting everyone to know each other. However, the next RO will have better participation – I’ll make sure. You all wrote well and grammatically and technically I have few quibbles – none worth mentioning here and marring a good RO.

However, those that showed themselves to be better in their field are the following:

Kieran,

You’re ‘winning’ this RO, though I always find it irritating to award medals for an event that’s essentially teamwork and carrying on an ongoing story. Your psots were well-written, had flare and kept the plot shifting along. Well done, mate.

Illian:

You’re getting second place. You exploded onto the RO with an originality and natural style I’ve not seen in a while, and despite an icy reception from some members that should know better you kept plugging away at it. Good effort. My only suggestion would be that you try to keep your character sheet in mind, and also not stray too far from the boundaries of realism (this can be accomplished by thoroughly researching your subject matter before writing). With more RO’s, I’m sure you’ll improve to godly status.

Quejo:

You’re getting Third. You’re a solid writer and don’t need me to tell you that – you consistently posted and revelled in your character’s unique charm =P Keep it up man.

The top three participants will be receiving 4th level crescents for their efforts. Well done, guys.

Tasks:

I’ve been pottering about with the Arcona OOB wiki and I’m satisfied with the fleet so far – it’s messy and needs finishing, but we have all of our cap-ships up. I’ll continue working on this as and when I get the chance.

I’ve worked up a copy of the Clan Trials, which every JH will have to go through before they can reach DJK. It’s been on the back-burner for a while now, and I’ve included it below:

Clan Arcona Trials

Welcome, young one, to the Trials. To advance further in rank, you will be tested in what you’ve learned. The First Trial is known as the Trial of Skill. Your Master will choose a task unique to you that best tests your weakest area. Each Trial is unique to the student and often the most difficult of the three trials, as it will be specifically aimed at your weakest area. The Second Trial is set by the House Summit, and is always the same; Facing the Mirror. You must face your own inner demons before you can hope to fight like a demon, and your clan expects nothing less than the most fierce, determined warriors. We are renowned for it. The Third and Final Trial is again standard – The Sacrifice. The Sith and Dark Jedi as a whole have long held the practice of sacrificing something truly important to ones’ heart before truly embarking on a path of darkness, and to truly be a Knight of Arcona, one must surrender attachment and give themselves to the shadows.

N.B. it is also expected that an apprentice construct his lightsaber prior to beginning the trials and whilst not considered a trial in itself, it is prerequisite to becoming a Knight of Arcona.

Master’s Trial – The Trial of Skill.

The Master’s Trial is designed to make sure that the student is well rounded. If they’re more suited to scholastic pursuits, then the Trial chosen by the master will be more physical than cerebral. Likewise, if they tend to avoid the innate mysteries of the force, then their master shall drive them into them and out of the other side changed in an effort to produce better soldiers for Arcona. The Master is the sole judge of whether their student has passed the trial, and only once they have passed the Master’s trial can they progress.

House Trial – Facing the Mirror.

Often one of the most traumatic of the trials, this play’s to the apprentices’ strength, and then pits them against their strongest suit. Often, this can take the form of an ACC battle against their master or a high ranking member of the House or some other form of duel if the apprentice is more suited to the more physical aspects of battle. It does not matter if the apprentice wins or loses – this is a measure of strength and only the QUA/AED can say if they have passed.

Clan Trial – The Sacrifice.

Attachment can cloud perceptions, values, senses. To be a Knight of Arcona, one must be unclouded, clear in perceptiveness, know in what hierarchy their values are to be structured, and have the common sense to fight when they can win and flee when they cannot. The Clan Trial is set before the apprentice will involve them sacrificing something or someone closest to them – whatever they value most they must give up. A detailed report is expected. Only once the apprentice has passed all three trials are they granted the title of ‘Knight of Arcona.’

RL:

Uni is seriously heating up now. I have two essay deadlines in the next 48 hours, and a further 3 on the way over the next week or so. If I’m not around as much, that’s why. Also, it appears I suck at bowling. Galeres’ QUA and myself were part of a big bunch of people that went bowling on Tuesday night. Said QUA was drunk. Yet, despite this obvious disability, the little sod was still able to easily double my score – however the gutter wasn’t helping. I, having not touched a drop all evening, was able to sink no less than 10 consecutive balls into the gutter, maintaining a constant score of around 31 for most of the first game. Worryingly however, I was not the one that came last =P

As always, if you have any comments or questions, get back to me on IRC or via [Log in to view e-mail addresses].

Thanks Arcona,

Sashar
