Consul Report

Greetings all, to a special edition of the clan notes,

The time has come to start the clan story arc. So, without further ado, I present to you chapter 1 of the overall story: http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5807

As previously noted, Cestus' run-on will be kicking things off, but I did want to answer a few of the questions I have received about this:

How do the house and clan level events fit together? Why is Cestus' run-on considered the "starting point?"

The story arc will be told in parts, with clan events being the major events. However, house level events may provide important details or events that influence the rest of the story. It is up to your house summits to create and run these, though I will definitely help them out with fitting it into the story. Regarding Cestus' run-on, the story being told is still primarily for Cestus, as Ronovi and her team designed it. However, some events that transpire in that run-on will be carried forward as part of the plotline for the story arc. Not all will, of couse, because they may not need to. Cestus' run-on that starts Sunday is simply the first house event to be a part of this; Gladius or Tridens could have easily gotten the "first" event, too.

Will there be Necromancy? What if I don't like/am thoroughly confused by necromancy in the clan?

Yes, some of the story will touch on necromancy. Actually, a good bit of it will, but it is by no means required that your character be involved with it to participate. If you don't like it, that's perfectly fine. In fact, that could turn out to work very well.; And if you're confused, we can work on that. BF and Oberst are great sources, and BF has started creating an encyclopedia of sorts for the clan for necromancy. Also, in general, I will compile questions and post a FAQ thread on the clan message board if needed. Definitely check out the wiki articles for some extra information.

Will other clans be involved?

At this time, I have e-mailed the Arcona summit about getting them involved down the road, but we have to reach that part of the story first, if they agree.

How will this affect battleteam, house, clan, and DB-wide competitions?

Battleteams and houses are still free to run as many competitions as they wish. While I would encourage that they stay away from very serious events (unless we tie them into the story), this is not an explicit requirement. Small, fun events are still optional and encouraged. All clan competitions will be related to the story arc. As for DB events, they will not affect this story arc in anyway. My goal, of course, is to have this wrapped up before any major DB events (rites of supremacy and GJWs) happen again. From a fictional perspective, all of these events run back to back, so if we end up having to delay things, we can do some easy time adjustment.

How will I learn about all the events, especially those that are part of just one house competition?

The story posting on the message board will reflect events in the story. However, summit reports will, at the very least, recap what happened, if they don't have full blown fictional (in character) sections relating events. And, of course, even if you can post in another house's run-on, you can still read it.

If you have any questions, please contact me. I will, however, say this. While all this sounds somewhat complicated, it really isn't. In short, all we're doing is running a whole series of competitions. Each competition will be stand alone, but they will also tie into a larger story.

Thanks, and good luck,

~AK

(ps- I will be updating the clan mailing list Monday so we can use that; I have not yet updated it after the AWOL check)
