Consul Report

<small>(Click the report header to see Wally in fancy dress as... wait for it... a Jew-dai. That's right, a Jewish Jedi. Oh how I love that man.)</small>

Welcome to another issue of the Arcona Consul Report! Before I start, I just want to apologise for the lack of a report last month - I've been hella busy, and I thought that the Independence Games really rather spoke for themselves. Either way, I hope you enjoyed your experience during the Independence Games. I want to just take a moment to thank the wonderful James Lucius Entar Arconae and the sheep-lover that is Solari (AKA Windex) for their hard work in making the Independence Games happen. Without these two, we wouldn't have had such a smooth event, we wouldn't have been able to utilise the new site's cool new features, and we would likely be waiting until the next IGs to receive the results. Thank you, gentlemen!

Now, in this report I'm going to be detailing everything you guys need to know about the upcoming Chapter of the Dark Crusade (Phase I, Chapter III), I'll be going over a little of what is to be expected come June, I'm going to formally introduce our new battleteam leaders, and I'll be acknowledging a few individuals who have really impressed myself and the other members of the summit in recent months. Sound good? Sweet. Let's rock 'n' roll.

The Dark Crusade - Phase I, Chapter III

IT BEGINS TOMORROW!

Here we have it, the third and final chapter of Phase I. And, if you didn't quite catch it, we start Friday 17th May, which is tomorrow! Honestly, it doesn't seem like a month ago that we were simply discussing the idea of the Dark Crusade, let alone having Arcona dominate two months of it. Yet, here we are. Arcona stands tall. Two Chapters. Two consecutive record-breaking participation numbers. One planet dominated. And now? An Arconan victory in the Independence Games. You guys are simply sublime.

This round we go up against House Odan-Urr and House Scholae Palatinae for the planet Barghebba! Yes, I know this link provides little to no information about the planet, but don't worry, we'll get all the necessary information when the Crusade begins.

So, what to expect in this third and final Chapter of Phase I? Well, it will be exactly the same as the last two Chapters, inasmuch as scoring will be completely participation-based. As with each and every round, the number of members in a unit will be the determining factor of how many submissions will be required to meet a certain level. HOWEVER (<small>and this is where it starts to get interesting</small>), unlike the last two Chapters, the participation rate in this third Chapter of Phase I will determine whether a unit receives a 9th member (or, 'attachment') to their Special Forces team for July and Phase II. Units must meet a participation rate of 1.5 or more to receive this 9th member. That means, if there are fifty members in a unit and that unit has a collective total of 100 entries, the participation rate will be 2 (i.e., two entries per member) - obviously securing said unit their 9th member. However, given the nature of the Brotherhood, and the fact that there is only one AWOL check a year, a unit's membership number will inevitably increase over time. For example, whilst Arcona had 70-odd members at the start of the last Chapter of the Crusade back in April, we are now sitting pretty at 82 members. That means, to achieve the 1.5 participation rate, Arcona needs to secure 123 entries this time round. To put that into perspective, that is 7 entries more than our participation in Chapter I of Phase I. Moreover, what will occur is that members will join the Brotherhood during this event. That means, membership numbers increase during the event. To alleviate the pressures on units with this increasing number, the Dark Council take every unit's 'starting' and 'ending' number of members, and then find the mean between them. That means, say we have 4 members join, increasing our membership to 86, we will be divided by the middle number (84) to find our participation level. With that in mind, I have projected that we need at least 130 entries in order to safely establish a base participation rate of 1.5. Of course, that should not be a problem for you overachievers, given that we won Rhelg with 160-odd entries.

I will say right now that I highly doubt every unit will achieve this kind of participation rate, which is why it isa vital that we do. Not only does it provide another individual with a chance to really showcase their talents in the 'big league', but it will also be an invaluable asset when it comes to scoring points and winning planets. Is is thus imperative that we achieve this goal. Not that I doubt Arcona's ability (you guys have demonstrated time and time again this year that you are dedicated, devoted, talented and passionate), but I think how important this may be as a deciding factor in later rounds may be lost on some. Think of this as the Crusade's equivalent of a 'Get Out Of Jail Free' card. That 9th member will provide valuable points to the Arconan team, and could even write the winning fiction of a particular category, giving us just enough points to secure a planet, for example.

I know I sent out an extremely long email detailing what Phase II would look like, but that begins in July. For the moment, focus on smashing that 1.5 marker, pour all your efforts into securing Barghebba for Arcona.

I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but I know every single one of you is capable and willing. Last Chapter we saw the journeymen set the example, and watched the Equites try to play catch up. This is what makes Arcona fantastic, this is what defines us. We can press on with continued purpose, regardless of rank and position, all for the belief in the clan. We're unique in that respect - we aren't lead by a small group of elites, we're not carried by heavy-hitters; every single member pulls their weight, and every single members gives 110% for the clan. That's beyond humbling for every single member of the summit, and it should make you feel proud to be among people who do the same. Let's continue on and do ourselves proud once again. I know I'll be out there fighting for Arcona, and I'm certain you will all join me.

June - The Break

I just figured I'd include a little something about what's happening during June so that you all don't charge into war against... well, no one. That's right, June's a break month. And yes, I did just hear 82 members release one huge sigh of relief.

June will see us have a well-earned break from the Dark Crusade and any other Brothehood-wide competition. That means we can have a little 'Arcona-time'. We can look inwards, and begin to work on sculpting ourselves - something that has been denied to us in recent months. In this respect, whilst we've got a little lull, if any of you have an ideas for competitions, for edits to histories, even for simple wiki projects, don't hesitate to give myself, Wally and the QUAs/AEDs a shout; we'll be happy to see any ideas you have come to life.

That also brings me to another key point: between the evening of the 2nd to the day of the 15th, I will be travelling. And by travelling, I mean I'm due to arrive in New York on the 3rd, and I'll be leaving on the 14th. I'll be staying with Wally, so both of us will, for all intents and purposes, be out for the count on most Brotherhood-related issues. Of course, we'll still be contactable via email, but for the most part we'll be out wining, dining and shopping. Whilst all this fun and tomfoolery occurs, the Quaestors and the Aediles, with the guidance of the Arconae of course, will be stepping up their presence, and making themselves more readily available. They will be acting as the new CONPCON team in our absence, so treat them how you would treat us, and make sure you give them an easy time!

New Battleteam Leaders!

Firstly, I'd like you to all join me in welcoming our latest additions to the summit! Kalon Dane has stepped into the position of BTL of Dark Forge in the wake of Bron Vesh's departure. We look forward to everything he brings to the role! And, the infamous Dash has returned to take up the leadership in the recently re-opened Soulfire Strike Team. Good job, Dash - we look forward to seeing SF kicking ass once again.

Whilst these two know their way round Arcona's darkest, deepest alleys (<small>giggity</small>), that does not mean to say we're not trying to get new blood into the works. Both Atyiru and S'nar have both stepped into the roles of Second in Command (2IC) in Dark Forge and Soulfire respectively. The clan summit is extremely interested in seeing how talent develops, and with the current surge of journeyman activity, we are all very anxious to see some leadership talent come out of the woodwork. Think you have what it takes? Make us aware. Show us what you can do. You won't go overlooked or unrewarded.

A few bits and bobs...

Blarex, for his promotion to Dark Jedi Knight, so very kindly offered to compile a list of all the members and their accolades/participation for the recent two Chapters of the Dark Crusade. I figured this would be of interest to some, so please find it at the following link:

Arcona Crusade Standing

If you look at the top you can see two tabs. Switch between these tabs to see participation as well as cumulative Novae. To everyone on that list, I expect great things from you next Chapter! To Blarex, thank you for compiling such an informative and useful list!

I would also like to convey a message from our glorious Proconsul thanking everyone for their participation in the Antei Contract Bureau during the IGs. Its popularity went far beyond anything we could've expected, and we'd like to say that it was you guys that helped make it happen. Thank you for your effort, and we'll be releasing a lot more to do with the ACB in the months to follow!

Recognition and Awards

Okay, the first port of call is for the Independence Games. And our champion? None other than Kalon Dane. This man put on a show, and what a fantastic show it was. He really pushed the boundaries of what was achievable and demonstrated unequivocally that he is a prominent and rising star in our clan and that he deserves recognition. On behalf of Arcona, I want to say a huge congratulations, thank you, and well done! You've made every single one of us proud; you've grown into a bastion of the Brotherhood, and you have only yourself to thank for that. As promised in my last report, you will receive a Cythraul (<small>speak to Wally about how to start creating your Cythraul!</small>)! But that's not all... keep your eyes peeled for the other rewards coming to you very soon.

Andrelious Inahj, AKA Mark/`M has stepped up above and beyond expectation and secured himself a solid second place! This is a huge achievement for someone who is, for all intents and purposes, dedicated to helping the journeymen achieve their goals. I mean, this man spends hours a day working on new ways to aid and assist the journeymen, and then he manages to pull a second place finish overall in the IGs? Phenomenal. Massive congratulations to you, Mark. You also receive a Cythraul for your efforts and number of events in which you participated (<small>speak to Wally about how to start creating your Cythraul!</small>)! Much like Kalon, your rewards are in the post. Keep your eyes peeled!

I would also like to take a moment to congratulate Legorii Kryotek Entar on a solid fourth! Only 4 points away from making it a full Arconan top three. This is a huge feat for someone who is currently studying heavily at College. Massive well done, Legz! You've done fantastically well!

There were also others who performed exceptionally well during these IGs. Both Troutrooper and Atyiru Araave really pushed the boat out, securing 5th and 7th respectively, and securing an Arconan victory inasmuch as providing five out of the top ten. Massive congratulations to you guys, and thank you for all your hard work! Trouty, Atty, Legz; your medals are also in the post. Keep your eyes peeled!

Not only in the IGs have we had recent successes, however. I had a member come directly to me about a week ago to highlight the extreme lengths two members from our clan have gone to in order to ensure his continued development and success. He was extremely adamant that these two individuals be recognised for their work in helping him, and the other members of his unit. It was with honour that I subsequently requested that Cethgus Tiberius Entar Arconae and Atyiru Araave be awarded a Grand Cross of the Dark Side and a Dark Cross respectively. You can see the recommendations in the below box, but suffice it to say that these two have really gone above and beyond what we expect from our members. All I can say is thanks for your hard work.

Let us also not forget our latest Knighthoods: Morrighan, Liu'qin Vahn, K'tana, Blarex and Nath Voth have all reached the rank of Dark Jedi Knight in the last month or so! I'd like you to all join me in offering a HUGE congratulations to them!

Now, onto the bulk awards/promotions:

Awards

Wuntila Arconae got awarded a Amethyst Kukri on 5/13/2013 10:04:30 PM (<small>_April 13th, 2011; almost 3 years ago now. On that day, something amazing happened to Arcona. Having been granted out Clan Status back, our Aedile, Wuntila, became the first Proconsul of the new Clan Arcona. For almost 3 years now Wuntila has served Arcona as a figurehead. As a BTL being bumped up to Quaestor at the time, it was inspiring to see Wuntila take control of his position, no fear or timidness visible. He helped me become a true leader in this club, and it was from working with him that I am what I am today -- a respected leader. Wuntila's reign of betterment for Clan Arcona was recognized shortly after on July 7th, 2011 as he was awarded his first sacramental award; a Sapphire Blade.

Since that day, Wuntila has never stopped driving Arcona forward. As Proconsul, he continued to lead us into Great Jedi War X to our second victory, cementing Arcona as the First Clan of the Brotherhood. This was no fluke - this was true unity from a Clan consisting of multiple personalities and clashing egos. Consul Zandro Erinos and the rest of the Arcona Summit rallied around Wuntila. At the end of the War, Zandro stepped down, and Wuntila was selected to step forward and take over the helm of Clan Arcona.

Wuntila has been Consul for 16 months now. And it hasn't been an easy ride. Not by any means. As his Proconsul, I know better than anyone the trials and tribulations we've faced as both a team and a unit. We've fought against a past reputation of insulation, and worked towards opening relations with other units in the club. Aside from this dedication, in which he was awarded a promotion to Equite 4 already, Wuntila continued to strive forward for excellence. Right on the heels of the Horizons Vendetta, Wun went right to work on organizing and running the Beyond The Horizons: An Arcona-Plageuis Feud. Tasked with having this feud completed before the new year, Wun took it upon himself to make a website, pen the story, and eventually coming up with all of the events on his own due to a lack of competency from the leader of Plagueis (who was supposed to be assisting him in running it). Wuntila wanted everyone to be able to participate and have fun in this event, and shouldered everything himself - specifically denying myself and members of the Arconan Summit from helping and assisting him with the running of the Feud. Overall, the event garnered great participation across the board, and even went so far as to have Graphics drawn up to enhance the story - two of which featured members not just from Arcona, but Plagueis. By doing this, he made it so the story truly felt like a joint venture, and should have served as a brilliant joining point for two units to become allies.

After these events, Wuntila continued to lead the charge by creating a form to help organize members for their Run-On teams for the Dark Crusade: Prologue. Halfway through this event, Wuntila was struck with a CoJ case that will continue to be viewed as controversial even with the finality of the results. Most members would have quit. Most members would have cried or lashed out. Most members would have abandoned their Clan for selfish reasons. Wuntila did none of these. Through it all, Wuntila persevered.

Chapter 1 of the Dark Crusade kicked off as the Trial began. Wun did not despair, and continued to lead from the front lines, earning 3 Silver and 2 Bronze Novae. Arcona came in 2nd, but still managed a whomping 116 submissions, more than any other unit was able to muster. Following up on that, Wuntila rallied Arcona yet again in Chapter 2, garnering 162 entries from the Clan. I don't think you need a history book to understand how much of an achievement that is. If there is any doubt that Arcona would be where it was without Wuntila...let that number stand as testament.

Of course, this exposition covers his attributes as a leader of a clan. I am yet to describe what he's done outside of his endeavors in the clan. Wuntila has been a constant outside of the clan, also. During Horizons, he and Timeros spent 9 hours formatting and organizing the team sign-up sheet for the Horizons run-on. They did this so that Horizons could be launched on time. He has done numerous other small tasks in the Voice office, compiling run-on PDFs, writing forms, and compiling results. He does all this in the background just because he wants to help. Then we have his tenure within the ACC. He was a consistent member of the judging staff to the point where he was promoted to an Operator. He was then responsible for training up new members of staff, as he did with Socorra and Alaris. Wuntila then stepped up when the ACC saw a number of judges unable to grade during Horizons. Halcyon specifically asked for Wuntila's help, and he judged a number of the Horizons ACC matches. Its this kind of dedication he's displayed whilst running the Brotherhood's most successful unit. He has also now stepped up to assist the Seneschal as a magistrate, testing features of the upcoming new site.

Wuntila has continued on his mission to go down in history as the best Consul the Brotherhood has ever seen. I'm a believe in this, because I've watched him continue on with his work despite anything that is thrown at him. In the past month alone, he has been active in making sure Arcona has stayed vigilant by leading by example from the front lines as well as through regular Clan e-mails and motivational and informative speeches and reports.

There is not a single leader in this club who puts as much heart and effort into his job as Wuntila Arconae. For this, and his perpetual dedication to Arcona and the Brotherhood, I am honored to award him with an Amethyst Kukri.

-Marick Arconae, Proconsul Clan Arcona

<bow>

Wuntila Arconae has one singular goal, one lone project that he works on every day: the betterment of Clan Arcona. Yes, other Consuls work to improve their Clan. But no one--no Consul I have ever seen or worked with--compares to Wuntila.

I could cite the many victories Arcona has accumulated under his leadership. I could cite the burgeoning membership numbers. But those are results, secondary bonuses that derive from the hard work Wuntila does everyday. He has built--along with his Proconsul--a dynasty, one that might rival Taldryan's decade of dominance. His devotion to Arcona is palpable. He loves all members--from us DJMs down to the newest Initiates--and wants only to see that they come to love Arcona as he does.

Successful by all measures. Tis unfortunate he has been stymied regarding rank promotion as he could...should have been an elder by the end of the year. Still, honors and recognition must be given to those who have given so much of themselves to us. Wuntila is such an individual. In my mind, this award is wholly and unquestionably deserved.

<bow>

-DJM Troutrooper

Sam embodies leadership, everything from his demeanor, his dedication, his ability to organize events, his patience to teach, even his recc writing abilities all demonstrate his amazing leadership qualities. He leads from the front in every DB-wide event, taking the time to write brilliant rally speeches, assist members in their competition entries, hours on end talking to folks in IRC, and of course, writing and creating his own Novae-worthy entries. In the downtime, Sam is always actively keeping members interested in the DB, making sure the Houses aren't stagnant and there is plenty to do, either with competitions or renovations, constantly bringing the Houses of Arcona together in some positive fashion.

These qualities apply outside of Arcona as well. On the ACC Staff, I witnessed the dedication Sam had for providing a fun and fair atmosphere for the rest of the DB through this venue, by not only judging matches, but by training other judges and providing insight to the staff for rules and events. I have also seen the numerous times that Sam has offered assistance to other units, even direct rivals in the vendettas, in order to help bring about a united Brotherhood, as well as offering to judge DB events, forgoing his own potential competition awards in order to do so. On the Forum as Tribune I needed a guinea pig to test out a brand new structure for the units, and he volunteered Arcona's many, many boards without even blinking, knowing it was possible that they could be quite messed up as a result. Thankfully they weren't, and it worked so well, that the rest of the units followed suit and the forum is looking a thousand times better.

Sam has been Consul during my entire tenure on the Arcona Summit, and there have been some ups and downs, but frankly I wouldn't be the leader I am today without him. I don't think any of us would be. The leadership qualities listed above apply to every one of us, because Sam takes the time to teach us them, either directly (and sometimes painstakingly) or by example. That is, however, merely par for the course for Sam. He goes above and beyond to help make the DB a fun place to play and make friends. He embodies leadership. Dedication. Talent. He leads from the front, he leads by example, and he leads with his heart. I hope this award tells him just how much and how positive his efforts are appreciated by all of us, as well as the long-lasting friendships that he creates.

There once was a Consul named Wun Who knows how to make the clan fun Helps out with the site; does tasks day and night His work has helped me a ton

-Jam3z Entar Arconae, SCL

Wuntila has made Arcona into something new and better than I could have ever pictured. Despite being CoJ'ed over a technicality, he still managed to lead his Clan to winning Phase II of the Crusade. This is monumental. I speak from experience when I say that being CoJ'ed puts a dampener on your activity. You feel persecuted and continually ask yourself why you even bother continuing being a leader in the club that slaps you down for showing initiative, but Sam never wavered. He kept on pushing his members and summit to do his best, and honestly, I questioned his heritage more than once - he even looks like the quintessential overachieving asian father. "You have cold? Become Doctor, cure yourself!" He's a tank. The man won't stop for anything, and he deserves nothing less than the best. Unfortunately, we can't give that to him, so this will have to do. Keep on rocking, Man.

Dash -Teroch Erinos, P:MAA </bow></bow>_</small>)

S'nar Que Seshai got awarded a Anteian Cross on 5/13/2013 6:31:47 PM (<small>_I am honoured to be recommending Sâ??nar for his first Anteian Cross, his hard work and dedication to Clan Arcona and House Galeres has been impressive for someone who has just come back. He has been constantly helping the Journeyman of Galeres keeping them motivated and driving them towards their goals for their next promotions.

Anteian Crossâ?? are given to members who â??shown consistent and dedicated service to oneâ??s Battleteam or House by having displayed a greater than average amount of activity over a period of several weeks that included participation in several projects, events or competitions.â? Sâ??nar has embodied this by jumping right in and getting involved with as much of Arconaâ??s community as possible.

He has really stepped in helping his fellow members in gaming, going out of his way to help them complete Warzones and Flashpoints for their promotion requirements. He never says no and is always taking the time to help them out. He has recently spent time helping Atyiru and Liuâ??quin on getting there Warzones completed though he has probably spent well into five hours or more in doing so. This is extreme dedication not just for himself, but the Clan as a whole by helping his fellow Journeyman. He is always willing to offer his opinion and assistance whenever possible. He has recently stepped up as XO of Soulfire, helping his BTL out with general tasks and keeping a constant IRC presence.

Cethgus Tiberius Entar Arconae got awarded a Grand Cross of the Dark Side on 5/9/2013 5:59:07 AM (<small>_Over the past few months, Cethgus has been a boon to Arcona's growing population of journeymen. He has stepped up, going far beyond what one would expect from a 'typical' Aedile, and shouldered a huge amount of responsibility for both Galeres and Qel-Droma's new members' progression and development in the Brotherhood. And all of this has been completed along with an increasing workload placed upon him by the Arconan clan summit. This is the kind of dedication and devotion that has sculpted Arcona's success, and it is the kind of dedication that should be recognised.

Over the past few months, Cethgus has worked with Atyiru, S'nar and Kyrun to ensure that each of these members achieves their full potential. One example is his dedication to helping the newer members with their gaming endeavours. He has single-handedly constructed a clan Arcona journeymen Flash Point and Operations group in The Old Republic with the sole purpose of helping the journeymen level up, gain Clusters of Fire, and help them get accustomed with the game. This has been particularly prevalent with S'nar, Morrighan and Kyrun, who've all benefited considerably from his help and experience. This is only reified by his recent endeavour to help S'nar with his promotion requirements, involving running four Warzones which took a total of four hours to complete. Furthermore, he has made a concerted effort to help journeymen in whichever platform they own, even at point purchasing games for individuals so that they may better enjoy their experience in the Brotherhood. He has even gone as far as to help members with their fictional development - which we all know is decidedly not Cethgus' strong point - and succeeded with members such as S'nar, who is now on his swift way to Jedi Hunter.

Not only has this consistent dedication to the members been recognised by his Quaestor, Proconsul and I, but I've even received an email from a few members highlighting the help he's given them, and asking that Cethgus be appropriately recompensed for his time. This is quite frankly inspiring.

All of this has been without want or reward; it's been for the members and the members alone. But this kind of selflessness is not restricted to helping the newer members. Indeed, over the past few months, Cethgus has shouldered an increasing amount of responsibility within House Galeres. With Sanguinius' increasingly demanding schedule, Cethgus has had to step into the fore, acting in his capacity as Aedile, and as a stand-in Quaestor, sometimes for months at a time. He has written reports, made key decisions, kept the members engaged, and ensured that Galeres continues to prosper even in the intermittent absence of it's Quaestor. In fact, he has done more than aid it's growth... Cethgus has, for all intents and purposes, facilitated a Galeres-dominant Arcona, refining what was once the clan's weaker house into a pillar of the Brotherhood community. Galeres now leads Qel-Droma in almost every aspect aside from writing. In this way, he has done more than any of the House's former Quaestors and Aediles ever could. And how did he do it? Investment of time, dedication, devotion, and investment in people.

Grand Crosses of the Dark Side are, "... given to those who have shown exemplary work in their position, demonstrating a keen understanding of their surroundings and helping to further their planned goals." In this circumstance, Cethgus has been more than an exemplar in his position; he has become a marker. Raising the bar is something in which Cethgus seems to excel, and he seems to have done it again. Moreover, not only has he demonstrated a keen understanding of his surroundings and interpreted the needs of the membership, but he has also gone above and beyond his means to cater for these needs. By doing so, he has set aside his own planned goals for the development of the newer members. This is surely a noble sacrifice, and one that deserves the utmost respect. But still, he has crafted a House worthy of recognition. He has stepped up, carried the Galeres banner, and demonstrated unequivocally that he is one of the key members of this Brotherhood. Arcona would be in a worse place without him, and I am both honoured and humbled to be recommending him for this Grand Cross.

Congratulations, Stu. You've earned it.

Atyiru Araave got awarded a Dark Cross on 5/8/2013 8:48:27 PM (<small>_Atyiru has recently demonstrated her value as an esteemed members of the clan by going above and beyond her call as a 'mere member' to help another Journeyman develop their talents in writing. S'nar recently came to be with a list of what she has done to help him in her spare time, and it is truly heart-warming to see journeymen assisting each other with their respective shortcomings.

Atty has proofed and edited every recent piece of work S'nar has completed, including his 5-page MAA fiction task, and spent a significant amount of time working with S'nar to improve the quality of his wiki article.

This kind of selflessness is what defines a good member in our fine institution, and I feel that her work in ensuring another member's continued progression and development is more than deserving of reward.

Congratulations, Atty.

Kanis Da'uul got awarded a Anteian Cross on 5/7/2013 9:25:55 AM (<small>_Since joining the DJB back in January Kanis has been tearing up the Shadow Academy, participating in Dark Crusade Events, and even organized an event for the Independence Games. In his first 10 days of membership Kanis completed a total of ten Shadow Academy Courses, and continued on to complete three more over the later weeks. He was active in the March Phase of the Dark Crusade, participating in the Advanced Recon (Graphics) and Training Encryption (SA) Competitions. Continuing on to recent events Kanis participated in the Independence Games Competition - "Strippers are people too..." and also organized the Independence Games Competition - "Earthly Exchange", which had 3 submissions entered for it. It is my pleasure to congratulate Kanis on earning this Anteian Cross, a much overdue Merit Medal for this member.

Kyrun got awarded a Dark Cross on 5/3/2013 12:19:06 PM (<small>Since joining Arcona YESTERDAY, Kyrun has risen to Acolyte and completed 3 exams - DB Basics, IRC Basics and GMRG History. He has also registered on the forums, started work on his wiki page and had incredible activity on IRC, getting to know his new Clanmates. Kyrun has gone above and beyond what we usually get from new members, who often take a while to get to this rank. The Headmaster has encouraged summiteers to award merit medals more often and as such, it is of my opinion that Kyrun deserves this Dark Cross. Congratulations, Kyrun. Keep up the good work!</small>)

Ood Bnar got awarded a Ruby Scepter on 4/25/2013 9:48:47 PM (<small>_Ood has just graded his 1000th exam.

1000.

That number is crazy. I can imagine that Ood is the first and only person to achieve this milestone.

1000 exams and he is still passionate about the Shadow Academy. He hasn't developed the cynicism that is all too common among "grizzled veterans."

Ood is nearing the end of his 7th year of total, combined, active service to the Shadow Academy, having served as the Eclectic Pedagog of Sith Tactics, Eclectic Pedagog of Pre-Republic History, Professor of Philosophy and now Professor of CORE Studies.

During all of the time he has looked after courses in various capacities, he has always sought to improve his courses. Everything from spelling and general quality checks to complete re-writes when needed.

Not only has Ood served as a Professor of two different departments, he was also THE first Professor. His appointment occurred at least two months before any of his future counterparts. For those two months he beta tested the new system (prior to this, every course was assigned an EP, afterwards courses were grouped together under one Professor). It was thanks to Ood's diligent testing and close work with Muz and Taig that the Professor system saw the light of day, much to the benefit of the Academy and her students.

Ood is always willing to assist his student, taking the time to point them to where they strayed in their exams and even emailing them after grading with further information. Given his department, he is the one Professor that interacts with EVERY new comer to the Brotherhood. His mentorship, I'm sure, has played a large part in a number of Apprentices' early careers.

His grading is timely, often taking well short of 24 hours between submission and graded exam. If it were an option to not sleep, I am sure Ood would be willing to grade every exam as soon as it came in.

Since I started as Headmaster, Ood has taken on the task of updating all of the Shadow Academy courses currently on offer. He has managed the taking on of an assistant and has completed two departments so far. He works quickly and efficiently and always with the student as his number one priority.

He has also been a great asset in writing and checking Grind Path courses which will greatly assist future new comers to the Brotherhood.

Ood, you're a great asset to the Shadow Academy and a truly believe that it wouldn't be what it is today, and what it will be tomorrow, without you.

~ Epis Solari, Headmaster

<bow>

One thousand exams, three and a half years of service to the Shadow Academy, Ood has arguably done more for the Shadow Academy that any Headmaster ever.

Numbers aside, Ood still, after all this time and exams, respects his position. Back in January, I took the DB Basics exam (I hadn't, it was there, let's do this). Even though it was just another DB Basics exam--an exam he's graded literally hundreds of times--Ood gave me a complete and thorough reply within 24 hours. Not just a "[Score]. Well done." like most other professors, but a detailed response: "You missed these questions for these reasons. You passed, but you have room for improvement." (Not an exact quote, but the sentiment is the same.) I didn't take the exam seriously, but Ood did. After the hundreds he's graded, knowing a DJM did not put any effort into the DB Basics exam, he did not go through the motions, he graded the exam as though it was the first exam submitted to him.

One thousand exams, three and a half years of service to the Shadow Academy, and he remains respectful and diligent. I fully support the recommendation of a Ruby Scepter for Ood Bnar.

~ Dark Jedi Master Troutrooper, Special Magistrate to the Headmaster

Ood has been a bastion of activity for as long as I've known him... and I've known him for 5 years. I've seen the guy consistently help our new and younger members to integrate into the Brotherhood and learn about the ropes. The guy is a producer for the Brotherhood, as well as a teacher. He is currently undertaking a massive rewriting of the departments that make up the Shadow Academy and has pretty much been a part of the SA for the five years that I've known him. He teaches me new things and also helps me to improve on helping others.

Ood has been a boon to the Brotherhood and thoroughly deserves this Ruby Sceptre. Congratulations, Ood. You're a legend, mate.

Atyiru Araave got awarded a Steel Cross on 4/17/2013 2:18:57 AM (<small>_I'm hugely surprised that Atyiru hasn't been the recipient of any merit medals to date. This member has been an example not only to her fellow journeymen, but to the Brotherhood as a whole. I'll start by addressing her recent explosion onto the main page. Atyiru, then a Protector, completed a 60-page fiction. Yes. 60 pages. Not of fluff. 60 pages of pure poetic majesty. She wrote her heart out. And she did so not for herself, not for personal glory, but for her Clan. She stepped up, demonstrating what it truly means to not only be a member of Arcona - by representing for the clan - but also the Brotherhood, given that she partook in such dedicated work for the sake of enjoyment.

Since then, she's been a boon to Arcona's continued activity. She has been active on IRC, a fervently active member of her battleteam, and a huge figure in Arcona's journeymen circles. In her attempts to network with the clan, she has also gone as far as participating in Google+ Hangouts with Arconans. Not only that, but she has also recently participated in a number of Independence Games events (notably: the Antei Contract Bureau and Call Your Banners, whilst subscribing to the A Dark Jedi On Earth competition), among the other Dark Crusade events within which she participated (4 out of 5 entries), which thus helped the clan attain Rhelg. She has been a true demonstration of what it means to lead not through official channels, but by taking ownership and responsibility and truly leading by example.

On the Brotherhood wikipedia page it states that, "The Steel Cross is awarded for extended service to one's House or Clan... Activity over a period of some time that goes above and beyond what is considered normal can also be rewarded with this award." It is without a shadow of a doubt that I therefore recommend Atyiru be rewarded with a Steel Cross, for she has not only provided a huge service to her clan through her consistent activity and exemplary approach, but also through her ability to communicate and lead by example.

I have not seen a member like Atyiru since Socorra joined our ranks, and I know her future will be bright.

Congratulations, Atyiru. You've earned it.
