Zenon blanched as the laser scalpel began cutting away the folds of skin and muscle covering the patients ribcage. The acrid smell of burning flesh almost made him gag once or twice and that wasn’t even the worst part. As he held out a tray and another lump of deformed tissue was deposited into it he turned on his heel to hurl it away as quickly as possible, before he himself ended up hurling as quickly as possible. The crunch of cracking bone filled his ears next and he dared not turn around as he could only imagine what was being done. Soon came the stink, the smell of decay and putrefaction that could only come from something that had been dead for months and never found or…
“Broken, broken, broken! He was alive not twenty fours ago and look Zenon, look! I swear i’m being sabotaged my experiments should not be going wrong this quickly! I bet it’s that...no perhaps him...or could it be her!” The voice trailed into mumbling and Zenon looked over his shoulder to find his master, the Krath Priest Deimos d’Tana, removing organs in no particular order from a very dead patient. He stopped with his arm awkwardly inserted into the cadavers chest cavity before turning to Zenon. “Why so green, you’ll never be an Alchemist if you can’t even stand a little smell boy.”
Zenon was about to reply he had no intention of being an Alchemist...or of shoving his arm into any odd orifice that presented itself when he was saved by the laboratory doors opening and the arrival of Etah d’Tana. The elder d’Tana wrinkled his nose in disgust and threw Zenon a pitiful and knowing glance before he turned his attention to the Arkanian, who was at this point attempting to shove everything he had removed back into the body.
“You’re up in ten minutes little brother. Your first proper address to your new Battleteam, or should I say old Battleteam.” Etah let out a soft chuckle before adjusting his robes. He had taken, like Deimos, to wearing the new robes commemorating the Dark Crusade. Though whilst Deimos’s were a striking purple his were a deep red to show his allegiance to the Sith.
Deimos looked over his shoulder at Etah and simply nodded, “Fine, fine! I’ll be there in ten minutes. You go up without me and i’ll be there shortly.” Etah nodded and left the room, Zenon made to follow him, “No, not you my dear apprentice. Pick up the bucket and help me clean this mess up.”
I wish to first say welcome to Shadow Gate and to working within one of House Qel-Droma’s Battleteams. Shadow Gate has a long-standing history of getting things done. In the last Chapter of the Dark Crusade we had an outstanding participation average and topped the charts for entries submitted. Though we may have come second in the Dark Crusade, I am personally proud as punch that we as a Battleteam managed to kick as much ass as we did, because let’s face it, no harm in being the best is there?
I want to thank Etah for leading us for the last few months and say congratulations on obtaining EQ3. Well deserved and well earned and I want him to be an inspiration to everyone, and let you realise you do not need to shout loud to be recognised.
I’ve decided to make a few outstanding changes to the Battleteam. Before we were a jack-of-all-trades team, we did a bit of this and a bit of that, and we still will be doing a bit of this and a bit of that. However, I want to put an increased emphasis on Fictions, Run-ons and all those other fun things that require your creative mind. I am a big fan of character development, having developed my character about 5 times in the last year alone but this is because I believe that to get something perfect it takes a lot of screw-ups, elbow grease, and whacky ideas to get the right mix and the right idea.
Our first BT competition will be based around developing internal rewards for the BT. Like Void’s pips I want to reward you guys for your activity be it in major competitions with the House/Clan or a simple BT operation. With the run-up to Christmas I plan to keep things light, worst time of year to get anything done anyway so why make it even more harder for you guys to find time to fit things in?
So without further ado a merry Yule and a Happy Christmas. Get drunk, eat loads, and try not to burn down the house when you’re cooking the turkey.

As we all should be aware by now the new SA Society has been released. There appear to be numerous hidden rewards to be obtained, by completing SA courses and degrees, as well as a nice new rank system to be applied to your dossier! So if you haven’t done a course in a while it may certainly be time to do so!
