At this time of year almost everything goes on sale, video games are no exception! There's three websites that have quite a bit going on for gaming sales:

Steam has tons of games on sale right now. Including Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy & Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast for $6.99 each ($3 discount from normal)
HumbleBundle runs sales where you can set your own price for certain games each week, and give some of the donation to charity too. This is good insurance to prevent coal in stockings and you get a few video games, just saying....
GreenmanGaming also has a special winter sale running right now too!

Now if somehow those places don't have the game you're looking for, try out this Reddit Holiday Sale Thread that covers a ton of games on sale at different sites. Somewhere in this mess of crazy deals I'm sure you'll find a present or two to put under the digital tree!

For Diablo 2, did you try setting it to run in Windows 98 mode, and adding -W to the shortcut to force it into windowed display? I had trouble when I first downloaded it for Windows 7 earlier this year, and that's what got it working for me :)
