Consul Report

Clan Naga Sadow | 20th January 2003 | Report #21

...Heirs to the Empire...

Announcements from the Office of Consul Zorrixor

A most eventful week, including both the good and the bad. Quite a lot of prospective future announcements to give you some hints to also, I am hoping the rest of January to be quite eventful :)

Resignation of Quaestor Raistlin of Primus Goluud

It saddens me to announce the resignation of Raistlin, he's helped the House a lot over the past half a year, starting as Aedile when Bob was Quaestor and now as Quaestor himself, having given up another Quaestor job to come back and help us. Its a pitty to see the pressure of the House having forced Raistlin to resign, he's done a good job over the past few months and will be sorely missed.

Quaestor of Primus Goluud open to applications

I am opening the position up for applications, I'll leave it internal for a few days to see if anyone wants to apply, if not I'll open it to the whole Brotherhood. Bare in mind I don't necessarily mind if you're an experienced Obelisk, the job of Quaestor is more adminisrtative and so long as you own the games and know how to play them that will do, as you can run competitions and help the House with that experience alone.

As always, the requirements are not set in stone, though here is what I preferably would like applicants to prove:

Required Criteria

  • Rank of Dark Jedi Knight or higher.

  • At least 8 months in the Brotherhood.

  • High IRC Presence

  • 48hr email response time.

  • Previous leadership experience - Evidence required. (Preferably of Aedile level)

  • Prepared for an initial 6 month commitment.

  • Passed the Leadership Studies course at the Shadow Academy

Desirable Criteria

  • Rank of Warrior or Priest.

  • Daily IRC Presence.

  • 24hr email response time.

  • Enthusiastic, interested and past demonstration of commitment to the Brotherhood. (Namely running of detailed, moderately sized House competitions).

  • Membership within Clan Naga Sadow, either in the past or present.

Master Student Program

I've had a lot of work to do myself with getting this running, so its taken something of a sideline to getting fully implemented, though I have not recieved any applications so for the time being the Quaestors will continue as acting First Masters, unless they choose to delegate this responsibility to their Aediles, well, Aedile as we only have one currently :P

Reawakening of the Black Guard

As taken from my email to the Clan

The Black Guard, the Defenders of Sif

Darkness has forever clouded the history of Phare, but none so more than the history of the ruthless band of warriors known only as the Black Guard. Planets have been rendered incapacitated by the presence of the Black Guard alone. This elite group of Dark Jedi are the chosen few among many, they are the Darkness, they are eternal; they are the Elite.

The Black Guard are feared by everyone, and noone. Those who know of the Guard fear their name, those who do not fear do not know. The Guard is but a shadow; known by all, seen by none.

The Black Guard are the Elite Champions of Clan Naga Sadow. Three Champions for three Orders, three Champions for three Houses, one Guard for one Clan. They are the Black Guard, they are the Dark Side.

The Black Guard is formed of the Clan's three Champions; one Champion is drawn from each of the Clan's Houses: The Black Prophet of Marka Ragnos, the Black Sentinel of Primus Goluud and the Black Archon of Ludo Kressh.

The Black Guard live only to serve the Infernal Spirit of Lord Naga Sadow, it is his will alone that they obey.

History

Lord Naga Sadow formed the Black Guard millennia ago; they were established as the members of his private Household, the chosen few tutored in the ancient ways of the Sith. The elder Guardsmen were the Sith Lord's Procurators of Justice, the elite band charged with maintaining Order throughout Phare.

Over the centuries the Black Guard disappeared, making way for the younger Houses, their dwindling numbers fading away into the Shadows. The Guard were eventually forgotten, lost in the eternity of time. But the Guard never truly left, they merely retreated into hiding, maintaining their traditions in secrecy from the other Houses.

When Lord Tron Sadow returned to unite the feuding Households the Black Guard returned. The ancient Order were welcomed into the newly formed Clan of Naga Sadow, the remaining three practitioners of the ancient Sith ways being appointed as the young Sith Heir's private Bodyguard, and as the Champions of the three Houses.

The Black Prophet of Marka Ragnos, Champion of the Krath

The supreme practitioner of the Dark Arts, the Black Prophet is the reigning champion of the Krath Order within Clan Naga Sadow. The Black Prophet is trained in the ancient ways of alchemy and manipulation. The Prophet has always been the Scholar of the Guard; he is the Diplomat, the Scientist and the Sorcerer.

The Black Sentinel of Primus Goluud, Champion of the Obelisk

The champion of the Obelisk Order is also the chief Bodyguard of the Consul. The Black Sentinel is the strongest, faster and toughest of the Clan's fighters. The Sentinels of the past have upheld a life of strict disciplined training and fighting; each has been an example of the perfect lightsaber duellist.

The Black Archon of Ludo Kressh, Champion of the Sith

The elite pilot of Ludo Kressh and the champion of the Sith, the Black Archon is the most ruthless of the Guardsmen. The Order of the Sith has always been known as the most undisciplined of the three, the Black Archon is a perfect example. Whereas the Sentinel maintains a strict lifestyle of intensive training and the Prophet is the scholar of the three, the Archon is a merciless killer with no consideration for life.

Induction

Entry within the Black Guard is an almost impossible process. One does not join the Black Guard, the Black Guard joins you. There is no recruitment, there is no formal request - there is only the will of the Guard.

In order to be invited into the Black Guard one must defeat the reigning Champion in battle. A one-on-one duel is required to prove oneself to the Guard, only then will entry be considered.

To become one of the three, you must oust one of the three. There are only three, and there shall be only three. Thus says the Code of the Black Guard.

Expulsion

Removal from within the Black Guard is simple. Do not as the others, and you shall not remain.

The Black Guard adhere to the Code of the Guard; those who fail to adhere to the Code are not welcome within it. The Black Guard are the Champions of Clan Naga Sadow, if you are not a champion, then you are not a Guardsman.

I've recieved a few questions about whats happening to old Guardsmen and who the new ones are. To the first question, the old Guardsmen are not in the new Guard and to the second, there are no new Guardsmen at the moment. I am still debating how to choose the new Guardsmen...as I want it to be more of a monthly thing than a long-term thing that gets forgotten quickly.

As for who'll be in charge of the Guard, fictionally I'm making it Tron, I think, at the moment at least, and practically me. There won't be a Lord Primus, you can consider Tron the Primarch, or Patron of the Black Guard or something if you wish, with me just being Consul and the head of the Guard in the sense of that its my Guard.

Promotions - Clearup

I've recieved a few questions as to how to award promotions from now on, mainly in the wake of the redundancy of the promotion points. Well, it seems a lot of people are still interested in points, this can be the case if your Quaestor chooses to conduct such a system, but Clan-wide I no longer recognise the points system myself. The Master/Student Program is now the Clan-wide set of regulations and guidelines for attaining promotions, if you arn't a Student under a Master then you're on your own really to figuring out what to do to get promoted, beyond the norm at least. Myself and the Quaestors are still here to help, but te MSP is the main way of getting promoted, if you're not a Student there arn't really any set rules, its more the traditional 'be active for a while and get promoted' method if you're not in it.

I also want to stress something about TIME. This is the primary reason I've had to scrap the points system, as they were too short-term for a lot of people, and too long-term for a lot of people. You cannot magically get promoted after a few weeks even if you've earnt enough points, ranks have a degree of value and respect in them so we can't simply award them solely on what you do, but also how long you can keep it up. A lot of people "could" get up to SWL, in theory, with the amont they might do in one month, but the thing with ranks, really starting after GRD, is that they get rarer for the fact that they do really require a certain amont of time put into them. As a result, though things like the MSP are "final" they are still not final for in order to get a promotion extended activity over a longer period is still a requirement, and simply considered standard so not always mentioned. Personally, I'd rather see a battle a week than four battles in one week then three weeks going 'Need to wait to get promoted' which often is the case, and means that after those three weeks you'd be deemed somewhat inactive and not worthy of the promotion anymore.

I hope that clears a few things up...

Clan Specific Force Powers

So you all know, our chosen power is Telekinesis. I've proposed a set of ideas to the P:DGM at the moment, though since this is all really early its hard to come up with many exact power levels or anything to make sure its fair and what have you.

Another idea i've had proposed for CNS is Diplomacy type things, though at the moment I've stuck with Telekinesis as I prefer it. I had wanted Alchemy, but it was decided that it was too powerful, and we also weren't the only ones who wanted it :P

If any of you have any ideas about potential force powers then please send me some ideas, Telekinesis is a wide concept, so if you've got any original sounding ideas i'd like to hear about them.

House News Foreword

Another week, another set of reports. I must admit things have got a bit lax recently, though they still come in, even if a little overdue, so its nothing big.

Proconsul - No Report Recieved.

Ludo Kressh - http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.org/dbjedi/viewreport.asp?ID=3015

Primus Goluud - No Quaestor.

Marka Ragnos - No Report Recieved, second week running.....

Conclusion

Well thats it for this week, I look forward to getting some stuff done with the Force Powers this week, plus getting the Black Guard finished off and a system of monthly appointments sorted.
