Consul Report

Dark Greetings,

I apologize for the delayed-ness of this report, got caught up in stuff. Anyway, another exciting week with some small progressions in our rebuilding process!

Appointments:

First of all, everyone congratulate OBM Ziguarath on his appointment to Proconsul this week. Zigurath has always been a valuable part of Tarentum and especially to Cestus, and I believe he will be a tremendous help to me and Tarentum now to get this Clan back in motion.

Also congratulations out to JH Rekio Corsair, newly appointed Quaestor of House Tridens! The Aedile will probably not be appointed until we see some more Sith members, as Tridens is currently down to two. So. . .there's a hint to help our your Sith house and hunt down some pilots for Tridens. ;)

Departures:

On the subject of positions.. on a sadder note, we lost KAP Anubis, Aedile of House Gladius, this week due to some issues with the EH. So, likewise, go hunt him down and give him your . . .encouragement, vords of visdom, whatever it is you feel so inspired to say. =P

Website:

Tarentum website! Thanks to Sith Bloodfyre for setting up clantarentum.net for the use of the Clan once we actually get a site up and running. :) He has also contacted our CHAN Knight Camile, and HRLD Kaine Mandaala, both former Tarentum members, who have agreed to lend their coding and artistic imagery abilities to the building of the site. So cheers to Sithie, Knight and Kaine. :) Annd.. we have some basic ideas on how we want the site to look, but we're still up for ideas from all of you. So if you have any ideas on images, styles, themes.. whatever you like, e-mail me and let me know. =)

Tarentum Trials:

I am going to be working soon on ammending our current trial system. If you don't remember or have never heard. .. the trials are designed as a means to evaluate a members abilities and skills within their specific order to encourage trying all aspects of their order as well as striving to improve with rank. What I want to do now is basically cut some things, or at least shorten to make them seem less.. . formidable as far as time is concerned, and more effective for the purpose they were designed. Remember, trials are for ranks GRD through SBM/equiv.. And then of course we will be needing some, if not all, new trial masters to run these. :) So stay tuned for news on that. :)

IRC/Message Boards:

Just a quick note of encouragement for all Tarentum members to make use of our IRC channel (#tarentum) and our MBs (http://www.chaoslogic.com/db/message_board/default.asp?CAT_ID=9). There's still a run-on going on on the Gladius board, and of course if any other house wants to do that they're welcome. Plus it just a good means of communication and hopefully a source of questions/advice as well. :)

And, something to keep in mind while you are using these means of communication.. be it on DB wide channels or not, remember that as a member of Clan Tarentum, you represent the Clan to others who may not know what we're all about. So -- play nice. We are all of course Dark Jedi, but we do uphold a sense of honour and respect among ourselves, and I expect Tarentum to represented that way. This also holds true when you represent yourself as a member of the Dark Brotherhood. . .and hence don't act like fools around the EH/EHDB people, either. ;)

Activies:

There are some competitions going on house-wide, so pay attention to those and get them done. There are always Obelisk things going on. . .so check the DB news page and the Obelisk site for those things. There are also several other DB wide competitions in the works.

But for now -- Independence Games! http://independence.starfleetacademy.net -

I think there are 27 events to do.. possibly more now. There are some for specific orders, and some for any order.. but every order definately has plenty of things to do. They are not very typical competitions, so go have some fun with them. And, of course.. lean towards those created by your QUAs/AEDs..CONs/PCONs.. and basically any summit member of Tarentum. ;) But have fun with all of the events, some are really spiffy. ;)

House Reports

  • Gladius -

Well I guess this will be one of my last reports.  Yup, I'm going to step down and allow someone else the wonderful chance to lead this great house.  My reason:  life.  Even if I didn't step down, I'd have to take a few months LoA and that's not good for the house at all.  And it's always good to get some new blood flowing  :)  On to the news!

Promotions/Medals/Joins!!

A few promotions this week!  Demerzel was promoted to Jedi Hunter, Jason was promoted to Priest, Hades was promoted to ArchPriest, and I was promoted to Epis.

Great job to all of you for all the hard work and effort you have shown over the past months.  You all deserved your promotion!

Sith got a shiny Grand Cross of the Dark Side for all his work with the DC.  Great Job!

Obscurus got two Sapphire Cresents for being the only person I ever got anything from for the House Competition.  I wish I could have given out more  :(  Great Job Obscurus!

And last but not least, we have a new member here.  DJK Kryndath Del'chanar, an old time Gladius and Mystic member has come back to us.  Let us all welcome him back!

Competitions

There is a cool sounding competition up for everyone to participate in.  Well, it's really a bunch of cool sounding competitions.  These will start May 4th so be prepared to participate in the largest collection of competitions around.  There are no boundries to us Krathies can play Sithy games  :)  You can find all information here:  http://independence.starfleetacademy.net/games.html

Make sure you support your QUA and AEDs events but do not forget to have fun with the others  :)

This months KMTs are out and as follows:

Krath story: 'Divided Loyalties'

You may write about current events if you wish, or interprete the topic in a completely different and innovative manner.

<4 pages 12pt TNR. Submit to [Log in to view e-mail addresses] by midnight 31st May.

Krath poem: 'Virtue'

Style - Free verse (ie poetry that doesn't have any specific structure or rhyme or anything).

Submit to [Log in to view e-mail addresses] by midnight 31st May.

That's all the relevant ones.  If you'd like to know about Obie and Sithy competitions, you'll just have to read the news page  ;)   It's always good to read that page as often as you can.

Clan/House News

Well it looks like Hades is going to be forced into retirement since he is a part of the EH and has people who are jealous of him  :P  He has put in a lot of time with us but he has put in more with the EH that can not be tossed asside.  Despite his trying to change his name and stuff, he was still forced.  We'll miss you Hades but we'll also know you are really still here with us  :)

It's sad that things must be that way but we all must move on.  I will not be taking any applications for AED so do not submit one to me.  Since I do plan to step down, it'll more than likely be the job of the one who replaces me to find their AED.

Get your friends to join!  It doesn't matter if they like to fly, fight, or write you'll get a medal for recruiting them  :)

Seems there's been lots of angry words going back and forth so keep the tongue in the cheek when speaking with someone in the EH.  Though I don't think that is a problem with us here  :)

The KCC is back up and more websites are on their way to being restored!  Make sure you swing by the news page for the lastest updates!

Bad tire change...

Out With a Bang!

2000 Darwin Award Nominee

Confirmed True by Darwin

(19 April 2000, Georgia )

A mechanic at a tire store in Montezuma was killed when a tire he and his brother were repairing exploded. The two were attempting to repair a crack in a tractor-trailer wheel rim with a welding torch. A high school chemistry student can tell you that heating air in a sealed container, such as a truck tire, causes the gas to expand and the pressure to increase. But the brothers, who had been repairing tires for years, did not heed this principle and deflate the tire before fixing the crack.

Montezuma Police Chief Lewis Cazenave hypothesized that the heat from the welding torch caused the air in the tire to expand until it exploded. Witnesses say that when the 4' diameter tire exploded, the rim left the axle "with great velocity," striking Robert in the head and killing him instantly. The force of the explosion was enough to knock a pickup truck off of a nearby lift, and the report was heard at the local police station one mile away.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited and fined the tire and wheel company, but the owner says he will contest the findings. "They were both trained. The manager and the customer told him not to, but he did it anyway."

Well that's all for this week.  I'll continue to make my reports at probably this same time until I step down.  Remember to play safe and have lots of fun!
