Temple of Sorrow

DarkHawk and Tasha were studying a holographic battleplan when a command section Ensign entered the room.

“Consul, the shuttle you requested for you and the Proconsul has arrived.”

Tasha twisted her head toward the ensign while raising an eyebrow and crossing her arms.

“A shuttle?”

“Thank you Ensign, the Proconsul and I will depart here momentarily.”

The Ensign saluted, pivoted his right foot, made an about face and swiftly left the room.

“Why are we needing a shuttle?” replied the Twi’lek as she continued to glare at the Consul, still mildly curious as to his purpose.

A small smirk barely noticeable darted across the Shaeavalian’s face as he powered down the holoprojector.

“Come on ma’am, let's do some sightseeing.”

The Marauder scowled. “Sightseeing? We don’t have time for that, there is a dangerous Corellian with a powerful artifact still out there.”

“We need a mild distraction. That intel is not going anywhere and it's a quick trip, I promise,” DarkHawk answered, gesturing to the door. It didn’t take the Force to feel the seething frustration ebbing from his Proconsul. She had been relentless and determined in the search for the former Overlord.

She let out an exasperated sigh. “Fine, let’s go, but only for a little bit.”

The duo left the room and raced down to the shuttle hanger. One of the Perdition’s Upsilon-class command shuttles was waiting for them with its doors wide open. Once inside the shuttle, the copilot retracted the ramp and closed the hatch with a flip of a couple toggle switches. The shuttle lifted off away from the hangar and moved outside. Soon they were above the vast forest canopy on the planet. Tasha glanced out of the window and saw the shuttle lowering its two large wings before zooming off over the forest trees towards the North.

Meanwhile somewhere across the system…

Atawos Yzotix, leader of this band of Nightfallers, retreated from her temporary quarters and directed herself towards the command and control center. The Rattataki sauntered with a purpose, seemingly floating across the walkway. As she approached the makeshift command center, a tingling feeling in the back of her mind rushed over her, giving her pause before entering.

“This better be worth disturbing my slumber,” she thought to herself. Placing a hand on her saber, she activated the door and entered.

Nightfaller personnel were scurrying about within the confined area. Two human males and one female were sifting through transport ship schematics. Atawos approached the three, “What is so urgent that needs my attention at this hour?” she scoffed.

One of the males immediately briefed the Rattataki on the newly acquired supply ship intel passing through Aeotheran. Her eyes narrowed as she read through the manifests. Over the last few moons, the Sadowans had increased the amount of supply and personnel ships coming in and out of Sepros. The Force disciple’s right eyebrow raised. “Just what are you up to?”

“Is this all?” Atawos demanded.

“No, there is more,” the female replied, gesturing to the two security guards at the other end of the room. One of the guards opened an adjacent door, a stout Cathar sporting a dark purple with a brownish-gray tinge colored pelt strolled out. His mane was quite dense with several thick strands braided into long dreadlocks which draped over his shoulders. The locks themselves were accentuated with streaks of white and small bones neatly weaved throughout.

With the aid of the Force Atawos stretched out her mind feeling the environment around her. “Jedi…” Atawos thought. She attempted to delve deeper into the Force, but her efforts were abruptly halted. Her connection severed. She made several attempts to break free, but to no avail. This was no ordinary visitor.

“Greetings, I am Zamier Thon.”

Atawos was apprised of this imposition during the last status report with her high command. She just was not expecting the visit this soon. Retaining a firm grip on the hilt of her weapon, the Rattataki felt immediate disdain swell within her. However she fought off the instant urge to end the Cathar’s life. Zamier kept a straight face, though he felt her struggling through the Force. He continued to maintain his composure despite the Rattataki’s known hostility towards him.
