Combat Master Quick-Update: CS 2.0 Bug Tracking / FAQ -- ACC Judges

Hello, yes this is Wally. A few quick things I wanted to get into a single newspost following the launch of CS 2.0 in my last report.

CS 2.0

The CS Development team is going to be sticking around as I rely on them for help with not only making sure CS 2.0 continues to roll out smoothly, but to also to work on projects I am going to (attempt) to do a better job of delegating. For anyone that knows me, you know that delegating is an ongoing thing. I got betta’. ;)

To that end, I wanted to highlight the continued excellent work of Terran (Invictus) who took a major initiative and created the Character Sheet FAQ. This FAQ looks to answer the common questions relating to CS 2.0 Changes.

For general feedback or questions about the ACC that you want answered, please use the Discourse thread found here. Questions and Answers from this thread will be added/updated to the Character Sheet FAQ.

For Bug tracking, we’ve created this nifty form. If you spot coding errors, syntax oddities, or anything else that is an error, fill out the form and the Voice Staff will make sure it gets taken care of. (*Just remember, humans [like Wally, Evant and Arden] had to manually input and transcribe a lot of these elements. Thanks for your understanding and support. ^_^)

Species Policy Reminders

On the Species Wiki, I added two reminders about policies with the Species.

This pertains to hybrid Species, and Grandfathered species.

ACC

Due to real life constraints, Timeros has stepped down from his position as a Judge. I want to thank Timmy for jumping in when he did to help me out as I learned the ropes of CM. It's always helpful having a former CM around.

Anyway, this means I need another Judge. In fact, I want two more Judges. I am going to be taking applications starting now up until 8/16/2015. It’s a short application timeframe, but I have a lot to do, and we will need a full staff for what I anticipate is about blow up with the after-effects of CS 2.0.

Things I will be looking for in a Judge Application:

ACC Qualified. Strong attention to details. An understanding of the new Character Sheets 2.0 changes Active turn around on communications Telegram available (Optional, but probably very helpful). A sample of an ACC Match you’ve participated in since the new ACC opened (Optional, but probably very helpful).

Duties include:

Keeping up with/judging matches in the “Completed Matches” queue. Keeping up with/grading Exams for the ACC Fundamentals and ACC Qualification. Working on improvements to the ACC and the mechanics that go into it.

Judging for the ACC is not easy. That is because the grading scheme for the ACC that we’ve established leaves the Judge fully accountable. Sure, Fiction competitions have a rubric, but when you have 10-50 people submitting to one contest, it’s hard to really say and highlight how the winning fictions separate from the 2nd and 3rd place ones. No, the ACC requires specific feedback on your specific writing, and what you did wrong (or right :P). This puts a lot of stress on the judges (and their boss) as we all try to work together to make sure gradings are as consistent as possible. Know that we are a very communicative group, and most of the time if a match is close, we will have someone double-check. If you have any questions on your match post--post grading--please do not be afraid to let us know, but remember that matches take a lot of time to grade properly, and ultimately, we’re human and might miss something. I trust the people I hire to kick-butt, though, and we are here to serve you, the members.

To that end, I want to extend the ACC Staff Email to everyone. If you have questions about a mechanic with the Character Sheets that pertains to a match, let us know. I am able to answer the questions I get in PM, but it’s hard for me then to relay all of that to my team. So, consider this your new hotline. You can reach us at: [Log in to view e-mail addresses] .

The ACC Team has a big task ahead of them. We have a DB-wide ACC competition I’ve been talking about since I took over as CM to launch, a Fundamentals Exam to re-write, and an ACC Qualification to update as well.

In the coming months, I just want to set the expectation for everyone realistically. The ACC Grading system is evolving and growing everyday. It is one of my main focuses and hopes that I can continue to make the grading process as transparent as possible for everyone. I’ll touch more on this in my next report where I’ll announce the new Judges, re-open the ACC, and show you my plans for how we push forward along the Grand Master's timeline.

ACC Logo Contest Ongoing

Don’t forget, I’m looking for a new logo for the ACC. Even if you only have ideas or rough sketches, send them in. Our awesome and lovely Herald will be able to convert graphics into vector/publishing form. In truth, I care more about a good design. So, do not be afraid to submit your ideas in sketch or doodle form! Check out the competitoin here

That’s all for now. Any questions, you know where to find me. (And no, it is not in ‘da club with a bottle full of ‘bud. Sorry, Ernor).

  • A hybrid Species will only get Feats from their Primary Species. They do not get Feats of the Secondary.
  • A hybrid Species can have cosmetic elements of their Secondary Species worked into their Physical Description.
