Arx Capital Exchange office

Meridian Prime Space Station

Kessel Sector

Qaanlug Vlux stared out of the viewport of his temporary office at the small fleet of defense ships orbiting Meridian. His bosses, the Regent and the Empress of Scholae Palatinae, sent him to the godforsaken station on an ‘errand of great importance’. Or so he was told in the orders—most likely drawn up by the secretary of the manager of whatever office the Regent used to communicate with field agents.

The station itself was in disrepair, and while it could have once provided docking and repair for a multitude of ships, it was far too badly damaged after the battle for that role. The lack of readily available docks and repair bays for the Brotherhood's fleets close to Collective space left the Brotherhood at a disadvantage. Their offensive against the enemy would falter without support, the lines would stretch too far and the Brotherhood would open itself to counter attack. Finding a suitable station for their ships was paramount.

He turned his attention to his holo-screen and lodged a firm, impervium-sealed data-disc into the access port. The data had already been reviewed and stripped to a need-to-know format by the Inquisitorius after it’s acquisition on the Matron. The disc itself contained a multitude of coordinates extrapolated from whatever information was found on the disc initially.

“Kastolar Sector?” He spoke as he reviewed the coordinates. “Am I supposed to know where that is? And what’s this Severian Principate?”

New fiction update

Greetings programs!

As you can tell by the excerpt, the new fiction update is here. This one is rather special and concerns a completely new faction created for future fictions and events.

The DB Story Group is proud to present: The Severian Principate

A small event accompanies this fiction update and reveal. The competitions include fiction, NPC creation and more.

You will find the container comp here: [Brotherhood Rising] The Severian Principate

Shoutout to the spectacular work of Tarvitz, Aura "Blade", and Archenksov for creating the Severian Principate during the Rite of Supremacy: Meridian and allowing us to use their excellent work to advance the DB's plot!

The Severian Principate aims to be a new and undetermined faction - meaning they are neither friend nor enemy...for now. The Story Group's intention is to use competitions to influence many of the aspects of the faction by giving members and their ideas the light of day and including particularly excellent ideas and submissions into DB Canon, as we have done with the Collective. It will be up to you guys to decide, through participating and winning competitions, whether the Principate will be to the DB's benefit or detriment.

But more on that in later posts. For now, we hope you enjoy the fiction and the small event that will help shape the Principate even more.

That's all for now. Hope you have a great day.

Fascinating.

a new foe. don't we have enough from the lighties?

The Principate is not necessarily a foe. Right now, they start as mostly neutral. How the club interacts with them has the potential to change that. This is not like the Collective, where they are bent on destroying the Brotherhood in its entirety, and so we expect members to react very differently.

This is very exciting to me, having a faction that is between "burn the heretics" and "let's all sing and drink mead" opens up a lot of options. Extremes are fun too but having a faction that exists in the middle presents new storytelling opportunities.

Goose is the worst.
