Introductions

”See, I never thought I’d live past twenty

Where I come from some get half as many

Ask anybody why we livin’ fast and we laugh, reach for a flask

We have to make this moment last, that’s plenty”

Welcome to the first Arcona Proconsul report of 2017. We have had a few restful weeks across the Holidays and beginning of the year. As the year progresses, we will get a taste of things picking up. A new episode of Sins of the Past is in the works with a promise of additional content and more destruction soon to happen. We have had a few changes in our Summit, and from the looks of it will have a few more coming up.

I would like to thank and congratulate a few people for their work and everything they have done for Arcona. Larrik (Ninj) Dul’Vak has spent the last two years serving in official and unofficial capacities within the Arconan summit, as Battleteam Leader in both Houses, Aedile, and an active role in training and development of others. Ninj, we thank you for everything you’ve done and wish you well as you continue to progress.

Rulvak Qurroc maintained one of the longest streaks as a Battleteam Leader and showed that the position you fulfill does not define your ability to contribute. He began as the Battleteam Sergeant of Nighthawk on March 2015, as a Jedi Hunter. He went on to earn his promotion to Battleteam Leader in October of the same year and eventually to earn his Equite I & II promotions for his dedication to House Galeres. He also earned a Sapphire Blade for his astounding level of activity. He will be the example by which the bar is set for some time to come. As of January 6th, he has resigned from his position and we cannot thank him enough for his dedication over 2 years in his role.

Kordath Bleu is no stranger to anyone, and if you have come up within the Club in the last year and a half, then you have either spoken to or worked closely with him in his role as Rollmaster of Arcona. It would take far longer than we have now and someone with more capability than I to explain all of his contributions to Arcona and her members. In short though, I would like to thank Kordath for all he has done and I am glad that he has chosen to stay within the Arcona Summit to fulfill his new role as Aedile.

To all three of you, Arcona would not be what it is today without your excellence in service and leadership.

Proconsul Features

”Scratch that this is not a moment, it’s the movement

Where all the hungriest brothers with something to prove went?

Foes oppose us, we take an honest stand

We roll like Moses, claimin’ our promised land”

Giphy

With every report I have always thought we should feature a member's work within the club. With this in mind, I was offered the opportunity to feature one of our best writers’ work. Featured below is the winning entry for the Red Skies competition, where we see Wuntila Arconae accept responsibility for his actions and choose to once again leverage the power he holds to stand with his Clan rather than oppose the rule of his Shadow Lady.

“Your clan has not changed.” Timeros rose to his feet and clasped his hands behind his back. He began to pace. It was a telltale sign of his irritation, one of his only outward demonstrations of emotion. He brought himself to stand between the Dragon and Rayze, drawing Wuntila’s eyes up to his own. “If you remember correctly, it was not the Jedi but the Mandalorians who pinned Zandro and Sashar down in the Ooroo Abbey. Their own people. And it was you who ordered the orbital bombardment which subsequently killed them. The clan is the same as it once was, Wuntila. The di Tenebrous Arconae still protect the clan. That is, all except you.”

“My actions would have protected the clan had the Shadow Lady and the Scion not sided with the resistance.” Wuntila bit back.

"Timeros smiled. “And therein lies your undoing. You betray the wishes of your Shadow Lady. You fight with your Scion at any given opportunity—“

“—the man had me taken to Tarentum to answer for unfounded crimes, Caesus!”

“And I agree with his decision. As should you. He is your leader. You follow him and support him like the Arconae should. And if his decisions are deserving of question, you do so politely. It is time to move on, my old friend. You are no longer on trial. Do right by your clan. You have very few chances left at redemption…” Timeros’ unnervingly blue eyes narrowed, “… do not cast this one aside as you have the others.”*

Sins Of the Past

”And? If we win our independence?

Zat a guarantee of freedom for our descendants?

Or will the blood we shed begin an endless cycle of vengeance and death with no defendants?”

giphy

Sins of the Past continues to roll into its third episode. While delayed due to a number of circumstances, I promise you this delay is for the best. Something your Summit refuses to do is provide you a lower quality competition simply to push it off the production floor. Atyiru and Terran have leveraged others to join in and help bring you what is shaping up to be an incredible story in the upcoming episode of Sins III.

I would ask that you continue to be patient and prepare for the upcoming chance to make your mark as the Clan confronts its past.

For now, a note from Atty discussing Sins a bit:

Hey, guys! While we keep working on this next Episode, I thought I'd take a seat and chatter about the event a bit, especially since it's been awhile.

So, where to start? How about the beginning? Sins of the Past is named...pretty obviously. It's all about Arcona's sins coming back to haunt them. Thing is, kids, we all make mistakes. Mistakes - actions, indeed every action - have consequences. Too often that's not touched on in the DJB. We go to big lightning-flinging multiclan wars and go home again without any spoils or any fallout at all for, like, blowing up and disturbing multiple civilizations/planets while we were at it. We go home and don't feel the impact of losing half an army, of making bad decisions, of being greedy for power or wealth or all those other things Dark siders and DBers are greedy for. We blow in, tell a story, and have it contained in a little shiny bubble before we move on.

We wanted to break that bubble. And not with a little poke - with a freaking cannon.

Arcona is the Shadow Clan. Our history, my dears, is dark. We have used people. We have betrayed people. We have killed, and killed, and killed. We have made enemies and allies and we have fought and clawed and stolen every scrap we could until we stood on top. We have done right, but by and large we have done wrong, and that doesn't go away just because we're playing the baddies and the Dark siders and want to do dark things.

There is still a price. We're paying it now.

Episode I? Lorden was a shady businessman who we discarded after he'd outlasted his use and became an annoying fly asking for more. He came back at us for that and blew our industries to hell for ruining him and his wealth. Episode II? Teroch was a son of Arcona, a loyal soldier literally born and bred to bleed for this clan, but he watched his father die in our wars, by our own hand, and he watched that same man give everything for Arcona instead of for his children. That rage turned into a military attack on our people and wanton murder. And at the same time? The Purge, the Lotus, the New Order - where we side and step, there's another side, a counterstrike. We save undesirables, we lose our people. We fight with the Inquisitors, we lose our families. We side with the rebellion, we put the nail in our own coffin. These things, we've realistically seen the back and forth of. But so much, for so long, we haven't. And we want to rectify that.

Sins III is going to look at another of Arcona's Sins, and make use of our more criminal element. And it's not just Arcona that's going to hurt - it's everyone around her, everyone she touches. Because guess what? When you fire that first shot, you never know whose children are going to bleed, whose world will fall apart, who is going to fall and who is going to rise, who is going to die and who is going to live...and who is going to tell the story when all is said and done. When you fire that first shot, you start an entire chain of events you cannot possibly be prepared to face.

And Arconans? We've fired many shots. Some thrown away for nothing, some gaining us plenty, but most...who can say? The only certain thing is that now, and in the coming months, we're going to have to own up.

Be ready.

State of our Clan

”I know the action in the street is excitin'

But Jesus, between all the bleedin’ ‘n fightin’

I’ve been readin’ ‘n writin’

We need to handle our financial situation

Are we a nation of states what’s the state of our nation?”

Ask the Proconsul

”I’m past patiently waitin' I’m passionately mashin’ every expectation

Every action’s an act of creation

I’m laughin' in the face of casualties and sorrow

For the first time, I’m thinkin’ past tomorrow

And I am not throwing away my shot!”

Timeros: #AskthePCON What do you believe to be the most unique, interesting and innovative competition in the next episode of Sins of the Past?

While I am a huge fan of traditional competition options (fiction, graphics, poems, etc) I’m particularly excited for an old fashioned hunt to take place. I don’t want to spoil anything but I think there will be a good chance for a fun out of the box competition coming up.

Atyiru: #AskthePCON how's prison life under the citadel?

Atyiru, we studied and we fought and we killed

For the notion of a Clan we now get to build

For once in your life, I am glad to see you take a stand with pride.

Katicorn: #AsKtHePcOn Who would be better to deal with: Arconans or deranged children and is there any difference between them?

I have to admit I prefer Arconans despite their tendency towards rainbows, unicorns and black cloaks and brooding attitudes.

Rulvak: #AskThePCon How's the Titanfall 2 trial going?

I think it’s gone well, we seem to have roughly 12-14 members currently across the Brotherhood split between PS4, Xbox and PC. The majority seem to be PS4 users, but without a doubt we could build a healthy community of individuals for the game.
