As Dajorra melted away into the slipstreams of lightspeed, Marick let out a long breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. He tore his eyes away from the viewport and moved mechanically through the motions of adjusting his robes so that they sat just right. The mantle shifted down his shoulder, so he set it back to its proper place and made a quick adjustment. He smoothed out the crease in the pleat of his pant leg. Just so.

It had been quite some time since he donned the Invicta robes, but there was a familiarity to the lightweight mantle and simple dark cloth. War was coming, though, and recent events had forced him to move quicker than he had originally intended.

There was nothing to do now but wait.

"Are you sure this is the best idea, boss?" Aceleous, one of Marick’s Fades, asked over the tick-tack of fingers over a portable computer. "I know you've been communicating with her, but you haven't made a trip back in over a year. Aren't you worried that the Consortium will try and strike back somehow?" The Hapan slicer was oddly serious, a grand departure from his usual sarcasm.

"We don't have much choice in the matter," Marick replied calmly. “She owes me more than a favor, and it’s time to cash it in.”

Silence.

Kris Erinos, Marick’s other Fade and personal pilot was the first to break it. “Do you really think Legorii will be able to handle the situation back there? This isn’t one of your tests, it’s a real threat,” she gestured with a thumb over a shoulder.

“I’m aware of the threat, Erinos,” Marick retorted evenly. “People overlook Legorii because he’s stood in my shadow. I think the light will reveal the truth of the matter--there are few alive I trust more with the matter at hand.”

Kris started to reply, but a silent headshake from Ace told her it was time to drop the subject.

And so the Pendragon II pushed towards the Hapes Cluster, and the Shadow Lord of Clan Arcona steeled himself for the trial ahead.

News

This will be one of my shorter reports that I like to call "Updates.” I usually like to have a fun, Holiday-Special flavored report, but my time has been short and I'm writing this between support-tickets at work. On that note, I'd like to take a quick second to tell everyone that Outlook 2013 is a terrible program, and if you can avoid it, avoid it ALL costs. My god is it terrible. Apple Mail is a close second, and all e-mail should just be handled by Google since they are the only ones who seem to get how it is supposed to work.

My new job is going well. I'm getting along with all my co-workers (I'm as lovely as the moon, so duh) and really enjoy helping people with their computer issues. It is the stuff I loved to do back when I worked at Apple, but without the passive aggressive managers breathing over your shoulder and asking you why you didn't force-feed a customer some bullcrap service they didn't want/need.

The lifestyle is certainly a shift. While I do get a shiny new laptop that lets me write on the go a bit easier, I work pretty much 14 hours a day and when I come home I do my best to hop on IRC and chat with everyone. I just wanted to remind all of you that regardless of this, I'm always here if you need me. E-mail is typically the best, but I also check my WhatsApp and GChat frequently throughout the day.

Leaving On a Jet Plane...

I will be taking an LOA starting Monday, December 15th, that will go until December 26th. I will be in Israel and might have wi-fi during the nights at hotels but will be otherwise unavailable and "off-grid". In the meantime, Legorii will be acting Consul of Arcona.

Valtiere Steps Down As QUA of House Qel-Droma

It is with a heavy heart I announce that Valtiere, aka Will aka Gilberto is stepping down from his position as Quaestor. Valt has served long and hard (giggity) in the name of Arcona and has been a force of nature since his days as a humble Battleteam Leader. I'd like you all to join me in expressing our gratitude and give thanks to everything he's done for Arcona and House Qel-Droma.

Usually, this would mean that I open up Applications for the position of Quaestor. However, in my sagely wisdom, I'm going to pull my veteran card here and make an executive decision on something I don't believe anyone will gripe with.

Since joining Arcona three months ago, Turel has come in like a wrecking ball (...was going to say PokeBall, but I digress) of activity and leadership. He has made quick work of integrating himself into the Arconan Summit and has been a huge drive behind Qel-Droma's recent success. Legorii and I are both confident that he has the skillset required to handle the position of Quaestor, and rather than waste time on searching, we are officially making him the new Quaestor of House Qel-Droma.

This means that we will be in need of a new Aedile in HQD. Applications will be opened starting immediately and will close Monday, December 15th at 12:00PM EST. These Applications will be limited to Clan Arcona ONLY. Unfortunately we will not be taking any outside applications this time around.

Applicants should have:

• A concrete plan of action and ideas to help improve the House. (Does not need to be 30/60/90 as I find them a bit too rigid)
• Past leadership in the Brotherhood and notable achievements.
• Leadership experience outside of the club or in real life that may be relevant.
• ~ >24 Hour email turn-around.
• IRC presence.
• Rank of at least Jedi Hunter. (Never a real hard truth, but something we strongly look at in terms of experience/time in the DB.)
• Answer the Question: “Why do I want to be an Aedile?”

Typical Aedile duties include:

• Assisting your Quaestor with the monthly reports.
• Assist with being conscious of members’ activity and responsible for keeping track of when they are due a medal or promotion.
• Assisting with the writing of supporting recommendations for medals and promotions.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the members of your House.
• Being prepared to step up into the role of Quaestor should the Quaestor need to step away for a short period of time.

Operation: Resurgence

As you can see from my short report fiction, Arcona has launched a Clan-Wide run-on that builds on the stories of the previous House Run Ons. We're already a few posts in, and I look forward to reading the whole thing when I get back to town :).
