Clan Naga Sadow Rollmaster Report

Greetings Clan Naga Sadow! Welcome to my first report as Rollmaster. This is going to be a very brief report that is mostly to introduce myself and give an overview of what I am going to do as Rollmaster.

Lets start off simple? Shall we.

My name is Teu Bukhari, I have been in the club for 7 years. I’ve for the most part been in Clan Naga Sadow for most of my time in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, with only a minor stint in Arcona a year ago or so. I am not a stranger to the Summit position I currently hold, I was Rollmaster when we first reclanned several years back, upon which I became Quaestor decided I did not like the job and went back to Rollmaster and then I became Proconsul. In the real world, I am currently in semester two of nursing school, talk about a commitment that requires but this club gives me a bit of free time of not worrying about Nursing Care Plans or Databases and such. So go go Rollmaster!

Master Student Program

I made mention to changes that I am going to make to the position. One of my joys of this position is the Master Student Program. This at times is a neglected portion that I always thing is kind of sad. The program is there for both those already a Knight and those looking to be knighted a way to create not only lasting relationships but allow the Master to take what they learned and give it to the Student to pass on, but also the Master to learn something from the student and use that in their DB career.

Wait?!

Take a look at the last line again.

The Master to learn from the student?! Does that happen? Why yes yes it does. I have had two apprentices Knighted and gone beyond both have been Consul for this clan. We are not only friends but they have both taught me invaluable skills as a leader even after our formal Master Student pairing ended. The one helped me learn to write better.

But with all good things, there are always the bad. Not all pairings work, sometimes the student goes awol or the master goes awol and that could create a situation where the student or master is not getting the most out of the program. With that I have decided to begin to implement a policy, for those who remember when I was Rollmaster previously this is pretty much identical to that one. The basis for the MSP is communication between the Master, the student and also the Rollmaster. My job is to ensure that both parties are doing their job in this pairing and if I find that is not the case I will be forced to make a decision to dissolve the pairing if I need to. There are certain ciritiera for when I will step in and intervene in the pairing.

There are responsibilities that both parties must do. And they are outlined below.

The Master:
-Must email the RM every two weeks with an update on their student, this is namely a check in to ensure that they are maintaining contact with their student. If this is not done after 3 check ins, I will intervene and figure out how to handle the pairing.
-Must contact their student as often as possible but preferably once a week to ensure the student is up-to-date on the students’ progress with their promotion requirements.

The Student:

-Must maintain contact with their master by keeping their master apprised of their current status in the promotion requirements, should their master be out of contact they should contact the Rollmaster.

In the event that the Master does not email the Rollmaster, the Rollmaster shall initiate contact with the Master and get an update. Should the Master miss the second check in the Rollmaster will look into the pairing and determine where the issue lies as well as remind the Master they must contact the Rollmaster in two weeks or face a dissolving of the pairing.

The rationale behind this is simple, by the time the third missed check in comes there has been 6 weeks for the issues to be resolved. If in six weeks there is not change then the pairing is not conductive to its goal and could face being broken.

Possible causes for this could include;
-Student went AWOL, should this occur the student/Master pairing is dissolved and the Master is free to pick another student.
-Master went AWOL, should this one occur the pairing is dissolved and the Student is paired with another Master (This could be with a Master who already has a student but is upon the determination of the RM if there are not enough open Masters) The Master is then removed from the program until such time as they can fully commit to the requirements.
-Both Master and Student went AWOL, the pairing is dissolved.

Next in terms of the Master Student Program, during my time as Rollmaster I will not be taking a student. The reasoning behind this is simple; I did it previously as Rollmaster. I work with all students from the time they join the clan until they are paired with a Master and in events they don’t wish to take part in the MSP beyond that point.
