Clan Vizsla Report 1.1

Introduction

Members of Clan Vizsla

I hope you all are doing well and staying warm.

It’s been a busy six weeks since my last post and I couldn’t be happier to see all the activity filling up my inbox (who needs filters…). Competition wins, promotions earned, awards well deserved, and most importantly – millions of credits have entered our coffers. It pays well to be in Vizsla.

I do apologize that there wasn’t a report in October to highlight more of these achievements. Between Pro bowl, keeping the baby fed, attending multiple thanksgivings, and completing harvest on the farm – it was a busy month that delayed this report. Yet, as you all know, there’s been plenty happening behind the scenes with in-depth discussions in our #warchat, great ideas being shared with the summit, and an ongoing push to make Vizsla the home of the DJB’s Diablo 4 community :D

Well that said, let’s get to this month’s report...

Results of Survey

As many of you will remember, we ran a survey shortly after the summit change and we had some good discussions in our #warchat regarding people's expectations regarding our clan narrative. Some quick stats from the survey:

  • A three-way tie, the most popular (77.8%) activities folks are interested in: Gaming, Fiction, and Trivia activities.
  • The next most popular activities are: Flash games (66.7%), ACC (55.6%), Graphics/Art (44.4%)
  • When it comes to reading stories in the club, 44.4% of folks read ‘as much as they can’. After this it was an even split (22.2%) between those that ‘aren’t here for the narrative’ and those that will read the DJB-wide narrative ‘if it includes Vizsla’.
  • Almost everyone (77.8%) is okay with their character being used in clan fiction, with 22.2% saying they were ‘okay, depending on how’ their character is used.
  • A high majority (88.9%) report wanting to see the clan story being impacted by individual efforts such as competition winners, while 55.6% also said they were interested in the collective performance of the clan impacting the story.
  • A majority (75%) were interested in Clan Updates having 2-3 Points of View, with the inclusion of 1-5 mentions of other characters - making updates roughly 4-8 pages long
  • While a majority (55.6%) reported that these Clan Updates be “Merit Preference”, meaning POV will be determined by merit while mentions & side characters should be turn based

Personally, I found a lot of interesting information in the survey that will be used to plan out future events and campaigns. For example, we know gaming is a point of pride for Vizsla and it’s good to see what other activities folks are interested in so we can run more of these activities. I’m also glad to see a healthy interest in the clan narrative and we will use the voted on preferences to plan out how we develop content.

Thank you to all of those that participated.

Clan Narrative Outline

Following up on our discussion of clan narratives, I’ve been getting a lot of questions on how or if things will change from the retcon that Sarin started last December. Simply put, I seek to continue what Sarin started and move us to a standing of our own. Thanks to Mako, the summit has been provided with a lot of documents regarding Sarin’s vision and that gave us a great place to start. In discussion with several of you, we have recovered other documents that we intend to canonize and branch out from. This will take some balance but, bless him, Sarin gave us the guidance in his planning document and these will be the core values in developing the clan narrative:

  • We are not bound to the past, but we will work to respect the efforts of those before us
  • Vizsla’s fictional culture will be focused on an equal inclusive of both Mandos and Mercs
  • Establish a clear creed for Vizsla’s Mandos that recognizes some traditions from other Mando creeds

Campaign Update

The Damned Damsel campaign will be continuing! For those needing a refresher, we launched the campaign with the clan story: Chaos Chosen. There are several parts owed to the clan as advertised. Allow me to run you through the development.

Merit Based Recognition

As discussed in our survey results, a majority (75%) were interested in Clan Updates having 2-3 Points of View, with the inclusion of 1-5 mentions of other characters - making updates roughly 4-8 pages long. In addition, a majority (55.6%) reported that these Clan Updates be “Merit Preference”, meaning POV will be determined by merit (currently using top credit earners) while mentions & side characters should be turn based. Therefore we will use this formula for the forthcoming updates.

As such, we’ve worked out the following timeline to catch up on the updates and recognition you all deserve:

Timeline of Upcoming Updates

Date Title Members Recognized
Nov 14 Misfortune Aug Top Credit Earners: Kora, Azler, Tater
Nov 21 Salt In The Wound Sept Top Credit Earners: Kora, Azler, Tater
Nov 28 Blood Bowl Oct Top Credit Earners: Kora, Azler, Tater
Dec 5 Holiday Event Stand Alone Fiction
Dec 29 TBA Nov Top Credit Earners: Pending (Lets unseat Kora/Azler/Tater plz :P )

As you can see, over the next several weeks we will bring the narrative up to date. December will see a brief pause to the campaign as we bring back a holiday event while the new year will see us return to stride as we plan to launch Great Hunt X during Q1 of 2026.

Story Group

As discussed in the Clan Address, we will be launching a group responsible for world building and further developing our lore. My goal for such a group will be to first develop the following:

  • What is our Creed?
  • Points of Interest (including planetary buildings so we can spend credits)
  • Spending our clan coffers on military upgrades
  • Planning One-off Events & Member-led Campaigns

The survey identified 3 individuals (Haro, Kanal, & Kora) in addition to the summit that will be part of this story group. We will be launching the group with it’s own channel along with the non-chat Clan Announcements channel later this week. Should you be interested in joining this group on the ground level, send Raiju a DM or email.

Bounty Boards

While this topic was discussed in our #warchat recently, I wanted to flag it for those that may have missed the discussion. For the past 3 months, the bounty boards have been opened DB-wide. There is no desire to run all clan comps at the club level, just the bounty board. That change initially happened under Drac, and as he reported on discord, he was tired of not seeing enough participation in the comps. This is a sentiment I share, it’s disheartening to run competitions that only have 1 or 2 names show up. However, I noticed that when opened to DB-wide there were some comps that were getting upgraded depending on participation so when Drac resigned and I moved in CON, I decided to keep the bounty boards open to all and offer alternative competitions for as clan-only (ie. Clan Archives).

I encourage you all to look at the bounty board as a XP and credit opportunity, open to the club. Gives our folks a chance to earn higher awards with the added participation. But we’ve started the vizsla archives as an alternative so the membership can get some vizsla-only opportunities while also contributing to clan world building with the winning entries. However, following the internal chat in #warchat the other day, it was decided that this will be the last time non-vizsla will get participation credit in Clan Archive events. Non-Vizsla are welcome on the bounty board and will have the chance for placing as well as participation. However, starting in December, if non-vizsla attempt to submit to the Archive comps, these will be marked as non-participants to protect the Archive events as purely a clan only resource. I plan to do the same with the holiday event next month since the Archives will take a break until January.

To align with these decisions, future bounty board and clan archive competitions will have a disclaimer in the competition details making it clear what is Vizsla-only and what is open club-wide.

The XP System and You

Ad Vizsla Leaderboard

This past month many of the veteran members of the clan received an email from myself regarding ‘banked’ XP. As most of you are now aware, there was some confusion on how long medal XP could sit unrecognized and this was something that was brought up to the MAA for clarification.

The key understanding to take is that once a member has climbed the DC-AK ladder and made it into PAS status, the summit is to award according to what medal XP has been earned since the last award and also to award regularly so a member ideally is receiving something every 3-6 months. If a member is working towards a specific award, we can hold for that within reason and this is something the MAA & staff will be looped in on. As long as reasonable progress is made, we could get approved to hold up to a year max but at that point we gotta call it. Therefore, this means that medal XP cannot be ‘banked’ indefinitely.

I know this is frustrating for some of you as you have heard or understood the XP system differently. To those of you that are sitting on large pools of XP, you’ve all received emails from me outlining our options - thanks to those that responded with their choice on path. We will be moving forward this week.

DJB Career Planning

Something I’d like to make clear on this experience: the summit is here to work with you on your goals. If you are working on achieving a certain award, rank, or society progress - our job is to help you get there. We want to know what you are working on, we will plan opportunities to assist you to get there, we will even game with you or schedule social nights to provide assistance and/or accountability. The entire summit team is focused on this so please make use of us. Start with an email or DM to your Quaestor

Non-site XP

There are always available opportunities to earn non-site XP for awards and promotions. Wiki work, participation in the story group, creating graphics, mapmaking, creature and NPC design <- all of this can be tracked for non-site XP. Content creation will always have a place in our award system and if you’d like to do this for Vizsla than send Azler & myself a DM or email to get started.

Ad Vizsla Race

Finally, in connection with career progression, many of you have made great gains towards Ad Vizsla over the last month. We’ve had some jockeying on the leader board and there’s at least two of you that potentially could break 2million credits by the end of this year. I’m looking forward to making the title announcements so get at it!

PCON Intro - Azler Here

Greetings everyone!

As I'm sure plenty have noticed around the Discord, I'm Azler and I'll be serving as your new Proconsul for the foreseeable future. Personal Breakdown; Joined the Club as a member of Clan Satal Keto 22 years ago, back in 2003, and yes that hurt me as much as it probably did several of you.

I pride myself on being a logical-oriented person who isn't afraid to let passion and fun make him indulge in dumb things every now and then. I have been writing as a passion hobby for roughly 20 years, am a big lover of Fantasy, have been playing/DMing D&D for roughly 10 years, heavily enjoy anything with a good plot, especially games such as Final Fantasy and Persona, and I genuinely like helping people where I can, being particularly group-minded - your success is our success. For those interested in the stars within this Star Wars club, I'm an Aries and a Yang Earth Dragon, western and eastern Zodiacs respectively.

Character Breakdown; Surprisingly I've had only one character (Though he has changed his name several times to 'start fresh') through all this time until just earlier this year when I expanded, and while I plan to eventually have a full 4 'Supporting' characters, I am one of those very foolish lots who consider himself to have 2 mains lol

While my previous main, who will be referenced as 'Puck' going forward, is not the type to (openly) hold a political position, Kindle has big plans and is stepping forward for the PCON role. Very 'Dragon' coded, and for actual personal in-character reasons beyond my own obsession with them, he views the Clan as his kin and has found the Mando lifestyle very compatible with his personal views on many topics - with Vizsla's focus on Credits being a great excuse to build his own private hoard. Above many other things, however, he believes a Leader should lead, and thus you will often find him at the front of frontlines when he can, fighting alongside everyone else to achieve our goals.

Looking forward to working with all of you and I hope in time to prove myself in the way that Vizsla cares most about - Credits, not words.

Current Operations:

Vizsla October Bounty Board Remember: the October BB is still running! We extended this BB due to Pro Bowl & Seasons taking much of the focus last month. These comps end Nov 15th.

Vizsla November Bounty Board We returned to regular programming for the BB for November. These comps run until the end of the month

Social Nights

With Pro Bowl and Seasons concluded, we returned to planning Social Nights. Valhavoc had a great showing last week with more than 12 Vizsla members coming on at the same time. We are planning some more coming up:

  • November 14 – The D4 crew plan to hit Gorefest hard this weekend. This is your final warning to get your characters leveled up beforehand. Drac has offered help to anyone that needs to powerlevel beforehand.
  • November 16 – Did you know that SWTOR has dynamic encounters? Come join Raiju @ 8pm EST as we play through some and see what the excitement is.
  • November 23 – I have a goal of hitting 3000XP this month, what’s your goal? Do you need some Body Doubling Support? Sometimes I do, so let’s jump into a chat together and hold each other accountable while we pour through the DJB competition list and earn some credits/XP. Starting @ 1pm EST and concluding at Kanal’s trivia time (4pm EST).

Pro Bowl Highlights

Congratulations Frogdogs!

This was a fun event to host and judge. I was delighted to see our Vizsla Captains (Azler & Kanal) have a friendly rivalry throughout drafting and into the event. Thank you both for your efforts to rally the troops and give assistance in the team channels. Some quick stats: * Vizsla had 14 participants, with 135 entries * In comparison to last year, with 92 entries, Vizsla increased its YoY entries by 43 * Our Top 5 participants by points: Kora (193.98), Azler (175.96), Tater (127.72), Kanal (104.03), and Brimstone (92). Well done all of you!

Congrats Kora!

With 26 entries and 193.98 points, Kora was easily our highest contributor to the event! No doubt this contributed to your Amethyst Kukri and promotion. Well done!

Coming Events

  1. Holiday Event: A certain pink armoured Mando will be returning December 5th with an axe to grind.
  2. Seasons Cycle 4: In the new year we will see the fourth cycle of Parabellum. This will be your final chance to collect Seasonal points towards the trophy and credit bonus.
  3. Great Hunt X: As described before, The Damned Damsel campaign will led us to the next Great Hunt. Expect this by the end of Q1 of the new year.

In Closing

Things are progressing on our projects, at least 2 members are within arm’s reach of ad Vizsla, and we have millions in credits to spend. We had a good showing in the Pro Bowl, we have a developing fiction community, and an ever-strong gaming community. Keep at it, Vizsla.
