Consul Report #4: Enemies Old And New

Taldryan Republic: Fallout
Supreme Chancellor’s office
Taldryan Senate Complex
Kasiya
The door to the Supreme Chancellor’s office slid open with an almost imperceptible hiss. The sole occupant was seated behind his desk, a look of focus and intent plastered plainly on his face as he watched a holorecording. Behind him the wide window had been shuttered, so the only light within the room was the glowing blue emanating from the holo. The recording clicked off and though his look was only brief, the new arrival could make out the form of the Vice Chancellor, Maeva, providing some sort of debrief to her superior before it faded from view.
“Colonel, thank you for taking the time to come see me.” Supreme Chancellor Narman Losa Taldrya stood, pressing a button to uncover the window and striding over to the doorway to greet Shanree Argentin. Golden sunlight poured in behind him. They shared the warm handshake of men who had served in combat alongside one another on more than a few occasions. “I hope you have had a chance to relax and refresh after the conflict with the Collective?”
“Only as much as I was required to.” The Miraluka remarked with a smile, following Narman back toward his desk. “You know me, if I idle for too long I start to get grumpy. No one wants to experience that if they can avoid it.” Narman chuckled.
“I know that well, believe me. I certainly do not intend to get in your way.” The Supreme Chancellor stood behind his desk, beside the large window, silhouetted against the bright afternoon sun. “Your efforts against the Collective did not go unnoticed. You are without a doubt one of our most valuable assets within the Republic and also the core of Taldryan itself.”
“Do you have a mission or did you just ask me here to sweet-talk me?” The generally stoic former medic cracked a smile at the Miraluka’s directness, but he couldn’t blame him. Since Narman had risen to his position he rarely called someone into this office unless he needed something from them.
“Actually, I do.”
OSI Listening Outpost
Undisclosed Location
The rhythmic creaking of a chair was the only sound to be heard throughout the dimly lit office floor, illuminated almost entirely from holoscreens as dozens of analysts combed through intercepted communications from across the system. One such analyst, a young Rodian who had been working for twelve hours already, was the culprit of the noise, his leg anxiously shaking. He had his headgear halfway off and he was absentmindedly scrolling through the files, only partially listening to them. His mind was elsewhere. This analyst had met a cute Zabrak at the local cantina the day before and was daydreaming about seeing him again. He almost missed it.
“...clear to move in, Waterfront target is go.”
‘Waterfront target?’ The Rodian rewound the audio file and played it from the beginning.
“Alpha has the security handled. Bravo, you’re clear to move in, Waterfront target is go.”
The Analyst bolted up to his feet, the headset ripping from his ears and dangling below the terminal. He stumbled past his chair and took off down the narrow hallway, all the previous lethargy replaced by adrenaline. He burst into his supervisor's office, nearly knocking over her assistant in the process.
“Ma’am! You need to hear this!”

Hello Taldryanites and visitors from afar, thank you for joining me for my fourth report as Consul! Somehow they haven't fired me yet! Let's skip the preamble and jump right into it with a summary of the fiction:
TL;DR
- Narman calls Shanree into his office for a friendly chat - definitely no ulterior motive.
- An OSI Analyst makes a startling discovery.
- Simultaneous attacks on the Ektrosis Waterfront, the Consortium of Free Merchants sector, and the Axios.
- Two more attacks thwarted, one in Aidos and one in Caleria.
- OSI Director Farrow debriefs the Supreme Chancellor and military leaders on their findings, that the explosives used were of Imperial design and the communications originated in the Verada sector.
This all leads us into our next Clan event, Taldryan Republic: Fallout, running for one month, from August 23rd to September 23rd. In the immediate aftermath of the attacks, with the Navy and OSI still trying to put all the pieces together, they’ll rely on your firsthand accounts to form the full picture. This event has four competitions; fiction, graphics, flash game, and word search. See a brief description below. Each competition will award points for placement and participation, the member with the most overall points at the end of the event will be the winner!
Fiction - Eyes Of The Republic
Choose between two prompts - either the thwarted attack in Aidos or the aftermath of the attack on the Ektrosis Waterfront - and write a story from your character’s POV; minimum 500 words.
Graphics - Explosive Artistry
Using traditional or digital means, depict one of the explosion sites, either during the attack or shortly after; easy difficulty.
Flash Game - Keeping Your Blades Sharp
Play the flash game and attempt to get the highest score possible in survival mode.
Word Search - Analysing The Source
Self explanatory, complete the word search in the fastest time.
Taldryan Republic: Fallout will lead directly into the Pro Bowl, which will officially kick off at the beginning of October. Our team captains are: Techsketch for the Frogdogs, and Jenni for the Rotworms. Look out for the beginning of the event and prepare the hype!
There is also a Brotherhood-wide graphics competition, beginning at site rollover on August 19th and running until September 30th, that focuses on creating scenes from three different Taldryan Republic cities. See the full competition details here:
Taldryan Cityscapes
Note: These competitions are all Regular difficulty.
