Consul Report September 2022

-=| Vizsla Datacron |=-

When we created the Clan Artifacts we had one that we knew what we wanted but hadn't worked out how to award it. The Vizsla Datacron has been basically sitting in my loadout with no real use. After some discussions, Juda and I have decided on what I think is the best course of action with this artifact. As the Clan Title is awarded by earning credits it seems only fitting that the Datacron do so as well. The top credit earner that does not already have a clan artifact will now receive the datacron on a quarterly basis.

The first recipient of the Vizsla Datacron is Chrome. The next quarter will end at the first of 2023. Between now and then there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to earn credits and wrestle the datacron away from Chrome.

-=| RP Sessions |=-

We are just over 2 months into the focus on RP sessions. Our first session was a great success with half of Vizsla participating nearly. (Plus Anubis) Wally ran a more D&D style RP session that, just from observing, looked like a lot of fun and has given me a few ideas for future events. Thanks again Wally for a great RP.

We are into our 3rd session this one with a plot and some dynamics I am throwing out there to test. If you haven’t participated in them, they are a lot of fun and earn Cluster of Ice. I have enjoyed writing with others and using them for the development of my own Characters. The RP team that Arch has put together is doing a bang-up job in helping create content and templates for members to run their own. So if you have any ideas I am more than willing to listen and help you get an RP session set up and running.

-=| Pro Bowl |=-

Ah, the Pro Bowl, is back and bigger than ever. We had a lot of fun last year participating and running it. This year will be no different other than it is bigger with most of the Brotherhood agreeing to participate. Since Slagar already posted it I will plagiarise his report and give you the details:

Schedule:
The Pro Bowl will be running on a very similar schedule to last year, with our prologue week event starting September 26th. Then, we will have three single-week rounds following that with the entire event ending on October 23rd. Full week-by-week breakdowns are as follows:

  • Prologue: September 26th - October 2nd
  • Week One: October 3rd - October 9th
  • Week Two: October 10th - October 16th
  • Week Three: October 17th - October 23rd

Scoring:
Something that has been carried over from Pro Bowls past, is an emphasis on showing up. Every member, every entry will contribute to the overall score of each team, and lead one of them to victory. Contributions big and small up and down the roster, just like the 53-man roster of an American football team, are meaningful! This can be seen in the Pro Bowl scoring system:

Each individual will earn five points per event they participate in. Participation is defined as a valid submission for an event. Simply signing up for an event or uploading an unqualified submission will not count. You have to put in the effort in order to receive the reward. Participation will earn 5 points.

Additionally, the top three individuals in each event will earn placement modifier points. First place will earn 4 points, second place will earn 3 points, and third place will earn 2 points, and all other entries will earn 1 point. Events themselves will have modifiers based on their perceived difficulty/level of effort required. For example: the modifier for fiction will be 3, the modifier for gaming/graphics/poetry will be 2, and no modifier will be added to puzzle/trivia/flash events.

Grading formula: (Placement Score * Event Modifier) + Participation = Event Score

At the end of the competition, the individual scores for all three weeks will be added up, and the top three individuals will earn crescents for the overall competition. Total scores for both teams, including the Prologue Week event, will determine the victorious team.

The trick here is that Clan affiliation matters for nothing. It is all about the Frogdogs and the Rotworms. The way the scoring is designed is that participation matters more than placement. Only 3 people earn a bonus for placement but everyone that participates gets a solid 5 points for each competition. Teams can literally out-participate those winning the events. Not saying you don’t try to get the crescents but no one should feel like they can’t contribute because they are not good at something. Every single competition matters.

Headmaster is open for applications Here and closes on September 16th.

Applications Open For Shar Dakhan Aedile just a couple of days left to apply.

The Fist Has made some nice changes to the awarding of Clusters for gaming.

Last, of all I will be on vacation from September 24th to October 1st. Juda will have the comm while I am away as my internet access (and desire to be on it.) will be limited severely as I will be on a ship in the middle of the caribbean for most of the week. It sucks but someone has to do it.

Good report! The RP sessions have been enjoyable and I’m looking forward to the Pro Bowl.
