Introduction

Hello COU, I’m not gonna lie, if you had asked me back when I first joined the Clan after applying to be BTS of KoA in 2015, I never would have guessed I would be here. So, who did y'all get stuck with for your new PCon? Well, I am Tisto. I have been in leadership across the whole of the clan over the years. My first leadership position was Battle Team Sergeant of KoA, where I was shown the ropes by Liam and Jack for five months, before taking over for eleven months before I retired the first time. Two years later I became the Aedile for House Shan for two months before getting promoted to Quaestor for the last three months of the House’s existence. In this time I was tasked with the merging of Hoth and Shan into Sunrider and giving it an initial direction. From there I was named as the Quaestor of Sunrider for three months, before stepping back as my schedule got more filled; at that point Revak led the house and I remained as Aedile for seven months. More recently. I was Quaestor of House Hoth until last July, when I stepped down because my last year of college was shaping up to kick my butt. As a result, I have been almost everywhere in COU. The old, the new, the good, the bad, that time I tried to make being a master of Form 0 a thing. I like to think that leaves me open to a lot of the cool ideas y'all have put together. I am looking forward to serving you all in this role.

Fiction

Tisto looked down at his most recent assignment with a puzzled look.

Greetings Special Agent Tisto,

It is our honor to inform you that you are being elevated to Councilor of War. You are to continue your tasks, as per normal, but now are on the Council, with all of the responsibilities that come with it. Good Luck.

The Kiffar sighed. It was perhaps the most straightforward assignment he had ever gotten in SenNet, but did they even have the authority to do this? Tisto walked over to the staff buffet, grabbing a Bantha steak and some corn as he moved down the line and made his way over to a table.

That last report talked about something on the horizon, past the civil war. Something was coming to Kiast, and Tisto was supposed to start investigating that while pushing things in the civil war.

And now I have to be on the Council? You get one Agent who can control when he sleeps and you just give him everything.

He opened the datapad again, starting a message to High Councillor Turel.

Greetings High Councillor,

It seems we will be working together to right this ship. Can… I get a different position than Councilor of War? I don’t think any general is going to take me seriously with that. Councilor of Information maybe? Councilor of Works? I hope we aren’t just doing gang warfare from now on. That gets exhausting and I think it is my only qualification for Councilor of War. Also did you know that when you check the SenNet Records, that role directs you to the Sunrider Dossier? Someone should fix that. It’s going to be me isn’t it. Anyway, peace. Something is coming, and I don’t know how we are going to deal with that if we can’t solve this current issue.

The Kiffar paused, reviewing it. Can I be this informal in my first message in this role?

As we enter August, it is no surprise we have a new batch of Scimatar numbers. Now, the current sheet we use definitely could use some polishing and a bit of VLookUp to buff it out. However, I gotta say you all continue to impress me.

Congratulations to our top three this month: Kav, Seals, and Edgar. It was an impressive bout between the three of them. We had around 40 members earn some placement this month! Well done to everyone!

Ask the PCon

Corrina Asks:

• Which house is your favorite, and why is it Hoth?

• What project(s) are you most excited to work on?

I have been the Quaestor of Shan, Sunrider and Hoth in that order. To say I have a favorite house would be incorrect. I love you all equally. As for projects I am excited for? We have a possessions rework down the pipeline and that just screams spreadsheets.

Edgar Asks:

• Throughout your long history in the club what experience or thoughts that will help you make sure that each house summit has a say in the overall clan story?

• Is there a plan to preserve the clan / house lores so they are not rewritten every few months

What I would like to do is get a copy of the notes from each person who has led the Houses since they came back. One of the difficulties of continuing the lore is not receiving anything from the person before you. Ideally, we can keep some sort of log of the plans each House had in place so that the next person to take up the mantle has what they need to succeed.

Kav Asks:

• How would you describe your approach to problem solving?

• And what is one thing you have planned for the clan?

Depends on the problem. Percussive maintenance is often helpful for mechanical issues. For cars I prefer to go to the Chilton’s manual to diagnose the problem before picking up what I need. For RPGs I like to find what works, focus on that and rebuild what doesn’t work from the ground up. For interpersonal problems I prefer to face them directly so all parties are on the same page. Hopefully this helps.

Eeno Asks:

• Do you have any plans for the clan story for after Flashpoint is over? Thats an excellent question. I still need to get caught up on the back end of Flashpoint. I suspect both Houses have amazing things planned and once I am caught up, we can find a path for the Clan to take that doesn’t step on their toes.

Turel Asks:

• If you could get one possession buy auto-approved, what would it be?

I would buy a Regiment, and name it Shan. Then I would take all of our Battle Teams that I could (Tython Squadron and The Wildcards not included as they are not the right kind of possessions) and make them all Companies in Shan. This would be the Jenessari, KoA, Disciples of Baas, Strike Team Ooroo, Zirael and Garza’s Pathfinders. The goal of this would be to follow the Odanite Code and honor what has come before us, while giving folks more things to play with. A whole bunch of Wiki work would be needed to update their status, and leave former leaders as notable members that hold no position but get a salute when they pass by. Then, anyone could use them in Fiction entries, and if we see someone say, win Flashpoint’s fictions and their fiction involves them working with the Pathfinders, add them to the list of notable members.

But, like all major decisions, this should also be up to the Clan on some level, not just myself.

Tor Asks:

• When are we all transitioning to gym-shorts based uniforms?

As of five seconds ago I* definitely* 100% told the Herald staff to only give COU members access to booty shorts for robes. I would never lie to anyone about this whatsoever :P

Conclusion
