These dates are the 4th of May, which is the Star Wars Day, and the 16th od December, when the first Dark Covenant (the most important document of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood) has been ratified.

On the Star Wars Day 2016, three members of our Clan have been awarded Seals of Loyalty for their excellent service to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. They are Mako Henymory, Turel Sorenn and Corvus Corax. Congratulations!

Projects

I have finished introducing necessary adjustments to the COU stories writing guideline. It will be released via e-mail soonr, but I am going to put it online elsewhere, so that it may be easily accessible by current and future members of our Clan.

I am still working on leadership training programme. Unfortunately, due to real life constraints, it will take me another two weeks to finish it. Stay tuned!

Competitions

As promised, I have finally prepared some character development competitions. Each of them will last two weeks and give you an opportunity to describe important moments from the past of your character. Two of them will start shortly.

What to do – Graphics

Lightsabers, blasters, robes and armours, warbanners, accessories and other stuff like that...They are cool, aren't they? You may have wondered, where do they come from. The answer is short and easy – they are pieces of graphics, prepared by the artists of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood and some external professionals (mainly images of characters).

Indeed, the members of office of the Herald (the one, who is responsible for preparing official graphic materials for the Brotherhood) are constantly busy. They have to deal with numerous requests for all the fancy things we dream about to have on our dossiers.

This is why, it is always a good thing to try your skills in graphics, especially that there are numerous competitions regarding this field of activity. As in case of writing stories, you do not have to be a master of graphics. If you just can hand draw stuff or use graphic programmes to work things out and have just a little bit of artistic sense, do not be afraid and give it a try.

Remember that you need to practice, in order to develop your skills, so do not waste any chance to participate in graphic competitions or just do the things our of competition. There is also a special group for DJB artists, where you may exchange opinions and experiences, as well as learn new things. One day, you may get hired by your House / Clan Summit or by the Herald to prepare graphic materials for the official purposes. It is a nice opportunity to grab a nice shiny for your efforts.

Ask the Rollmaster

Following the example of other leaders of the Brotherhood, I have created this section to allow everyone to ask me questions. The most interesting ones will be answered in the reports.

Turel Sorren asks: How do you envision the in-character role of the rollmaster?

Answer: Fictionally, I imagine it to be very much a mentor to young Jedi / new members of the Clan, dealing with basic training and lots of paperwork. Also, seeking for new candidates to join the Clan and probably getting supplies for our operations.

Mako Henymory asks: With the changes in the clan lore recently how are you planing on integrating/indoctrinating those below knight and new joins into the broad tapestry that is COU?

Answer: Our current fictional background makes the circumstances a bit more difficult. Until we get the approval to create a new star system, we are on the run. While it fictionally makes it hard to recruit new people, it also gives us a good indoctrination reason – the treachery of the Iron Throne and the fact that our small fleet makes it tough to have a different opinion, as we need to work closely with each other, if we want to survive. When we finally settle down, it will open us more fictional options, like new Arca Praxeum, military academies and so on.

In real life view, I would like to work out a short guide regarding COU lore and basic stuff. It will probably reshape the introductory e-mails, but the issue must yet be discussed with the leaders of the Clan and its Houses, as we actually need more fictional details to be on right places to introduce this idea.

V'yr asks: How do you see social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc) and modern chat programs like Telegram being included into the Rollmaster's position? Do you think new arrivals are averse to e-mails and would rather be open to other methods for communication?

Answer: Everything depends on the circumstances. My real life education and experience tell me that the social media are a key to recruit young people and to chat with them. However, e-mail is still an important way to contact them. I believe that if we use them wisely, it may bolster our numbers and members retention. As dealing with recruitment and members retention is a job of a Rollmaster, it may be good to include them into the Rollmaster's job. After a long and thorough consideration.

Landon Cruise asks: When will your new storyline be complete? I'm interested in reading the wiki. With Xantros moving up as Rollmaster in Odan, I foresee this storyline being much longer than originally expected. I look forward to the end result and hoping for a spectacular ending.

Answer: My new storyline should be complete at the end of the year. However, my plans are not yet fully shaped, so everything may be postponed.

Final thoughts

Actually, it has been a relatively quiet month. Though many of our members have been promoted or granted merit awards, there has been a visible drop in overall activity level. I guess that it is the result of the Feud, which required us to take a lot of efforts to participate in as many competitions as possible. Hopefully, May will be a better month in this matter and I can see signs of the improvement. Keep up good job!

Respectfully,

Vanguard Xantros
