Kamjin stood at the window of the command bridge of the ISN Palpatine watching the other clan’s ships wink into hyperspace over Canto Bight. The meeting had been successful, despite the interruption by the continued assaults by the Children of Mortis.

“Helm, now that the rest of the bramble is out of the way, prepare to break orbit,” the captain said as he maneuvered the catwalk. His orders were momentarily paused as the blast doors opened with a barely audible woosh.

“You’re late, Thran,” Kamjin said, calmly.

“Don’t yell at me, Kam,” Thran muttered, rubbing his head. Kamjin turned and saw the haggard shape of his Proconsul looking like death warmed over and wearing the most ridiculously looking ocular shades.

“I didn’t yell and take those off your face,” Kamjin said. As Thran removed them his blood shot eyes blinked rapidly against the harsh light. “On second thought, put them back on. You look horrible.”

“Well, we don’t all get to spend all day in the comfy back rooms of Canto Bight. Some of us actually partook of the amenities,” Thran said, gesturing for an ensign to get him a glass of water and a bottle of pain relievers. “Just tell me you didn’t mess this up.”

Kamjin grimaced at the continued tone. He took a step closer to his Proconsul and whispered in his ear. “Don’t forget yourself. The roles we’ve chosen to play grant you a certain latitude in how you speak to me. Beware you lose yourself in your role and need to be recast.” Kamjin stepped back and struggled to tell if Thran was well enough to hear him or even to care.

“As it so happens, yes. I’ve arranged new trade deals with most of the clans. Particularly with Plagueis as they are greatly disposed to limiting their dependency upon Arx,” Kamjin said, turning back to face the viewport as the ship made the jump into hyperspace.

“And what of this rumor that we’ve agreed to end slavery?” Thran said, downing a handful of pain relievers and chugging the water to wash them down. Kamjin snapped his fingers and a yeoman appeared holding a datapad. Kamjin took it and keyed in a recent video for Thran.

“The Imperial Mission is here to help you all. Yes, yes, right this way,” a woman garbed in white with a silvery Scholae Palatinae crest upon her breast said, while helping an elder man up to the table. A long line of destitute humanoids stretched offscreen. “We know the devastation of the civil war and Children of Mortis have left you homeless, stole your possessions, but the Imperial Mission is here for you. Just fill out this simple form before you board the transport and you’ll have a warm meal while we relocate you and find your new opportunities.” The crowd cheered as the old man made his mark before a trooper helped him into the transport.

“Long live the Empire! Long live the Emperor!” the crowd chanted as Kamjin turned off the datapad.

“It’s not slavery if they sign up for it,” Kamjin said as he and Thran both chuckled.

TL:DR

  • The ProBowl has ended with Scholae Palatinae positioned as a new manufacturing power for the clans and setting themselves as rivals to Arx and its manufacturing might.
  • Kamjin and Thran continue to play all sides of the equation but no one knows if Kamjin and Thran are really working together or against each other.
  • Slavery has been outlawed as part of the Canto Bight accords. Scholae Palatinae has found a legal loophole and will continue the practice.

My apologies for the tardiness of this report. Between ProBowl, real-life work requiring 16-20 hours days, and a family medical emergency that saw us in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for the last week; I have not been able to prioritize this write-up.

I would like to thank my Summit, Adept Thran Occasus-Palpatine, Augur Reiden Palpatine Karr, and Battlelord Aldaric. Without being prompted they all leapt into action to complete the planning for Sithmas and ensure the day-to-day engagements for the Clan were being managed.

For all of you who shared your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes; thank you! Our youngest is home and appears to be well on his way to recovery. With that, let’s turn back to the happenings of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood and Scholae Palatinae.

ProBowl VI - The Rotworms Repeat!

This was my first ProBowl as a co-organizer and it was pure joy planning with Warlord DarkHawk Sadow, Warden Revak K'Urr, Master Selika Roh di Plagia, Augur Appius Taldrya Wight, and Colonel Korvis. Each brought their own perspective and passions to the planning and execution of this year’s event.

With that, the results are in!

An amazingly close race competition throughout the whole competition. To everyone who participated, cheered on, or was intrigued by this activity; thank you!

For us, a special thank you to Adept Thran Occasus-Palpatine and Battlelord Talon Jade for being our team captains!

CSP - Performance Review from 2020 - 2021 - 2022

So, this is a bit early for my annual year end assessment but, with the way the end of this year is shaping up there’s no reason not to do it earlier.

Scholae Palatinae has been on quite the journey from 2021 into 2022 and we’ve got the broad vision of 2023 already mapped out. Below I’ll highlight some key accomplishments from August, 2020-2021 to August, 2021-2022. I’ll try not to bore you all too much with tables.

Competitions:

While our total # of unique participants decreased slightly (30 to 28 or -6.67%) our number of total entries skyrocketed (1062 to 1976 or 86.06% increase). This means that while we have fewer unique individuals engaging in activities those that do are generating a considerable amount of activity.

CSP had the second highest increase in total entries amongst the seven clans.

Merits, Crescents, and Clusters:

For the August, 2020 to August 2021 timeframe Scholae Palatinae awarded 31 total awards, 5 of which were sacramentals (e.g.16.13% were sacramentals). For the same period of time 2021/2022 we awarded 52 awards, 12 of which were sacramentals.

For 2021/2022 during this time period Scholae Palatinae awarded the second most awards of the seven clans with a 53.85% increase in merit awards and 140% increase in sacramental awards. In addition, we were one of only two clans to have a member receive three sacramental awards during that time frame (Xantros).

We had 291 crescents and 6 novae awarded in 2020/2021. During 2021/2022 that grew to 671 crescents (130.58% increase) and 9 novae (50% increase).

Scholae Palatinae had the highest number of crescents awarded during this time period.

For clusters (I’m going with totals here) we had 3,514 in 2020/2021. We shattered that performance in 2021/2022 with a 291.8% increase to 13,768 clusters.

Scholae Palatinae had the second highest number of clusters during this time period in 2021/2022.

TL:DR:

Scholae Palatinae is punching well above her weight class right now. While we have seen some shifts in our membership we have a core group (both on Discord and outside of Discord) that will consistently submit for competitions and earn recognition.

As we look towards 2023 we’ll need to focus on new member retention and growth.

I recognize that all of these announcements went out via Discords; however, I feel horrible that my reports been delayed in getting these published so everyone can globally see all the great work that was accomplished over the past quarter.

What’s your favourite Ewok meat recipe - Appius Taldrya Wight

Personally I like tenderloin cooked over charcoal. Brush with butter and herbs until you hit that perfect, just tipping over to medium rare point.

I just spent a week at Jangururizoto Resort and Spa. I recommend the mudbath and sweat lodge. What is your favorite relaxation activity? - Thran

First, wonderful mention of our new Janguruizoto Resort and Spa which has been built into the once restricted wildlife jungle on Seraph. We’re making Seraph more modern one resort at a time. I encourage you all to review our possessions as this is the best preview of things to come.

Now, what this brings up is something I’ve honestly never thought about regarding Kamjin (which is a personal struggle because even I don’t know how to relax. I tend to work even when on vacations).

I’d have to say that Kamjin would find flying, or any sort of mechanized travel, as his relaxation. I believe I wrote something along these lines when I created Kamjin’s estate on Ragnath regarding, basically, jet skis.

Clan Scholae Palatinae Competitions

Spotlight Competitions

And, if you’re new here, all competitions can be found at the competition portal under the Main dropdown on the site.

I am looking forward to participating in Sithmas this year and having a fun distraction from the usual year-end craziness. I do want to highlight a few key themes we will be addressing in 2023.

  1. The Move to Seraph - Thran and I have positioned where our new capital city will be and we’re in the design phase for the new layout and fortress. We’re going big as the Empire is now firmly in charge.
  2. New Villains - You’ll find the Hutt That Stole Sithmas is the kicking off point for some new villains that will be harassing Scholae Palatinae as we seek to rebuild. Naturally new industry, cities, and destruction following a massive war introduces opportunities for the criminal elements of society to exploit.
  3. Feuds - Following the success of The Great Ewok Hunt in 2022 I’m committed to bringing a formal feud to the clan in 2023. There’s been discussions about how to elevate feuds to make them more approachable and I’m excited to brainstorm with the Council and my fellow Consuls on bringing one to the table in 2023.

There will, of course, be much more as we continue to see what 2023 brings us. Nothing is set in stone but the primary goal in 2023 is to focus on building the lore and stage for Scholae Palatinae to play with for years to come!

Until next time, stay Sithy my friends!

Congrats to everyone that earned shinies! Fantastic report and I can’t wait to see what happens in 2023 for CSP!

Don't mind me.

But yes, I'm exciting to see clans continue to innovate when it comes to running events with other units. Scholae is in good hands here.
