Introduction

I really need to learn to stop letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. I kept putting off this report until I had some first steps to share about the Knowledge Center project referenced in my introduction report but various staff changes and real life beating me up has delayed that. Meanwhile, the Shadow Academy has not been idle and the change log is getting pretty long so time for an update and some housekeeping.

Still Hiring

Did you know we are still hiring? Praetor to the Headmaster and Wiki Tribune are open until Feburary 13th. See my earlier posting for details. Don’t be intimidated by the technical side of things, we can teach you that. If you want to help or have some ideas then apply! We need you!

Professor of Writing

In case you missed it Zentru’la stepped down from Praetor to the Voice and Professor of Writing. Zen served the Shadow Academy and the club with distinction, providing rigorous and informative courses that helped members improve their writing, including providing invaluable writing feedback on the Test of Wisdom.

Zen obviously left some big shoes to fill and I’m going to wait until P:HM and P:Voice are settled before I try to work out what the future of the writing department looks like. We’re not formally hiring right now but if helping members improve their writing is something you’d be interested in, reach out to me or Wolfe.

A New Course - Git Primer

Orv has returned with a vengeance, lending his tremendous talent in coding, art and his singular wit to the club while he can. He surprised us with a course on Git complete with some amazing artwork that’s worth taking a look at.

If you’re coding curious or just want to learn something new (and get some XP and credits while you’re at it) check out the Git Primer course.

Scrolls of Foundation Update

Scrolls of Foundation were historically awarded for service to the Shadow Academy either through grading courses or submitting course errors through the SA Feedback Form. SoFs will continued to be awarded for course grading and submitting course errors.

However, after some discussion in the council, the MAA office has updated the Scroll of Foundation to be awardable by any member of the Council for submitting errors in their area. This will allow members to be consistently recognized for their contributions to improving the club’s content and documentation.
