A quick update for two important announcements: Discord and open applications!

New Discord Course

With the official move to Discord today, we have retired Comms 102: Telegram and replaced it with Comms 102: Discord!

This was a massive undertaking spearheaded by our esteemed Magistrate, Savant Aru Law, a veteran Discord user who worked with me (a Discord newbie), to put together a course that we hope will be beneficial to both types of users. We tried to pay attention to the questions you were having during the trial period to ensure the course would be helpful to others who make the transition, and we also received some help from Wally who was already documenting the authentication process and graciously shared that info and screenshots with us – so a big thanks to him, as well!

Please feel free to let us know if there’s something you think we could add to the course. Use our feedback form to help us stay organized. :)

Other Course Updates

In addition to the new Discord course, I’ve updated Competitions 102: Gaming to reflect the new process with matchmaking and parties using dbb0t on Discord.

There will obviously be a few more courses to comb through that may still mention Telegram, but I’ll try to get to those as quickly as possible!

Magistrate Applications Open

The second, bittersweet news … Appius is stepping down as Magistrate (you may have heard he just got a new gig!), and now we need someone to fill his shoes. This Magistrate position is focused on keeping up the Star Wars lore hype for the Shadow Academy – hence why you all know Appius for his SA trivia hype train!

I’m opening applications today via our handy-dandy form and will close them on October 15th.

We have some exciting things planned for this last quarter, so it should be a fun time to join us. Please don’t hesitate to apply and/or reach out to me on Discord with any questions about the position.
