Hoth Quaestor - Introduction

Greetings, House Hoth, and welcome to my first report as your new Quaestor.

Who Is This Guy?

I'm reasonably well-known here as a former BTL, AED, PCON and RM, so I won't go too far into introductions; I am one of the founding members of this Clan, and have been working behind the scenes to try and better our House and Clan where I can. I have a host of former names and characters that some may know me by, most notably Elleron, Denath and D'hak; a long career in Clan Arcona covering virtually every position in that Clan; and, a small career in Clan Plagueis. I've been around on some level for most of the past 16 1/2 years and generally stick to my little old man cave.

Around the club, my most recent project was helping bring the new Character Sheet 2.0 system to life. Currently I am working on some more features for the ACC that I am aiming at delivering in the next 2-4 weeks, though the upcoming Vendetta will delay the final launch.

Recently, Stephen Garrett (Seraphol Ceartas) and I have swapped positions, elevating him to my former post as Rollmaster, and placing me in control of House Hoth.

Why the Change?

A conversation started between Turel and myself shortly after he was appointed Proconsul. I was very unhappy with most of my duties as Rollmaster and felt that a lot of what I was doing was a complete waste of my time - I was an admin / support / advisor that no one was making use of. My main focus was on maintaining our mailing list, welcoming and assigning newcomers and handling the awards system I came up with as Aedile.

Turel came back to me with an idea in his head to revitalize the Rollmaster position with different duties, and since I knew I couldn't handle those duties as well as the candidate he had in mind, I gladly agreed to step aside and become the second Quaestor of Hoth.

Clan Awards

One of my primary responsibilities as Rollmaster was to track and monitor activity and awards, in line with a couple of policies. I largely consider this a success; since I launched the system I've been using, the vast majority of the 70-odd awards I've written have gone through the Master at Arms office on the first pass.

There is, however, a critical problem with the system I designed: as more work is being done both in between major Clan events, and without my involvement, it is not feasible to leave things in one person's hands any longer. Rest assured, we have already started moving towards a new way of handling awards, with the majority of Hoth awards handled before Force Ascendant, and the majority of Satele awards being handled in its aftermath. I started a conversation with the Summit in September to design a new system and will be continuing this discussion once the others have caught up on their parts of the grading of Order of the Force Ascendant.

At this stage, there is one major award I am writing up, a rejected award that I am taking over, and a discussion that Revak has forwarded to me, all of which I will be tackling over the weekend.

What The Future Holds

My main motivation here is to return to what I do best: content creation. To this end, there are some things that I want to draw attention to.

The Butcher of Kamuekiko

Revak is hard at work preparing the final chapter of the Butcher series, and I look forward to working with him to ensure this event has the ending it deserves.

House Battleteams

I want a greater focus on battleteam stories and events. The battleteams are the front-runners of activity in a House, and I want ours to excel in this regard. I will be working closely with their leaders to try and ensure that the battleteams get what I feel is the correct balance in the spotlight. This isn't just for the Knights either; if you have a story concept for a battleteam, and a few active people to back it up, talk to me and we can look at opening another team. Our numbers are a little short at the moment, but activity fosters growth.

Future Storylines

Following Butcher, I will be guiding our House's fictional focus in different directions. As some may know, I do have my own personal storyline progressing in Sins of the Father, and I will be continuing with this and expanding it to encompass the entire House and eventually, the entire Clan. Other storylines will run parallel to Sins, in a similar manner to my launch of the Disciples of Baas, with concurrent "event hubs" as part of separate "story chains".

Part of this focus will be on our current battleteam, the Knights of Allusis, to further help them in capitalizing on their position as the peak of our House. Another part of this will be focused on getting us off New Tython; we've got some decent ships, we should make use of them. There will also be events focused here on New Tython, most likely in support of the over-arching Clan fiction.

Regarding Clan fiction, I will be having a conversation with the powers that be to map out the future on that front, so I can decide how to properly prepare and commit our forces, if I decide to support it.

Additionally, there will be an opportunity coming up some time in the next month or two (either before or after Butcher), for someone to work closely with me towards some of our House goals. Revak and I will be releasing details when we are ready.

This rounds out my initial address. Stay tuned for further details on Butcher as they are finalized. While Quaestor reports are due on the 20th, I reserve the right to alter this as I see fit.
