I hope everyone’s had a great holiday season and enjoyed some of the festivities. Without further ado, now onto the report, featuring a Fiction from our very own Aedile.
A dusting of white covered Kaal. It was a soft blanket, pure and untouched where normally there would be muddy tracks marring its surface as people made their way from place to place taking part in the many festivities.
But there were no sounds of cheer. No giggles from children hurdling snowballs at one another. Just the silent echoes of a shellshocked city.
No one was celebrating today, not anymore.
Nildea looked over the city from one of the windows of her and Syrena’s shared office, the dark sleepless circles around her eyes more stark than they normally were. No, no one was celebrating in Kaal today in light of the news that the Praxeum was infiltrated and their High Councilor was killed. Everyone had retreated to their home, to mourn or to hide, or a mixture of both.
Nildea didn’t flinch at the opening of the door to the office, or the stompy footsteps that made their way to the plush couch lining one wall. Her Quaestor unceremoniously dumped herself onto the couch, her raspberry-colored hair sprawling the length. The pair sat in silence for a moment as Syrena stared at the ceiling, a deep frown on her face.
“How’d we get to this?” Syrena mumbled softly, as if the heavens would hold the answer to her question.
Nildea’s grief had already begun to turn into something sharper, more vicious. It hadn’t been long since the news broke, both to them via Mihoshi, and publicly– but Nildea had begun to dip into the dark. Her gold-claw-tipped fingers tightened on the glass of whiskey she was holding, her eyes narrowed at the snow outside.
“Little people with their little egos, unable to handle change, is how we got here. Masahiro wasn’t perfect, but he was trying. More than most.”*
Meanwhile, in the underbelly of the city where shadows stretched, restless eyes shone in the dark. Revolutionists gathered with one other in an abandoned factory, forming their preparations for the months to come.
“Masashiro tried to keep the balance… but with him gone, who now shall try to protect us? Certainly not the Vatali, whose starships remain full of resources while ours fall apart. Who live in their lavish penthouses while we rot at the bottom. Something must be done, once and for all,” a female’s voice rose above the rest, followed by whispers of agreement.
Sparks flashed to life, as machines slowly creaked into motion, beginning to piece together weapons for the group.

This may not be my most lengthy report, but I wanted to make sure to get one out before the end of December nonetheless, in our last few hours for the year of 2025. I have truly learned so much this year alongside all of you in House Hoth, and getting to know your characters. With that said, may 2026 be a prosperous one for all of you, and happy New Years Eve!
