Introduction

First I'd like to apologize for the lateness of my report. RL has been rather taxing of late and I'm sorry it's affected you all. Now that we have that out of the way, let's get down to business. On my last report, we'd just started The Enemy Below, our Odds vs. Evens clan-wide event. On top of my usual news and insight this month, I'm proud to share with you all House Karness Muur’s many spoils of our bash with the bugs. The featured fiction from the event’s conclusion stars yours truly and therefore it is suggested (possibly even ordered) that you read it and any of the other TEB fiction updates here.

News and Events

  • Howie has laid down some words of panda-y wisdom in his most recent report which can be found here. In addition, the new teaser trailer for The Last Jedi has hit the media and if by some insane chance you haven’t seen it yet, the plush panda posted it here.

  • The new Praetor to the Headmaster was just announced here and it’s none other than our very own Laren Uscot. Congraulations!

  • Fresh, hot info on the new NPC Character Sheet slots gracing our dossiers can be found in the Voice’s new update which can be found here.

Quaestor’s Words

Last month's iteration of Quaestor’s Words was focused on certain key details of the nature of DB events. Now that we've finished The Enemy Below and with rumors of a Great Jedi War on the horizon, I feel the need to reflect on last month's insight with our experiences during the last event and our expectations of a GJW in mind.

The participation numbers we saw in The Enemy Below were excellent for a clan-wide event and as was stated in Slagar's report, our numbers were greater than other events going on in the club. I'm glad that we were able to pull together good activity on a clan level but can we do even better to break even with a Great Jedi War or a Vendetta? We did well in The Enemy Below but the real test of a clan’s measure is in consistency over multiple events. 409 entries for TEB was amazing. Had we seen such levels for both Aftermath and the Plagueis Winter Trials, I'd not feel much of a need to talk about participation in events. That being said though, we didn't so I have to repeat it. Participation is key to victory. Novae can be difficult to obtain and usually require a skill level that outperforms the entire club. Participation requires nothing more than trying. Any member can do it and that's all we can ask of you. I don't want our great effort this past month to be thought of as little more than a fluke. We got an A on this last quiz so let's make sure that when the time comes for the clans to battle it out, we're ready to show them that Clan Plagueis is determined to out-participate them all.

Another point worth covering is the nature of the competitions themselves. Although the Dark Jedi Brotherhood continually endeavors to continually change itself for the betterment of the members, I don't think it's likely that the difficulty of GJW comps will drastically change any time soon. In the events we've experienced lately, the comps have been fairly easy to participate in. Flash gaming, puzzles, and trivia are examples of our high-participation activities during our events. Although there will likely still be a few of these during a club-wide event, you can also bet that the week will involve many more time-consuming ones as well. Just as well your number of competitors is practically septupled so you can expect a lot of resistance in earning those precious Novae. My only real key advice is to pace yourself and prioritize. You want to make sure that your effort and your desire to win don't get in the way of your participation numbers so you should prioritize comps that are quicker and that you don't intend to try and win. These should get minimal effort and simply completed as fast as possible. Then work more steadily on the ones you wish to thoroughly try at. This method ensures that even if you pour too much focus into one event, that you won't only get one Seal. Remember, an entry (ANY entry) can be completed easily if you find an easy way. Graphics can be stick figures, fictions can be akin to ramblings, and it only takes a third of a cluster to enter a Cluster Race. It's only guaranteed yup be hard to keep up with the entries if you make it hard. You can do all the things.

That's enough of my rambling. This month's Quaestor’s Words has the first of my new, special report segment that's exclusive to the month after an event. I give you my list of this event's participation MVPs.

The Enemy Below 24/24 MVPs
Kul’tak Drol
Pollus Paratus
Taranae Rhode
Silent
Tra’an Reith

In Conclusion

I’m really proud of all the hard work Clan Plagueis put out during The Enemy Below (a shout-out to everyone who earned their Furios points). I found the event fun and engaging and I hope you all did so as well. I particularly enjoyed the competitive atmosphere you all (HAP too) created. If our zeal shows just as much in every event, I’ll die a happy Quaestor. In the meantime, everyone relax and stay active. The Run On is about to get spicier. Some interesting comps are running and more are on the way. Update your wiki pages and take some SA courses. Practice your skills for the next event. I’ll be watching.

See you next month!
