A Message from the Quaestor

Hallo my lektastic Qel-Dromites!

I hope you had wonderful holidays and a spectacular New Year’s celebration! I hear we’re in a new decade now! As eyes turn from the old to the new, we were also treated to the final episode of the Star Wars story. If you haven’t seen it yet, and wish to avoid spoilers, you still have until the 20th of January.

For my part, I enjoyed my holidays in some select company, watching the decade end with a lovely hot beverage in hand whilst observing good money burning in the skyline. Good times, as it was not mine.

Out of various holiday goodies, I believe the best one was a food processor attachment to my stand mixer. It’s already grated more carrots than I’ve ever bothered to with a box grater, so that’s a plus! Tali may have also received an HVAC droid for Lifeday, which would be great if she still lived in her old apartment where the AC kept leaking into her bed. However, I am sure having a traveling companion that does nothing but blow hot air cannot be anything but beneficial. Just ask Geralt!

A Message from the Aedile

A new decade is up on us! Greetings and welcome to the year 2020! I hope you’ve all survived the family meetings, drinks and parties. I think all the new Star Wars media will do our lovely club good and there’s much more to look forward to! I hope you’ve enjoyed all the new stuff and if you haven’t gotten to it yet, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have. Don’t forget to set your DB clock to 38 ABY, because our characters move on a year as well! We’ve got a lot of things planned for the very near but also further future of our House so get ready for more to come. Personally this holiday was extra fabulous as my wife finally finished her PhD, giving me more time to draw and write. You’re all stuck here with me even more now, yay! Our kid received a plethora of toys and we managed to evade all the other stressful family stuff this year around. Regarding my character Alaisy, well she’s celebrating her first DBirthday on the 8th of January, but I went ahead and updated her CS to reflect that she’s 2.11 meters tall now, overshadowing any New Year Resolutions she had before and alarming her to do something about that growth in height. Nothing like starting a year with doom and gloom, thankfully no serious handicaps yet, but we’ll have to see what she does about it.

House Fiction Update

House Qel-Droma Headquarters

38 ABY

Sounds of hydrotools, vibrosaws and the infernal clanking of hammers echoed in the hallways around the gathered Qel-Dromans, flecks of dust and chips of stone falling from the rough ceiling as construction teams continued setting up their new base. Tali stood beside a hologram of the Shadowport, trying to time her briefing to when the sounds of drilling abated.

“Alright, ve’ve almost clearedt out the Dawn Conclave from our home, but they still holdt a few strongpoints. The oldt service dockyardt at the very bottom of Ol’val, a part of the housing district, andt a portion of the mining tunnels are still no-go for our allies. Once ve retake those, Ol’val vill be secure once more.”

For the better part of a year, they’d been fighting back against the insurgency orchestrated by the elusive Dawn Conclave, a rival criminal syndicate that had launched a devastating assault on their home and almost succeeded in routing them. But now, the tides of war had turned and with the new starfighters of Aurabesh Prime and Butcher squadrons to assist them, and the resources gained from the Voidbreaker’s increased pirate activities, they had their enemy on the ropes. All that remained was the knock-out punch.

“So, what plan do you propose to finish them?” Karran Val’teo, Battleteam Voidbreaker’s newly-minted leader inquired. “Taking out that small remnant shouldn’t prove a problem.”

“They may be small, but all the more vicious for it,” Leeadra Halcyon stated pensively.

“I, uh, agree. Cornered beasts can be desperate,” Eilen Jarth added in support of her girlfriend.

“Then we’d best not tell them they’re being cornered,” Alaisy Tir’eivra stated with a hint of modulated sadism, her face obscured by the mirror sheen of her helmet.

Looks like December has been a bit more lively with Alaisy still in first place with 28 points but with our Eilen tailing her with an impressive 20 points! Tied at third place are Lee and Sera with 7 points! We’re expecting January to pick up on the activity a little bit so grab those crescents when you get the chance!

    • Tali: “She can come to visit, as long as she promises to vear a special suit dousedt in gasoline. Ve findt it deters people from being too flame-happy.”
    • Alaisy: “She might still have some use when we need to hollow out the asteroid further.”
  • What are you and your characters New Years Resolutions?
    • Tali: IC: Don’t lose another baby. OOC: Get every one of you lektastic members mentioned in the House Wiki for your outstanding heroism in the line of duty! (Or just some random shenanigans that happened to serve our grander narrative.)
    • Alaisy: RL goals: Get the House up to date and generate activity. Improve my consistency and get some structure when it comes to drawing. Hoping to also gain some brainspace and confidence this year to carry out a decent amount of writing in the DB. Alaisy’s goals: Make sure that her height doesn’t become a problem, delve deeper into the world of Sith Alchemy and she is working hard to tie up loose ends with her family.
  • What is one thing you’d like to make our Clan base more knowledgeable about?
    • Tali: “The various health-benefits of well-warmed lekku. Buy my goddamn lekwarmers!”
    • Alaisy: “I think they know too much already, bring the Neuralyzers!”

  • Are there any New Years celebrations planned for the House? Y’know, casual piracy maybe, or a massive, House-wide instance of drunken debauchery?
    • Tali: “I’m sure even if ve didn’t have one plannedt, you’dt somehow manage anyway...”
    • Alaisy: “We have some things planned, you’ll see.”

  • I assume Void will mostly be ship based. Will there be a dock/hideout for them ground side on Ol'val?
    • Tali: “Funny you should ask...”
    • Alaisy: slow smile

    • Tali: “Even funnier...”
    • Alaisy: “Indubitably.”

So begins our journey into 38 ABY!

With our leadership now in order, we’ve already set plans into motion and hope to bring you all along for a wild ride as House Qel-Droma rises from the ashes of Ol’val to reclaim its post as number 1 shadowy House of Arcona (as if there was ever any doubt!). We look forward to another great year of activities, Vendettas, and all manner of hijinks in a galaxy far far away!
