A Message from the Shadow Lady

Hello, darlings!

It has been an interesting few weeks here in Arcona. But, now that the dust has settled, I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and to let ya’ll know of a few open positions we have here in beautiful, sunny Arcona.

Let me make this simple: everything you've heard about me is true.

Okay, maybe not everything, but you get the idea. In the DB, I play a treacherous, sociopathic, Machiavellian redhead with a penchant for the finer things in life and Chiss. Outside of the DB, I am none of those things. Okay, maybe one of those things, and I’ll let you guess which one. IRL, I am a nurse with arguably the best work schedule in the world. I enjoy writing, reading, long walks on the beach (because I live near the beach) and playing entirely too much Minecraft.

But I’ll not bore you with too many personal details. In the next few weeks, Rhylance and I will be putting out a full report, which will contain more detail about all of our nefarious plans and goals for Arcona. In the meantime, as I am sure you read in the pithy title, we have job openings!

Applications Open for Aedile of House Qel-Droma

With my moving up to the fancy chair, and Tali moving up to Quaestor, there is now an opening for Aedile of House Qel-Droma! Do you think you have what it takes to help lead our lovely band of brigands, thieves and ne’er-do-wells? We are holding applications club-wide, so here’s your chance to find out!

The Aedile is expected to work closely with the Quaestor in order to plan House specific events and shape the fictional direction of the House. Working with the Quaestor, the Aedile will:

• Track activity within the House
• Help maintain steady activity among the membership
• Assist in coming up with comps and other fun things to help keep people engaged.
• Communicate personally with members of the House
• Fetch the Quaestor’s caf

Applications Open for Battleteam Leader of Voidbreaker

But wait, there’s more! There’s also an opening for Battleteam Leader! Our lovely Emere Galo has served with distinction, but a busy RL has forced her to step down. She leaves some big shoes to fill! If you feel like you are up to the task, then feel free to apply!

Given that the BTL position is considered an intro-level leadership position, the expectations are slightly less rigorous. They will work closely with the House Summit in order to devise the fictional direction of Voidbreaker. Responsibilities include:

• Assist the House Summit in tracking activity
• Communicate personally with the members of the Battleteam
• Assist in running comps and other activities to help keep members engaged.
• Help maintain steady activity
• Fetch caf for the Quaestor and Aedile.

What We’re Looking For:

• Someone who is reasonably active on Telegram, with a 24 hour turnaround time for all TG messages and emails.
• A willingness to lead by example by organizing/participating in at least 5 competitions per month.
• A willingness to work as part of a team.
• Previous leadership experience is a plus, but not a requirement.

• A brief intro about yourself
• Examples of leadership (either IRL or in the DB) and what you have learned from them
• Any ideas you might have regarding the fictional direction of the unit in question
• Any long term projects you would like to tackle

Please also include which position you are applying for, or indicate that you are applying for either.

The deadline for applications is November 20, 2019, though we reserve the right to close applications early if we find the perfect candidates, so if we picked your interest, don’t dally!

During #AskRedAndLek, there were a number of questions that asked specifically about Consul related stuff. So, I decided to snag them, and answer them here. You’re welcome!

  • How's the chair? Get it cleaned yet?
    • Me: “Yes. Thoroughly with a nice cleansing fire. And yet despite that, I am still finding Ryn hairs on my dress.”

• Alaisy asks:

  • The throne and Red will create a nice contrast, or is there something you're still going to change about it?
    • Me: “I am strongly considering a nice cushion to help protect from any stray Ryyn hairs that might have escaped the cleaning, but otherwise I think the throne room is perfect the way it is. With all that fire, it reminds me a bit of Ol’val!”

• Eilen asks:

  • This change of seats is an exciting event! You think we could have Lucine host a cook-out or something to celebrate?
    • Me: Oh, don’t worry! I’ve got a few comp ideas that I’ll be working on shortly! One might even involve a cookout!

• The Newly Returned Log asks a bunch!

  • How long before Arcona falls to depravity and slavery under Lucine's rule?
    • Me: “Slavery? Never. It is not an economically sustainable business model. As to depravity? Well, this is Arcona, after all.”
  • What are your general aspirations as Consul?
    • Me: My general aspirations include helping to develop a strong pool of future leaders, helping to develop awesome Arconan storylines that engages our people, and just generally encouraging ways people to be active and happy within Arcona.
  • Are you prepared to share your tax.... Application for Consul?
    • Me: Sorry, but ongoing audits by the DC prevent me from sharing my Applications for Consul. Just kidding. I’ll share it with anyone who wants to read it.
  • What is the current working relationship between Lucine and her Summit?
    • Me: There are some people that I have worked more closely with in the past. However, I hope to develop great working relationships with all members of the Summit!
  • Who are your Summits?
    • Me: Have you been away so long that you have forgotten how to use the Roster Page?
  • How long does Lucine expect to survive the brutal tide that is being Arcona Consul?
    • Me: If Lucine has her way, she would rule for as long as necessary.
  • Do you miss stealing peoples organs?
    • Me: I have never stolen an organ, they were always legally given to me. But yeah, sometimes I do miss the job. Except for the utter lack of social life. Or having to stay up for 3-4 days at a time.
  • When are you going to run an ongoing game of L5R for your members set in the Star Wars universe?
    • Me: Well, now that you have me thinking about it, maybe soon!
  • Are you tired of these questions yet?
    • Me: Bring ‘em on, baby!
  • Who's a better character Leon Kennedy (AKA I'm American from Resident Evil 4) or Tidus (HA-HA-HA - HA HA HA) from Final Fantasy X?
    • Me: Better as in a more fleshed out character? Probably Leon, simply because there has been more opportunity to develop his character. Better as in who is cuter? I plead the fifth.
  • What Star Wars content do you intend to use in future Clan storylines?
    • Me: All of it. Well, except for porgs. No porgs.
