Plagueis Rollmaster Report #1: A Changing of the Guard

Message from the Overseer

Hey there Clan Plagueis! Welcome to my first report as Clan Rollmaster. I’m extremely excited to step into this position. I’d like to thank Teylas and Slags for giving me another opportunity to give back to the members of Clan Plagueis, and I hope I’m up to the challenge.

I’d like to congratulate Kelly on a job well done during her stint as Overseer. Her efforts on bringing our new members (and some of our older members) into the fold helped to make Clan Plagueis the active (and 61 member strong) group it is now. Kelly consistently watched IRC for members who weren’t on Telegram, and brought them over to us so they could join in the discussions of fiction, evil, and of course, COWBELL. She also kept an eagle-eye on promotions, ensuring all individuals who met the prerequisites were promoted on time. Enjoy being back in the trenches, Kelly.

In other news, Kalon has taken over as Quaestor of House Ajunta Pall, assuming the mantle of Left Wing of Dread. Kalon is an exceptional leader and is the perfect choice to lead House Ajunta Pall to victory. Congrats, Kalon!

With Kalon leaving, Laren Uscot has stepped into the position of Aedile of House Karness Muur. Laren submitted an absolutely incredible BTL application, and showed that he is already prepared to lead at the House level. Additionally, he has shown that is absolutely possible for a non Force user to serve in a summit position within Clan Plagueis. So for all of you mercenaries and loyalists out there, remember that there is always a place for you to showcase your abilities, even in the Clan of Darkness!

Finally, after a few weeks of searching, The Disciples of Dreypa have a BTL again. Congrats to Malice on her selection to serve as Battle Team leader!

The team is set for the time being, so let’s get to it!

Welcome to Plagueis!

Over the past month, we’ve seen a pretty good increase in our numbers. Our members are what make this club great, and whether new or old, all are welcome in Clan Plagueis! Here’s a list of those who joined (or rejoined) our ranks over the past 30 days:

New Members:

Theron Gar was recruited by Brimstone and recently completed his Trial of Identity and joined the Apostles of Syn in House Karness Muur.

Maar Shalin, Apostles of Syn in House Karness Muur

Tatticus, Apostles of Syn in House Karness Muur

Abadeer, Apostles of Syn in House Karness Muur

Coban Azapath, Disciples of Dreypa in House Ajunta Pall

Kronton, Disciples of Dreypa in House Ajunta Pall

Returning Members:

Kryy Vitaan returned a few weeks ago, and has been an absolute powerhouse in the Shadow Academy and in competitions. He recently earned the mantle of Knight, as well as a shiny new lightsaber. Welcome back, and congrats!

From The BTL Desks

One of the unique things about Clan Plagueis is how we utilize our Battle Teams. The Battle Teams serve as an extension of the Rollmaster office, with the primary goal of guiding their members to the rank of Knight. Additionally, they assist their House Summits with tracking activity, recommending awards and promotions, and leading Battleteam and House level competitions. I am fortunate to have two outstanding members serving as Battle Team leaders, with Ra’gnar holding down the fort over in the Apostles of Syn, and Malice taking on the responsibility for the Disciples of Dreypa. This portion of the report allows them to highlight their respective teams, and to recognize any of their outstanding members!

Apostles of Syn

Greetings BTM of AoS,

This month was another active month with plenty of Promotions, Ranks gained in the different Societies and plenty of SA activity squeezed in the middle. This month we have seen the departure of 2 BTM's due to being promoted to Knight, so congratulations to Gad & Kryy on their Knighthood. And we lost Laren due to being appointed to HKM Aedile, so when you see these 3 individuals on Telegram congratulate them, it's well deserved. With that said, we also welcomed in 3 new BTM's this month as well, Tatticus, Abadeer & Theron.

Just a quick reminder, we are in the first phase of the feud with COU, so get out there and "DO THE THINGS", lets not let those wretched Jedi think they have a chance to win, because we all know the Dark Side Rules all.

Disciples of Dreypa

Though a few of you know me already, let me introduce myself for those of you that don't! I'm Malice! I turn 21 on the 31st of March and enjoy a great many things. Star wars goes without saying, but I also enjoy Harry potter, pokemon, doctor who, LotR, a few different anime/mangas, growing plants, trees, and thunderstorms. I can usually be found chilling at home, on tumblr, youtube, the brotherhood website, and making sure Kalon doesn't go overboard with his cowbell. Never be afraid to strike up a conversation with me! I love getting to know people, and I promise I don't bite!

Because I've held this position for a whopping two days, I don't have any information on any achievements or promotions before then, but just to make sure I'm being a supportive BTL, good job on that thing you did anyway! I'm very much looking forward to working with everyone and building up our activity and participation! Be on the lookout for some emails from me a little later today! If any of you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me! You can email me or find me on telegram and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

Uncle Drac’s Promotion Tips

Working Your Way to JM4

First and foremost, check out the promotion guidelines on the wiki. There is a very clear-cut path from your first day in the DB all the way to JM4.

First, the Shadow Academy is your friend. Taking exams nets you promotion credit in multiple ways: credit for exams passed, credit for degrees attained, and credit for ranking up in the Shadow Academy Society. This is one of the absolute best ways to help meet those rank requirements, not to mention the potential leg-up you’ll have in a trivia competition!

Second, and I know many of you will be surprised to hear me say this, but play some Pazaak. Pazaak is free, works on all computers (I own a mac, and have no trouble playing it), and nets you Clusters of Fire. Remember to follow the rules set forth in the RoC, and go earn some clusters!

Third, take part in some competitions. Plenty of competitions are available for you to showcase your writing skills, and every competition you PARTICIPATE in nets you promotion credit. If you place, that’s another way to earn promotion credit!

Finally, for those of you who are writers, check out the ACC. You’ll have to take the qualification exam (see how that Shadow Academy keeps working for you?), and after that you’re ready to compete in writing battles! Writing nets Clusters of Ice (1 cluster per 500 words of fiction)!

Making the Jump to the Equites

It goes without saying that many members of the club stagnate at JM4. I can’t stress this enough: once you reach Knighthood (or the associated version of JM4 for you non-force user types), you need to stay active! Doing “stuff” and “things” is not going to be enough anymore. Equites are expected to become producers for the club instead of consumers of activity. Get involved with your House or with the Clan Summit. Organize some competitions. Work on a project that benefits the Clan or the DJB at large.

At the end of the day, what you do (or don’t do) matters.

Ask The Overseer

My favorite part of the report! Each month I’ll put out a call for questions on telegram. Ask a question in Plagueis chat, and I’ll do my best to answer it! Anything goes, as long as it’s not disparaging against another member or ultra-creepy.

Eiko asks:

Q: How’re you settling in to your new position? Did you bring anything over? Smooth jazz records? IKEA furniture?

A: Lots of mahogany and leather-bound books. And a few decanters of scotch.

alt_text

Silent asks:

Q: In your new office did Kelly forget to pack anything? Maybe something she didn’t want anyone to know about?

A: Considering how evil and dark she claims to be, I found it weird that the walls were plastered with these things...just sayin’.

alt_text

Kelly asks:

Q: Are you outlawing whipping journeymen? I found it to be a rather effective means of motivation.

A: I’d prefer you didn’t. I’m not against you doing this, though:

alt_text

Teylas Ramar di Plagia asks:

Q: What is your favorite mineral?

A: Salt. Especially when it is poured over an enemy’s open wounds. Oh...not to leave you out:

alt_text

Kz’set di Plagia asks

Q: Which journeyman is going to get the “honor” of polishing my carapace?

A: You don’t get any new journeymen until you finish playing with the one you already have.

Malice asks

Q: Can we find a way to limit the amount of cowbell Kalon can have?

A: I am firmly a member of the “more cowbell” camp.

alt_text

Kryy asks:

Q: Are Dark Crosses still a thing?

A: Yep.

*Tra’an Reith di Plagia asks:

Q1: What plans do you have to develop member retention and promotion?

A1: Member outreach is CRITICAL. This club is only as good as its member base. While the BTLs are directly responsible for reaching out to their team members, it is incumbent on the QUAs and AEDs of the Houses to be just as proactive in reaching out to their entire group. Leaders in the club need to provide activities for their teams, and need to listen to honest feedback from the members under their charge. I think that the things that Slags and Teylas are doing with these joint events and pushing Telegram are a huge step in the right direction. This is a two way street, though. Leaders can provide activity and reach out to their teams all they want, but we still need our members to be active. So for all you guys and gals out there who are sitting in the shadows holding down a spot on the roster, come be part of the group! Join us on Telegram!

Q2: Are there things older members stuck in the Equite ranks can do to make themselves more promotable?

A2: See above. You can’t stagnate and just expect to be promoted. Doing two or three things a year isn’t enough either. Get active and stay active. Be a part of the team.

Q3: Why must you insist on excessive use of cowbell by Kalon?

A3: There is only one cure for my fever.

Conclusion

I am absolutely thrilled to be serving Clan Plagueis as Rollmaster. This group has been my home since I joined the DJB, and I can’t think of a better place for people to be part of the greater Star Wars Universe. Whether you are a brand new member fresh off the shuttle or one of our more senior members, I am here for you. Feel free to email me anytime, or hit me up on telegram.

More cowbell always needed. Thanks for the tips Uncle Drac!

Erm Drac? Don't the first round comps end on the 20th?

Those were there so people weren't totally afraid to come talk to me.

Thanks for catching that, Taranae. Fixed.

Thank you for the report, Drac. Well done~!
