Proconsul Report #2: Take to the Sky

Grim-faced and coated in mud the Mandalorian Councilor of War stood face-to-face with an unforeseen adversary, the High Councilor, Gui Sol himself. Answering the Arconan’s Call had put everyone in the midst of the false god Chicyiot’s curse and forced them to confront not only themselves but their closest allies as well, while the battlefield turned from worrisome to nightmarish as the song of the Caxqettes ever called to them. The false god himself, a cruel-faced Cathar, stood above them, a thin sneer pulled at his lips and mocked those who had come to end their reign.

Venn cursed beneath his breath and punched the headrest of the Councilor’s chair aboard the Resurgent. Casualty reports began to flood from the surface, numerical readouts of injuries and losses amongst the Third Battalion, First Infantry. Reports from the surface were sporadic, containing information of defections, mass casualties, instructions from the front, and the latest, a report that the forces pushed on Ehltaetl only to result in a mass friendly-fire incident, including apparently, a duel between the High Councilors in the worst possible moments. It was reminiscent of scant months prior, when Gui and Revak had come to blows over a Sith Relic and the High Councilor had lost limbs in the confrontation.

“Sir. The Peacekeeper has fixed batteries on us and popped torpedo hatches.”

The Mandalorian sighed and sat in the hot seat, it was not the Okami’s place to settle disputes for the Odanites, yet, here he was.

“Give me a line to the Peacekeeper and the rest of the Second Fleet. Do not return hostile measures.”

“This is Lieutenant Commander Venn Okami, Organizational Commander of the Second Fleet while the Councilor of War is away. The Reports have reached our vessel, as well as yours, and we have no intentions of aggression. Our mission is to provide our allies with support against a known ‘Ancient Sith’ threat, situations on the ground notwithstanding.” He barked to the screen before him, waiting for a response, any response.

“Acknowledged. Second Fleet will maintain ground support and await orders from FLEETCOM.”

As the screen went dark, a heavy sigh heaved from the Okami’s chest.

“Find out what is going on on the planet’s surface. If we can’t get in touch with any of the Unit Commanders, find me a Medical Commander on a Backline Operations Post. I need to know what we’re facing down there. NOW!”

Hope Rides Alone:

“They tried to stop this mechanical heart of mine.”

Gods, We Dine in Brimstone! the Multi-Clan event is underway, with Taldryan, Naga Sadow, and Odan-Urr responding to a direct request from Arcona for assistance in the fight against the another of the False Gods, Alla’su. These False Gods, Ancient Sith who ruled over the Selenians and have long bided their time, garnering power in the shadows of the planet. Once revered, they’ve now been cornered by a technologically superior opponent, and like any cornered rodent, they’ve struck out with everything they have to survive.

While some have enjoined with the Arconans to protect the people who revered them, others doubled down, alongside their monstrous caxqettes, beasts created of Sith Alchemy with the sole focus of “Eat, Breed, Kill” and armed with strong psionic abilities, the conflict has turned for the unexpected as the ‘god’ Chicyiot was roused from his slumber and joined Alla’su, unleashing wanton rage and turmoil across the theatre.

Big Iron:

“And he’s here to do some business with the big iron on his hip.”

As March carries on I am confident in saying this, Odanites, we’re here to do business again. In the first two weeks of the month, we completed 144 Competition Submissions between 24 submitting members, excluding the Scimitar of Lord Hoth entries. Odan-Urr has been a continuous font of competitions, both at the Clan and Brotherhood-wide levels, ranging from Puzzles, Haiku, the ever-present Gaming (wherein we spread Managed Democracy), and now a series of weekly Fiction Prompts to cater to the interests of nearly everyone. The only thing we’re missing is a good, continuous, art prompt series and we’ll have managed to touch down on all bases!

For your consideration, a rundown of current COU-Centric Competitions.

Clan-Level:

  • The March Cluster Race, a series of weekly cluster races, headed up by Odan-Urr’s Lieutenant General Ryuu Suoh.
  • Odanite Shipping Ventures, a puzzle series detailing the various ships fielded by the OUSC Naval Forces and allies.
  • The Ides of March, a series of Fiction prompts, with two prompts presented each week for your pleasure.

Member-Hosted:

  • Haiku: Examining the Code, a deep introspective series from High Councilor Gui Sol on the Jedi Code and what it is to know what it means to oneself.
  • A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words, a Fiction prompt from Creon de Neverse revolving around your characters, and an image prompt.
  • The Fur Awakens, what if animals had portrayed the many roles of Star Wars? A Puzzle Series from yours truly!
  • A Month of Helldivers, SPREAD MANAGED DEMOCRACY, BE EXEMPLARY, AND EARN REWARDS! From Ryuu Suoh
  • Probe Spot Report, a Graphics competition from Creon de Neverse, focused on what kind of data/imagery a probe would send back to your data pad.

Remenissions:

“Their echoes are reaching my ears.”

The hits just keep on coming, this last month has been full of some pretty exciting ups and downs, with some solid reports across the board, but for the sake of brevity, I’m only going to share the most recent postings.

Choice Millionaire:

"It's a wide, wide, world out there"

We're to that point again, where I'm unsure of what else to put in the report other than my continuing pride in seeing what you guys are putting forward. With half of our Clan actively taking part in competitions at any given time, and others socially active, it's good to come home from work every day and see the activity reports and emails from your activities. You're a testament to everything I hoped to bring when I first submitted my application for Odan-Urr Consul late last year, guess my application was so good they added Pro to it when Gui was selected. I'm still learning this as I go along, but you guys have kept me on my toes and made it pretty clear with each activity I've thrown at you just what you enjoy doing. In the days ahead, I hope we'll get more projects and competitions out, continue enjoying ourselves, and as always keep the laughs rolling. That's what this is all ultimately about. Having fun.

Ever Onwards, Odanites.
