Rollmaster Report #13 - War, What is it Good For?

WAR, What is it Good For? Everything!

So, for those who might have not noticed, there’s a rather big event that started a few days ago, Great Jedi War XII: Retribution. I’ve been talking about this event in my last few reports, but now it’s time to buckle down and get to work/fun. GJWs as we call them in the business are not just a chance for individual glory, but also very important to the clan. We’re ranked on how well we perform and a sizable chunk of that is based on the participation of our members. The old motto during GJWs used to be “Do All The Things” (tm- Howie and Panda Enterprises). But this time it’s a tad different. Owing to the fact that there’s more events than there were in the last war and they are quite a bit more diverse, the new motto is:

Do All the Bins

Imgur

So what exactly does this mean? You’ll notice on the Compeition Page , all the events are grouped into chunks of similar events (fiction, graphics, gaming, etc). They are also grouped into Phases (Phase 1 runs until 10/30) with some events running the length of the 5 week war. To Do All The Bins you simply need to do one event in each of the groups and each of the phases. Our ever benevolent Seneschal has even made it easy to determine which bins you have submitted to. Now, if you want to place individually, you’re probably going to have to at least attempt All the Things. But at the very least, please try to get all the Bins in. If you have any questions on this, feel free to ask your lovely neighborhood Summit Member for assistance. Or Wally, you can bug Wally if you really want.

“But Arden, some of these are team events?”

OK, first off, two laps around the Circle for the journeyman who asked that. However,we have thought of that. If you haven’t already signed up, we do have a Form to sign up for team events. Also, if I don’t put you on a team immediately, let me or one of the other clan summiters know and we’ll get you sorted out. The team events are what make the GJW special for me and I want everyone to have a chance to experience them.

Other War Tips, tricks, and info.

  • Wally has constructed some rather intriguing fiction background posts HERE and HERE

  • Mav dicsusses the Scoring System HERE. Yes it’s complicated, but to keep it fair, it really does need to be that way.

  • Our friendly neighborhood ceiling dwelling Justicar tells everyone to behave HERE. In short, if you think it might be wrong, it probably is and you shouldn’t do it.

  • So, my tips. First off, if it’s fiction, proofread it. Have someone else proofread it if necessary. We’re more than willing in the summit to check your grammar, but keep in mind we have our own work to be doing, so don’t come to us on the last day. We will be grumpy. Secondly, make sure to have fun. For some of you this is the first time you’ve had so much thrown at you in one event. It can be overwhelming, but only if you let it. Try and enjoy the events, some of them seem quite interesting. So go, do the things, get the shinies, and let’s kick some other clan hiney!

Moment of Zen

I’m going to leave you with a video of some of our favorite aquatic creatures going to war themselves. I present you, the Great Seal War!

Great advice Arden! I know I was overwhelmed when I first saw all of the competitions, but it's been a ton of fun so far!!

Fill those bins!

Yas! Everyone, please handle your bins-ness :P.
