The soaring of his soul

A report wherein Muz laments missing last month's report, talks about the clan feud, opens 'applications' for an assistant, and stares at the mountain of activity a new member has done.

Well, it hasn't happened often, but it does happen. I missed my monthly report last month, and for that I apologize. Between real life, work, and doing almost all of the entries int he clan feud, it slipped past me. I think i have missed a total of three or maybe four reports in my tenure (since having a position that had reports). Incoming old dude reminiscence: I remember when we used to do weekly reports instead of monthly. Every friday, like clockwork. Sometimes (much of the time), there wasn't much to actually report, so it made us go out and find something to do ourselves, just so we had something to type up. Filler? Sure, but at least it drove us to activity...maybe out of shame or something, but still. ;)

The clan feud against Scholae is over, and while we lost, there were a few people that put in a lot of effort to stop that from happening. Ultimately, I think where we missed the mark was in participation. If we could get more people out to do events, even if it just takes a few minutes of your time, we could have taken the feud. I know firsthand how time gets away from people, and some things get prioritized lower, but it really would have been cool for us to have something cool and shiny on our dossiers (there were some cool perks that Scholae got because they won.) If for some reason, you didn't participate for a reason other than time/timing, please make use of the cool survey that Ophelia and Tasha have put up and let your summit know. Of course, you can always tell me, and then I get to go kick in their office door and lay some harsh truths on them. It's really fun, although Locke is getting super tired of having to replace doors.

Ages ago, when the Night Hawks were called a phyle and not just a battleteam, there were sith squadrons. Sapphire was one of these, and there were a few others in House Ludo Kressh (back when houses were one order only). The unique thing about squadrons was that there were smaller units called flights. A squadron was 16 or so members, and each flight was 4 or 5, if i recall right (Malik will likely correct me). Each flight had its own leader, reporting to their Squadron Leader. I think the Obelisk had sergaents back then, but I am not sure, as it was almost ten years ago. At any rate, when the units migrated to the catchall term 'Battleteams' in the shiney new site (Thanks be to James, the mighty God of Code), the possibility of having a Battleteam Sergaent is still in there. I personally have never used one...until now.

This is going to be a training position. I will teach you how to do the basic tasks of leadership, train you on skills that will help you become a better leader in the club, and give you plenty of opportunity to push your career forward, if that is what you want to do. I am going to ask for applications, but they do not need to be overly formal, unless you really want to be.

Basic requirements include: desire to learn, ability to take direction, good attitude, and the telegram app so that you and I can be in contact often. If you meet at least those, shoot me an email (copy Tasha and Ophelia, if you would) and tell us why we should bring you in on that training position. I would like to have all applications in hand so that i can make a decision in a week, so have that email sent out to me before Midnight (EST) on the 23rd of August.

So here is where I brag about the cool things that people have done since the last report. Aside from the mountain of clusters we stacked up, Macron and I were on the winning runon in the Clan feud, I took second place overall due to my submission spamming prowess, and a new member by the name of Inyri Ginovef joined and laid a smackdown on the Shadow Academy, getting promoted to Neophyte in short order. She is also pretty close to another promotion, with just a few more tasks left for that, so big cheers for that. Keep going, Inyri, it gets better as you go.

I have done another 'Final extension' on the Heart of Coruscant, a runon that can be found here: https://discourse.darkjedibrotherhood.com/t/night-hawks-the-heart-of-coruscant/1246 for those of us who have recently been transfered into the Hawks. This will certainly be ending at the end of September, so if you want to get in on this (and earn some much needed Clusters of Ice for your promotions/society ranks), let me know, and we'll resurrect the email thread so that you can see how a real team operates (and wins) runon events. We do need some active posting to resurrect the thread, but the story (The Night Hawks are on Coruscant, hunting a Sith Lord from the One Sith) could be fun for your character. Again, let me know.

Again, DragonCon is coming, and while smartphones allow me to be online practically anytime I want, the copious partying and so forth make it all but necessary to go on LOA (Leave of absence) for that long weekend. If you are going to DragonCon (in Atlanta, Labor Day weekend), let me know, and we can catch up at the con. Could be great fun, despite the fact that my helmet did not end up with the lion's head like i wanted. Still cool, though. Pictures will be coming.

Otherwise, keep having fun out there, and let me know if I can help with anything.

Great post Muz,

Looking forward to a torrent of activity from new and old!

Woo, we can never go through enough doors here at Locke's office.

Squadrons, as well as Phyles and whatever the obbie battleteams were called all had up to a maximum of 12 members, but yes Sith squadrons were divided into three flights of four people, so a squadron would have the Commander (BTL), two Flight Leaders and nine flight members. As for Sergeants, that was just the name given to the leader of an obelisk battleteam, just like how the Krath were called Tetris... or was it Tetrarch?

You did say I would correct you so, there you go. It's like saying Biggie Smalls in front of the mirror three times. :P
