Trophy: I Said No Power Tools! & Test of Acquisition Changes

Noobis Regent

Hello there.GIF

I apologize for the summarization that this news post basically is. It's been a long couple nights at work outside (as I'm sure you can imagine), and I've got one more to go before the 8 hour drive home.

Trophy: I Said No Power Tools!

James has finished implementing the final piece of the framework that we need to debut the Crafting System. By now, all of the I Said No Power Tools! rank up emails should have gone out. I'll summarize the trophy and its purpose, but the actual deployment of craftable (lightsaber and member corvette) prototypes will occur sometime over the next week or so. I plan on reiterating pretty much this entire section at that time, with information on how to craft/disassemble items, where to view recipes, filtering recipies, etc.

Item crafting is enabled through the I Said No Power Tools! Trophy. The trophy has a total of thirty (30) ranks, with each rank represented at a set XP Threshold. You must reach the designated XP thresholds to be granted a specialized crafting material required for crafting any craftable item (at this time, but SO MUCH POTENTIAL) with the exception of the two options obtainable through choices in the Trial of Acquisition. That material is Carbon Nanofiber. Items that have been crafted are able to be “disassembled” using a disassemble recipe, returning the full crafting materials to your inventory (including Carbon Nanofiber)

CHART 2

In total, you'll be able to earn up to 102 Carbon Nanofiber to craft stuff with, and each item type has its own Carbon Nanofiber cost to it. It's a finite resource, and yes, while Member Corvettes are attainable not everyone is going to be able to craft one. You need to really work for it. Carbon Nanofiber is in possessions, but you won't find it (or any other crafting materials) in your main possessions tab. You can find your total current count of Carbon Nanofiber (which will obviously go down as you sacrifice it to craft items) and whatever other crafting materials you are granted/purchase in your Possessions, Loadouts & Snapshots admin option, in the Crafting tab (which is also where you will craft your items!)

Test of Acquisition

With the launch of the I Said No Power Tools! trophy comes some changes to the Test of Acquisition, which many of you have already taken. Some members ranked Journeyman 4 and above haven't (like James!). While most of the Test of Acquisition remains the same, the Knight's Lightsaber you were once just auto-granted is no longer auto-granted.

The first four ranks of I Said No Power Tools! each grant a part to the Knight’s Lightsaber and Captain’s DL-44 Blaster Pistol. At the rank of Journeyman 4 (2500 XP), you can choose to craft one of those items. At Equite 1, you will be granted another Interchangeable Power Cell to craft one of the aforementioned items you did not craft at Journeyman 4. This change was made to make the process of earning your Knight's Lightsaber feel more like a journey/accomplishment, and introduce our newer members to the Crafting System.

I know that was short, but I'm crunched for time today and there is so much more to come as we do our staged rollout of the various item types you'll be able to craft. First up are Lightsabers and Member Corvettes, which will launch sometime over the next week. That will be followed by Armor and Droids, and then Space Vehicles and Land Vehicles. The crafting system opens up so many different possibilities and avenues within possessions, and can be leveraged so many different ways (craftable upgrades, anyone?!). I am pumped for the initial launch of this project, and I'm so excited to see it completed and completely available to use. Stay tuned!

Excited for the potential this system has. Also the organic learning process. Good job.

Yass, looks like a loooot of work went into this. Can't wait to try out all the features.

Excited for this! Very cool addition to the club.

I’ve been so excited to see this finally launch. Love the potential, love the organic learning. Great work team regent and James for getting this out there!

Looking at the crafting system

Cool

Awesome! It’s great to see this become a reality. Kudos to everyone involved!

Can't wait to have my own corvette!

Excited for this!!

So many moving parts, but it's bringing that little touch of "Growth has benefits" to the beginning stages again. I cannot wait to see where these beginning steps in crafting take us.

This is really cool! Question, the changes to the Test of Acquisition, are they retroactive for those who had completed it?

Diy, anyone who has already taken the ToA should have received the items necessary to craft whichever weapon they didn't already get when taking the test.

Oooh, I am looking forward to digging into this. Will have to think through what I want to craft, since I assume disassembly of crafted items is not so much a thing.

Benny it is. Just above the table it says Items that have been crafted are able to be “disassembled” using a disassemble recipe, returning the full crafting materials to your inventory (including Carbon Nanofiber).
