Pro Bowl

Last month we participated in the seventh annual Pro Bowl and this year was bigger than EVER before with the entire Brotherhood taking part. Over the course of the 4 week event and 33 total competitions a grand total of 1050 entries were submitted. You can check out the Pro Bowl Results here with a more in depth breakdown of the general results and points for the top 10 overall placements. I am not going to get too far into what’s been covered there but I will say this, the top three placements all came from Plagueis with two of them hailing from right here in Tyranus, I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Alaris for their third place overall placement!

I am really proud of the effort put out by the house for this event, as usually you have blown away my expectations. There were 12 unique participants in house Tyranus meaning that 75% of the house participated in at least one competition during the event. Overall we submitted a whopping 165 total competition entries with an average of 13.75 entries per participant (which is higher than the overall event average!). There were 33 possible competitions to enter and 7 members submitted to 10 or more and 4 members who entered 20 or more competitions. But it wasn’t just quantity over quality, the members of Tyranus combined for an incredible 28 top 3 placements!

These are all a bunch of numbers and stats that boil down into one important fact, y’all KILLED it. Now, this is something that I have come to expect from the members of the house since I returned to leadership but you have shown the entire Brotherhood what it means to be a Tyrant, and that is something each and every one of you should be proud of.

This great way to segue into the next part of my report…

Brotherhood News

Now, normally this section of the report is just filled with links to reports from across the Brotherhood that I think you should read, and yes you are going to be getting this in a moment, but first I want to talk about what is on the horizon…

WAR!!

That’s right, we are just a few weeks away from Great Jedi War XVI! For those of you who have never participated in a GJW before or for those that just need a refresher, I am going to break things down a little bit for you. A GJW is a Brotherhood wide event that advances the club wide storyline while putting all of the clans into competition against each other as each clan vies for the title of First Clan.

What is the First Clan? That, my friends, is the clan who has earned the most points over the course of the war. How do we become the First Clan? Well we can only do that with your help. There are two ways of earning points during the war, the first is simply participating in competitions. Competitions during the war are broken down into separate bins that contain similar competitions with multiple bins during each phase of the war as well as Event Long Bins that run the entire length of the War. Participation in a bin will earn you points towards victory, to get participation in a bin you simply need to submit a valid entry to one of the comps within it. Participating in all of the bins will generally earn you bonus points!

The second way to earn points for your clan is through placement! Placements will always earn both you and the clan even more points towards victory. Placement is weighted much heavier than it is in an event like the Pro Bowl, that means putting the effort in and placing in a competition could very well be what separates the First Clan from the rest!

The schedule for GJW XVI is currently set for Phase 1 running from August 26th to September 10th followed by a rest week from September 11th to September 15th and Phase 2 beginning on September 16th and the whole thing ending on October 1st .

Before you go off ready for war, I want to give a little piece of advice on how to approach a GJW. Once the competitions have gone live take a look at them, find one competition in each Bin that you feel confident in and go for it! In order to receive placement credit for a Bin you just need to participate in one of the competitions contained in the Bin, by picking one competition per Bin to focus on you can avoid stretching yourself too thin while increasing your chances of placement. Once you know what competitions you want to participate in, prioritize them.

I generally start with the fictions, by familiarizing myself with the competition requirements I can begin to piece together the skeletal structure of what my story will become. Generally competitions such as Fictions, Audiobooks or Battle Plans can be the most time consuming so getting an early start on them will allow you to put in the time to ensure that you are telling the story you want to tell and getting an entry in on time (nobody wants to miss the submission deadline)! Another important thing to do early on in the war is look at group based competitions that you are interested in participating in, this allows you to start forming teams for these competitions and allows everyone involved to become familiar with the requirements and to start brainstorming. Once you have participation in each of the bins, then go crazy and submit to more competitions!!

One last piece of advice I have for everyone is to READ THE COMPETITION RULES CAREFULLY! You don’t want to get disqualified from a puzzle competition for not including the puzzle piece count/having the wrong number of pieces or gaming for not playing the right game mode.

And of course, the most important thing to remember…HAVE FUN! That is why we are all here isn’t it?
