Voice of the Brotherhood: New Species + Granted Languages Note

This is a quick report to discuss approval of a few new species now available, some discussion on approving species, and a note on languages since it came up today, to follow up with what Sarin mentioned in his report about it.

Species

Some image work needed, as we apply the appropriate filters, both Aleena and Ithorian are now available as species in the CS system for all members. Feats were written to give each species a unique feel. Updated wiki page is here.

Aleena

Ithorian

Approving a Species In order to be considered for approval, a species must meet two criteria: Have a Force-sensitive example from Canon and be space faring. This isn't retroactive, but will be applied to all new requested species in the future.

Granted Languages

A quick note on languages. By default, all species are granted Basic, and their species language if they have one as a second language. In the expanded universe of Star Wars, many species don't learn Basic and instead learn a different trade language to communicate between species based on their region of space. In order to ensure that all members of the DJB can at a basic and realistic level communicate with one another, as a community, that language will always be Basic. That does not prevent a member from picking up these additional languages as they build their characters.

TL;DR You can be an Aleena or an Ithorian, and your species only gets Basic + as applicable 1 more species language

Sounds good! Yay species!

Yay more diversity! I feel alittle insecure if a Master Ithorian could shatter the bones of my body.

Second!

Woot. Such policy, wow.

(Also, I helped)

Aleena! Something we can readily punt at last!

Let's hope protocol droids never become a species, or C-3PO will be listed as a supreme grand master with over 6 million languages.

I am so glad to see more species and such being added. Woohoo!
