Voice Report #3: Always Be Hiring: Redux - Soon We Bid Farewell to our Combat Wombat.

Wherein We Prepare to Bid the Combat Wombat Farewell:

It seems the adage of leaders in the DB constantly hiring is, well, consistent.

I was approached mid-February by our wonderful Wombat master, who had concerns regarding his position, burnout, and the need to take a break from leadership. Appy has been a trooper through it all, wrapping up his duties, project work, and offering to hang on through the end of the Herald's current Shrouding New Ground event.

With the next War on the horizon, Anderson had planned to announce his departure himself so that we could get his replacement in office and caught up to speed ahead of time. Unfortunately, the words haven't come easily to him, and he's asked me to step up and make this announcement for him. To that end, I want to first, and foremost, thank our wonderful Wombat Master for all the work, time, and effort he put in. The hype building, the new arenas, and consistent outreach to the different Clans to promote ACC ventures, as well as continuous efforts to keep the ACC active and moving, which was evident to me even from the outside looking in, as I was Odan-Urr's Consul during the bulk of it. His infectious community energy is the exact kind of energy I would look for in a staff member, especially someone leading an integral society like the Antei Combat Center.

This leads me to...

An Elegant Combat Master for a More Civilized ACC:

Unfortunately, with Anderson's resignation on the horizon, I have to hire— Again.

This is, however, an exciting opportunity for a new Combat Master to cut their teeth as a member of the Staff, assist the Voice Staff with project work, and, more importantly, help drive and direct the future direction of the ACC. Applications will run from Today 31MAR2026 until 14APR2026, to allow the new Combat Master time to integrate ahead of War. The duties of this role are pretty straightforward:

• Run and manage occasional tournaments.
• Workshop new events, programs, or engagements for the ACC.
• Maintain the venue list.
• Facilitate halls and judging lists for clan events
• Make sure judges are on task while scoring, and only stepping in as needed (With the current system, judging is left to the members, and the Combat Master should not need to claim matches outside of specific instances routinely)
• Promote healthy, normal ACC usage.
• Assist the Voice Staff during low task volume periods (The Combat Master is akin to a Special Magistrate within the Voice Office and has access to our workflow)
  • Voice Support duties include Character Sheet approvals, Custom Discipline Review, Proposal reviews, and more.

The requirements are also pretty straightforward:

• No minimum rank or leadership experience (but I request that you have no more than 2 active staff/leadership positions).
• Understanding of, and Interest in, the ACC and its systems.
• The passion, and drive, to expand the ACC and user experience.
• Creativity.
• Willingness to work with a team, debate, and shift goals as needed.
• Inoculation against Mavirus-J (you'll share a workbench with Jenni on occasion).

The Return of Lorefest:

Remember Lorefest? Pepperidge Farms remembers. I intended to start it up at the beginning of March, but life and other projects got away from me before I could set it up. We'll take a short break when War kicks off, and swing back into pace afterwards. I'll release the first prompts next week alongside a Supplemental with some minor updates.
