The Character Sheet Reference Update is Live

C-SIR Has Rolled to Live:

Just before the beginning of GJW: XVII, I launched a notice about the rolling beta for the eventual update of the new Character Sheet Reference Tool. Since then we've gathered a fair amount of feedback, implemented changes, and looked toward future proofing it and other sections of the site.

What does this mean for you? You no longer require a beta ticket to access the updated version of the CSR. The functions and accessibility are entirely available henceforth, and as always, if you find any errors or updates to be made, you can report them to us for correction.

One True Source of Knowledge

Part of the reasoning behind updating the Character Sheet Reference was to consolidate and make the tools friendlier for daily access and use; another was to remove the need for redundant systems and updates. Following this update, we will be deprecating the associated DJBWiki articles. Navigating multiple pages, references, and the confusion caused by outdated or improperly pruned articles that refer to various versions and characters' uses of abilities, species, skills, etc., has led to more than one instance of member confusion, misrepresented use, and at times argumentation.

We have maintained, previously, a list of Voice Approved and Maintained articles but the wiki has grown massive over its many years of operation (18,868 Unique Page IDs, 4,233 Content Pages, as of writing this report Edit: Details were off, thank our lovely Strix for correction), and many articles and references can slip through the cracks. Moving things entirely to the website also helps us combat a number of other problems and adds some additional functionality.

Now, the Sheets are Character Aware and can reference your unique characters via dropdown, and verify on the fly whether or not your current builds, rank, etc. meet the requirements for different abilities, feats, and more; secondly, with the growing issues of webcrawlers, redirection of traffic, and web instability, it allows us to maintain consistent uptime for functionality when the Wiki goes down. No longer will our membership rely on the Wayback Machine to verify abilities or build out character concepts if we get hit with trawlers or heavy traffic load on the wiki side.

Post-War Events

In the next few weeks, the Office of the Voice of the Brotherhood will be returning to our regularly scheduled Lorefest, with some additional content, including new monthly RPs and Vocabulary-focused puzzles/games (think Worldle, Crosswords, etc).
