Jakku Fallen Starship

A year after the destruction of the second Death Star in the celebrated Battle of Endor, another war was waged between the New Republic and Galactic Empire. Basking beneath the desert sun of Jakku rests the remnants of this hostility. Shifting sands have since buried and uncovered countless treasures and relics—to the delight of scavengers eager who hope to recover tokens from either side of the conflict!

The harsh desert offers little shelter from the elements, remaining barren and flat against the imposing backdrop of a fallen Star Destroyer that was left uncovered after the famed Battle of Jakku. Rather than allowing the vessel to fall into the hands of the Republic after the self-destruct had been sabotaged, Captain Ciena Ree ordered the Inflictor evacuated and sent it crashing to the planet’s surface. Sunken into the shifting desert sea, the upper portion of the Inflictor’s hull and exhaust ports remain otherwise intact, preserved amidst the rubble of untold casualties that had once occurred on both sides. Although it has been scoured by the passing of several sandstorms, it still displays the former power and might of the Galactic Empire.

Fallen Starship

Countless scraps of metal and machines of war share the same grave, echoing the lives of those who fought and died among the perilous wastes. Hundreds of these relics sit untouched, lingering amidst the ghosts that tend and reside in Jakku’s graveyard.

Hevan climbed up onto an old X-Wing that overlooked the valley and salt flats in between the massive dunes. In this valley lay the ruined husk of a Star Destroyer, long laying derelict but recently taken as a refuge for scavengers. Hevan, from his vantage point, surveyed the destroyed and burnt out sublight drives where small tents and vehicles could be seen. He focused on them, using his electrobinoculars to view the ramshackle housing that scavengers had set up. He doubted whether they would willingly let him in, especially if he would be leaving with something taken from the vessel. At least, not willingly. "Beastie?" A snarl greeted him and the whole X-Wing shook as his partner jumped on, baring his teeth and growling in anticipation. "Go. Have your fun, I shall meet you at the hangar when you're done."

Fenrir ran off, nearly tumbling down the dunes in his anticipation to kill. Hevan sighed as he watched the furry blur head towards the scavengers, unholstering his rifle and laying prone, watching the beast through his sight. He focused up on the scavengers, running in fear and terror as the horror bore down upon them. Shots were fired at the furry blur, none ever coming close to hitting the beast, before they would be savagely ripped apart.

Hevan got up, checking his bag and reholstering his rifle as the prepared to move in, the beast operating as a prefect distraction while he moved to fulfil his master's goal. He calmly walked down the large dunes, screams and blaster echoes faintly entering his ear, becoming louder the closer he got. He looked for a way in that wasn't either covered in blood or filled with traps, eventually finding a small crater that would allow him to cut his way in.

Using his lightsaber, he sliced through the thinner metal and carefully crawled through the hole into a pitch black corridor, hoping that there would be no traps in here, but he doubted that there would be. Pulling a flare from his backpack, he lit it and walked down the tunnel, the screams dying out the further he went. He passed by dead stormtroopers and rebels alike, long dead and preserved nearly perfectly in the dry climate.

Climbing through a hole in the wall, he entered a small, dimly lit repurposed command room, freshly killed bodies sprawling across the tables, blood splattered upon the walls and dripping off tables.

The beast moved quicker than he expected, Hevan recalling his masters warning of the beast, dropping the flare and steadying his blaster before moving cautiously through towards the elevators. He passed through blood puddles, mutilated bodies and torn metal, eventually hearing a growl in the pitch darkness. He lit his flare, the red light revealing the blood soaked beast.

Hevan was no novice to war nor one scared of bloodshed, but this wanton death and mutilation left on Fenrir's path raised more than an eyebrow. There was a low whistle as he looked around, almost as if saying he's glad the monster is on his side.

"Well, that's that. Shall we push on, then"

Almost immediately, he heard a voice in his head. "Yes." He knew was from the blood-soaked beast in front of him, for there was an accompanying growl.

Hevan waded through the slaughter and pushed on further, with the giant Fenrir taking the role of a rearguard. At least his six was safe, for now. From the small room, they entered into a larger one, and then strode through a long corridor. Two paths forked from there, one of which led to a dilapidated doorway that still showered sparks. No one could go that way. The other path led to what seemed like a much larger room. They walked towards it and through the doorway. It wasn't a 'much larger room.' This room was as large as cavern or a valley to them. Their lightest footfalls on the dusty, moss-riddled floor produced gentle, reverberating sounds from all around. The human immediately cocked his sniper rifle, as by instinct he knew it was an ideal place for an ambush. There were indeed many places for ambushers to hide: behind the columns, in the shadows, and on top of the wide beams on top. At the far end of the room, though, a large part of the ships side was rent and destroyed, allowing a great, wide beam of sunlight to land at an angle. Hevan could almost make out the silhouette of...

This time the human received a mental image on an AT-ST from the monstrous creature.

"Yes, I see it too."

Fenrir gave out a low growl and suddenly glanced at a particular direction, and moved with superhuman speed. A bullet hit the wall behind him, and then another.

"Sniper. Take cover!"

"Breakfast" said Fenrir from behind a pile of metal crates as large as him.

Hevan retorted in surprise from behind a tall column. "What breakfast? You just had one back there!"

"Second breakfast. GRRRAAAAAAHH!" That one roar was loud enough to shake the dust off every wall there, and perhaps curdle the blood off their ambushers.

Hevan sighed audibly, rolling his eyes and readying his rifle. His partner had stopped and turned after a bolt clipped cleanly through his right arm, causing the beast to yelp and run to cover. Hevan set his sights, ducking as another shot hit near his hand, before pulling back up and firing a single shot into the dark hangar.

Still hiding, Fenrir, with his finer tuned ears, was able to hear a thump and clatter as the sniper's body fell to the ground.

Hevan poked his head up once Fenrir perked out of cover, slinging his rifle back over his shoulder and advancing carefully towards the ATST. The walker hadn't been activated yet. If it had, he'd be dead.

Lifting his arm and gesturing at the walker with two fingers, Hevan ran to inspect the snipers body while Fenrir snuck onto the gantry that allowed access to the walker. Hevan prodded the body, inspecting the kill mark - a nice clean impact between the eyes - while the beast jumped inside the walker.

The human heard growling, scratching, ripping metal and small explosions before the walker collapsed and smashed against the hangar floor, the creature inside jumping out the cupola as it fell, leaving only a destroyed and ruined interior behind.

"Good job?" The voice in Hevan's head echoed as he turned back around, his inspection disturbed by the quieter than usual savagery that was so common in Fenrir.

"Good job. You're getting quieter wee beastie!" Hevan laughed as he scanned the body, then turning his gaze to a small maintenance panel, then to the walker.

"Grab me that power source will you?" Hevan gestured at the power cell bank kept within the back of the walker, pulling his backpack off and feeling for the power cable, simultaneously dragging his pack towards the console. The beast responded quickly, bounding to the rear and ripping off the grate and metal sheeting protecting the power cells. He pulled one out, the blue core pulsing slightly in Fenrir`s hands.

Hevan had plugged in the cable into the console by the time Fenrir had returned, waiting patiently as the beast came closer, clutching the cell. He gestured at the ground, holding up the other end of the portable cable. The beast placed the cell down, Hevan quickly placing the cable plug in, a dull clunk audible as it slotted tightly into place. The console's lights flickered on, screens slowly fading back into life. Thankfully it wasn't damaged, Hevan didn't have time for that.

"Mainframes offline, but I just need to get to a central terminal for what we need. From what this tells me, nearest one is hangar control. Up there." Hevan pointed up at the shattered window from where the sniper fell. "From there, we can extract through an escape pod, once we're out in the sand, shuttle will come down and pick us up."
