The spooks are out, the kids run round, the shrill screams a chilling sound.

The ghouls will march, as the shadow grow long, the spookies will dance, to the pumpkin god's song.

The fog sets in, the heart races, in the light of fear, the nervous paces.

shivers and terrors, nightmares given flesh face up to the ghoulies attentive and fresh!

Once a member of Clan Tarentum, Magik was aware of the Shroud's existence. With no insight into it's undertakings, the Shroud Syndicate was left to the imagination for most of us. Conversations surrounding the Shroud were prohibited to those outside it's ranks. Not much was known about the Shroud except that Tarentum were the guardians of the Shroud. All non hyperspace travel was diverted to the outskirts of the Shroud. An outpost controlled by Clan Tarentum under the Dark Council. Tarentum guarded the entrance to the Shroud from outside visitors. Clan Tarentum were the "Guardians of the Shroud".

After Tarentum's closure Magik found himself on the streets of Estle City in Port Ol'Val. He was then approached by Clan Arcona to join them. As a Rogue in Estle City he made no difference dead or alive. The Dajorra System is where he made his home as Rogue on the run. Tarentum had fallen and it's members where forced to pursue other means of independence. Tarentum still lives on, but to only those who seek it. The Arconans embraced his presence as they watched him for some time while in Estle City. He had made new contacts among the Arconans and was welcomed into their ranks. As differences were set aside Magik made himself at home in Estle City now a new member of Clan Arcona.

As the days and nights went on Magik found a new way of life as an Arconan. Joining in the Arconan operations and missions here in Port Ol'Val. It was hard for Magik to believe he was here for a reason. His existence in Estle City was no mistake. The circumstances surrounding Tarentum had brought him here to the Dajorra System for this very reason. As Tarentum succeeded it's misfortunes Arcona excepted his calling. Magik quickly took to the secretive operations on the streets of Estle City ran by Arcona. Operations in the Port were secluded and well guarded. He was now under control as a newly appointed member of the Clan.

As things were going well for Magik in Estle City he began to ponder Tarentum's past. As his allies were now distant in the galaxy. He wondered what had happened to Tarentum's operations. Where had their presence taken them. As he kept in touch with numerous allies once members of Tarentum he needed questions answered. Reaching out to them indeed settled his frustrations as he was looking for some sort of explanation for his new undertakings. As the pieces started to come together Magik was no longer puzzled with frustration. He accepted his new role in Arcona as he assessed his presence in Port Ol'Val.

As thing progressed in Estle City Magik was a now a trusted Arconan. He had been in numerous Arconan missions as he looked upon the City, wondering if the was something more out there for him. He reached out to Arcona for answers. His questions did not go unanswered. He was then approached by several ranking members of Arcona.

Magik was aware of the Shroud Syndicate as a Tarenti. As the Arconas explained it's existence to him in detail. They wanted him to join the Shroud and become a member of the Shroud Syndicate with Arcona. The criminal operations were laid before him in Estle City and Port Ol'Val. The Shroud organization throughout the Dajorra System was now his. As he accepted the Shroud and became an appointed member of the Shroud Syndicate. His orders rested before him in Ol'Val. As Tarentum was once "Guardians of the Shroud," Magik took his place amongst within their ranks.

Come here, darlin, And I'll tell ya a tale, About the real monsters in the room.

See, it's not about beasties or bloodsucking, Not about haunting or grave-rising. It's about being afraid Of mistakes we've made Of the things inside We're so desperate to hide.

We make up these tales, you know, For all those worries to have someplace to go, Skin for parchment and bloody ink And a wine too bitter to drink. It's in those pages that we send All the urges we wish would end.

A longing for life, for love, for lust, A fear and rage and lack of trust, The wounds in hearts that make men wild, That we use to counsole a child.

We make masks for monsters, dear, To protect ourselves from all we fear. Because we have no other way No other words to convey The ugly inside us that we force on others And the violation forced on ourselves. We make masks of monsters, love, Because if we didn't put them in books, If we didn't give them big mouths with teeth and claws and mean looks, We'd have to see under those masks and know It's inside where the real horrors grow.

And here's the worst part Nightmares might not be real but the monsters are And they have no fear of daylight.

This isn't a story This isn't some place for dreams Or rhyme schemes

This is eyes open Mouth shut

Reality.

And here's the story I have to tell about monsters

My monster had a name And I loved him More than I ever loved me. And maybe he needed me But he needed to own me more. We never saw each other coming, and by the time I cared enough to look what I'd done, what we'd done My monster Had made a monster of me.

And I let him.

My monster Was like a speeder crash. Inevitable. He was a speeder and I was a driver who lost control. I saw the lights and no matter what I did or how hard I screamed...it happened. And no one blames the car — they blame the driver. And sometimes they shouldn't.

But sometimes

They should.

That's what monsters are, love. Not ghosts or ghouls, just Us. And our choices.

Take it straight from the mouth of one.

Humming a macabre tune she picked up from some slimy back alley on Nar Shaddaa, the small girl Reeka played with her braided hair while her father watched the transmission playing the commlink connected to his Inquisitorius channel. The voice of Marick Tyris drew the child’s attention, but she waited while the holorecording played before inquiring about its message. The sound echoed throughout the empty hold of Kul’s vessel, a Delta-class T-3c shuttle.

“...We are the blade that will strike back against the Collective, and we will support the Iron Forces by providing them the knowledge they need to defeat any that threaten the Brotherhood.”

As the message faded out and Kul closed the connection he gave a sideways glance at the child before huffing to himself. He had adopted the girl some time ago, but only recently had brought her back out into the world to continue her training. The timing of this message was another reminder to the Zabrak that his loyalties did not extend to just the Brotherhood anymore. Of course, he had no intentions of betraying either the Brotherhood or his clan, Plagueis, but with Tahiri and Reeka he knew that his physical weaknesses amounted to nothing when compared to the fear of what might happen should the enemies of the Inquisitorius discover them.

Kul leaned down and raised a gauntleted hand, laying it gently upon Reeka’s head. He lifted it several times in a gentle patting motion.

“You can take care of yourself, though, can’t you, little Reek?”

The tiny human girl lifted her face so that his fingers covered her eyes and she giggled.

“Of course, Father. But are you going somewhere?”

Lifting her hands away from her hair, Reeka clasped them around Kul’s forearm and waited. Smiling to himself, Kul flexed his fingers and tightened his grip on her skull. He stood carefully with her dangling and swinging her legs while she giggled ecstatically. Kul wasn’t sure why she enjoyed this particular game so much, but she was the only being in the galaxy who could claim to have remained alive after being gripped in such a manner by him.

“We shall see, little Reek. Just as the blade must obey its master, so too must I answer the call if need be. For now we shall be patient and gather information. Such is the basis for all successful missions. Knowledge in itself is power to a degree.”

He wasn’t sure where she pulled it from, but Reeka now had her left hand out to the side swinging one of her beloved vibrodaggers. Kul had never been one very talented in the ability to sense a being’s strength or presence using the Force, but he clearly felt the cold bloodlust that emanated from his daughter now. A growing feeling told him that if he had chosen to look into her eyes, he would have seen the disturbing lingerings of her shadows.

“But Father...can’t we just kill them now? Wouldn’t that fix the problem?”

Kul shut his eyes and felt the suspiration leave his lips in a heavy gust.

“And do you even know exactly who we would need to kill, little Reek?”

Kul jolted as he felt cold durasteel slice into his arm. He knew it was an accident more than anything, that his daughter had moments of intensity where her very being seemed to be a dark cloud bearing down on him. However, it was neither that nor the hungry look in her eyes as she spun her dagger that gave him concern.

“Why Father...we can just kill them all.”
