Consul Report

Aloha and good evening, Tarentum.

I feel compelled to begin discussing the Great Jedi War with everyone at this time, so while this report may have some length to it (I'll try to keep it short), please, take the time to read through this address. As we draw closer to the Great Jedi War, some of this information can be very helpful, especially to those of you who have not experienced something of this level before.

The term "Great Jedi War" (or "GJW" for short) signifies the largest-scale competition that the Dark Brotherhood has to offer its members. These events encompass every Clan, and every aspect of the Brotherhood, both the realistic aspects, as well as the fictional aspects. These events typically last several weeks long, with some of the longer GJWs lasting several months, during which a great many events will be played out. These include gaming events (anything from Jedi Outcast to Battlefront II), writing events (run-ons, short stories, poetry and more), Antei Combat Center (ACC) matches, graphics creation, internet scavenger hunts, crossword puzzles, debates, trivia, battleplan creation, and more. This really is where the big guns must come out, and where everyone has to put forth their best efforts in order to accomplish what we all want to do--have fun. Yes, winning can be important, and when Tarentum puts forth her best, we are always in the top three.

We have a great many talented individuals who have shown their worth in competitions throughout their time within the Brotherhood. Many of these people are your positioned leaders, some of them are not. However, there are so many experienced veterans in this Clan, both talented gamers and creative writers, and we have what it takes to win. What this means is, though, that we need to be active about it. Personally, I would very much like to see Tarentum win this War. I think many of you would like to see it, as well.

There is going to be several weeks of competition, perhaps even several months, in this upcoming GJW. No, I do not know when the start date is. The Grand Master has said that, prior to the release of the GJW, the Consuls will be given the full GJW storyline, so that we can look it over, make sure that Clan-specific info is correct, and also give our own thoughts on the overall storyline, and how it affects our Clans. To date, I have not received this background story, and I can only assume they will give us at least a couple of weeks to look it over before they do finally start the GJW. In short, I would guess that the GJW won't start until August, or the very end of this month at the earliest. So, now is the time to prepare.

Gamers, you will be called upon to represent yourselves, each other, and Tarentum in gaming events ranging from 1 vs. 1 matches, to CTF matches, and anything in-between. You will be asked to exhibit your skills dutifully, but you will also be asked (most importantly) to have fun. These events are for your benefit, something that the Dark Council wants to offer you to live out your own experiences in the Star Wars universe. Do what you can to help the Clan win, but do what you want to make sure that it really is an enjoyable event. Have fun, make friends, and be a part of this. We have a great many skilled gamers in this Clan, and if you're new to gaming, or just new to this Clan, I would encourage you all to start getting to know some of our gamers. If you need help getting to meet them, toss myself and Korras an email, or just hit "reply to all" on this email, and let us know that you'd like help on this. Korras and I will make sure that you get to make new friends with our gamers, and we'll help make sure you have an awesome firs, or "next" GJW.

Writers, you will be called upon to represent the fictional successes and trials that Tarentum experiences during this upcoming GJW. You will be asked to participate in anything from run-ons, to writing your own short stories. This War is driven by an overall background story that you will get to help manipulate through your own creative ideas, and what is put forward on behalf of yourselves, your friends, and Tarentum as a whole. You can literally come up with infinite possibilities, limited only by what you want to put down on paper and submit. We have some amazing writers in this Clan. If you need help coming up with ideas, or want to get to know some of your Clan's excellent people to add to your stories, I ask you, also, to get in touch with myself and Korras, and we'll help you meet people, and figure out what you need to know to make your works of fiction as creative and well-written as we can. Take your creative ideas and stories to new heights in this upcoming GJW, be it your first, or just your most-recent.

During the Fifth Great Jedi War, in which I was also Consul of Tarentum, I made it a practice to write my reports "in character," meaning that I wrote them out to add to the flavor of the fiction, and try and make things have a more "realistic," fiction-enhanced feel to them. I wrote them all, not as "Bloodfyre" the guy behind the computer, but Sith Bloodfyre, Consul of Tarentum. I will be doing the same for this GJW. For the gamers, I hope you enjoy reading them. Maybe it'll show you another side of the Brotherhood, another side of Tarentum, and maybe it'll entice you to start writing on your own, as well. For writers, maybe it'll give you some insight into the facets of this Clan, or just offer you some ideas on how to word, or manipulate a story that you're working on. Either way, I would encourage you all to remember that this GJW has both a fictional side, as well as a realistic side. The entire Brotherhood is the same; there are things that happen "for real," and things that happen only as a fictional result, motivator, or otherwise. Remember that when it comes time to take part in this War. Some of you will play large parts realistically, and will be rewarded for your efforts with medals, promotions and otherwise. Some of you will play a large part fictionally, which may affect your rewards, and it may not. If you are looking to have a good time, earn some medals, or just take part in this to help out the Clan, I would encourage you all to find what activities you want to take part in, and have some fun doing them.

At the end of the GJW, when all the events are tallied, when the scores come in, one thing will stand out as having the most importance. Once question will be asked, whose answer will help me to understand if it was a good GJW, or not. That question will be, "Did you have fun?" I hope the answer will be a yes. If it is not, you will be encouraged to speak up as to why it wasn't fun, what happened to drain the entertainment value, or what could be done to improve on it. However, whether you had fun or not, if you participate, you will be rewarded kindly for your efforts. In Tarentum, we have a fictional rewarding system that takes into account both titles, as well as "Clan property." In this system of titles and grants, you may be gifted with a title to signify your status within the Clan, and what actions you have been noted for. Past examples would be someone such as Telona Murrage, the Seraphi Ater (Dark Angel) of Tarentum who is much like a shadow, a spy, an assassin, and more for Tarentum. You may also be gifted with a land grant, meaning that a portion of the Clan's holding has been gifted to you as your personal residence. Someone like Spears Tarentae, the master of the Estadian Expanse, former Consul and former Headmaster on the Dark Council, who is as dark and powerful as he is drunk and generous. Each of you has the chance to gain these fictional rewards due to your own actions and level of participation in this GJW.

You will also be able to earn other medals and promotions that will be recognized on your DB dossier. Some of you may even see your way close to the rank of Dark Jedi Knight, or even beyond. In any event, there are great rewards to be had by participating in this Brotherhood-wide competition, and I would love to see you all take part in this. As it comes closer to the starting date, more information will be revealed, both through myself and Korras, as well as through the Dark Council on the DB news page (http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/news.asp).

The Great Jedi War is something that does not happen very often, generally every other year. This is an opportunity for you all to be a part of this as a Clan, but also an opportunity to make a name for yourselves as individuals. Be prepared to take a part in this, Tarentum. Be prepared to have some fun with this. But, most of all, be prepared to be united in this. We need to act as a Clan, and I know that each of you has it in you to help yourselves, and help each other, be successful in this GJW. I will be there to help each of you, and the leaders of this Clan will be ready to do what we can to make this a successful campaign. Be prepared.

Have a good week, Tarentum.
