Consul Report

(Just a small reminder, as usual. For the course of the Great Jedi War, Clan Addresses will be made in character. Additional information to help you with the War events and such will follow in a separate email.)

VSD Corsair, Flagship of Tarentum

Inside the Shroud, Antei

Day Four

"We continue to evade the Vong forces, Marshal."

"Excellent. Inform me at once if the situation changes," Oberst ordered.

The large and powerful Marshal of Tarentum turned from the bridge command officer and headed towards the war room onboard the Victory-class flagship of the Clan of Life and Death. The doors slid open to allow the large human from Chandrilla to pass by, and then slid shut again. Inside were the Consul and Proconsul, Sith Bloodfyre and Korras; the General of the Clan's armies, the Yevethan Doni Tzu; and the Summit of House Tridens, Archean and Welshman. Oberst stepped over to stand in the circle of his Clanmates, and then nodded slightly to the Consul.

"We continue to evade the Vong," Oberst stated. "Thus far, we have taken no direct assaults from them for several hours. I would suggest we continue with our strategy until we are forced to confront them directly. And even then, if we are to make our way to Antei, I suggest we do not confront the Vong until we have gained a secure area from Antei to defend ourselves, and have equipped ourselves thoroughly from the Dark Council's armory."

"I agree," Korras nodded. "We have no reason to fight these Vong. Let the other Clans fall to their might. Once we reach Antei, we can finally communicate with Yridia, call in reinforcements, and then make our way back to Yridia after we have restocked and refueled. I'd much rather defend our own system, than the Dark Council's. They have given us no reason to stay."

"Except for our role as Guardians of the Shroud," Welshman added, somewhat sarcastically.

"I believe our time assss Guardianssssss issss over," Doni Tzu said, his reptilian accent drawing out his words. "I sssssssay we give up thissssss role. It doesss usssss no good. And makesssss usssss sssssssomewhat more vulnerable, having two domainssssss to care for."

"It is not the time to decide whether we will continue our role as Guardians," the Shaevalian Consul replied. "I have had similar thoughts lately, I admit, but now is not the time for these thoughts. We continue to evade the Vong. Marshal, General, my appreciation to you and your command officers for your continued success in leading our forces during these trying times. There are many of Tarentum, both Dark Sider and soldier alike, who have fought bravely for this Clan, and their actions will forever be honored. When we return to Yridia, we will be honoring our brothers and sisters with our highest accolades and gifts of gratitude."

"We still need to prepare for the conflict on Antei, though," Archean said. "I can feel it coming. It doesn't make sense that victory would come just by reaching Antei. These Vong are outside of the Force. There is something awful strange and dreadful about them. Even those of us who are blind can see that much."

"You are correct, my friend," Bloodfyre agreed, nodding. "I do not believe reaching Antei is the key to victory. I do not know why the other Clans see Antei as the key to defeating these Vong. I think Donitz's statements from the other day are correct. We ought to abandon Antei, leave it to the Vong, and find shelter where we can. There is no sense in hiding, if we are simply seeking to occlude our demise from the galaxy's eyes. Every other people of this galaxy is suffering at the hands of the Vong. Even the hated Jedi are doomed to destruction. I would almost seek allies among the old Empire at this point, if those closed-minded wretches on the Dark Council had half a brain between them."

A couple of smirks found their way onto the mouths of even the darkest beings in this circle.

"We continue to do well, my friends," Bloodfyre continued, "but we do have situations to resolve. For the time being, with neither Mune nor Windos here in the Shroud, the warriors of Gladius are seemingly leaderless. I think for the time being, I am going to take direct control of Gladius. I have someone in mind to assist me with the duties of controlling the warriors of Gladius until such a time comes as we return to Yridia. Perhaps Mune and Windos will still be in control of the House there. If not, we will have to look for a new Summit of Gladius."

"I will remind our warriors to do all that they can," Archean said. "Tridens members here and in Yridia will know their duty. I am sure that those left behind will be under the instruction of Warlord Rekio and Admiral Armus. But while we are here, Tridens will always be fulfilling our role, Consul."

"I know they will, Archean," Bloodfyre said. "And I appreciate the efforts of yourself and Welshman in directing your House, and helping to lead this Clan to victory."

"As long as every member of Tarentum is doing their duty," Korras chimed in, "we will forever be victorious. There have been rumors of attacks on Tarentum vessels from other Clans, including some reports that Taldryan has even attacked our members. I was not aware that Taldryan was even remotely close to our location. But we must stand vigilant and motivated in our cause. If the other Clans assault us, we will direct our anger and rage towards them, and push them back into the clutches of the Vong. No Clan's treachery will be tolerated against us."

The members of the circle nodded. There was not much more to say. The assault of the Vong continued, and each member of Tarentum continued to be determined to survive, to fight off the Vong, and to return to Yridia in victory. The members of Tarentum caught in the Shroud had no idea what was happening in their home system, and returning there to defend their Clan's home and strongholds was a priority. This would all be over soon, for certain, but the end of this conflict continued to remain shrouded from even the greatest of the Clan's prescient minds.
