Consul Report

(As usual, just a reminder that, for the course of the Great Jedi War, my Clan Addresses are in character. If you need side info about GJW events and such, please, email me back and I'll do what I can to help you out.)

VSD Corsair, Flagship of Clan Tarentum

Orbitting Antei

"Taldryan has apparently beaten us here, Master Bloodfyre," Oberst stated as the Tarentum fleet moved into position to block the opposing Clan's ships in the planet's gravity.

"Master Zero?" the Shaevalian questioned the powerful and respected Master of Tarentum. Bloodfyre left the question as is; Master Zero was bound to know the Consul's thoughts even without probing his mind.

"The opportunity to attack is ours, Consul," Zero responded. "But the question isn't whether or not we should attack. The real question is, who is our real enemy? Who is our real concern?"

"I say we attack," Korras said to the Consul's left. "Taldryan would attack us, given the same situation. They would work to leave us for defeated, leave us for the Vong, and then raid the stores of Antei's munitions and troops. Jac Cotelin is onboard Taldryan's ships, and he could easily try and exert control over the throneworld as a former Grand Master. I believe the answer is clear. Attack them, show them that we are to be feared and respected, and make Duga seek for a ceasefire to establish our control. Or, if we must, joint control. Either way, do not let Taldryan have Antei exclusively."

Bloodfyre took several moments to weigh his options. At last, he turned from the bridge and spoke to his peers as he exited.

"So be it," the Consul said, a slight nod as he exited. "Make your attack, Korras."

As the Consul exited, it was obvious that the Shaevalian was leaving his Proconsul to command the assault with the Clan's Marshal and other command staff. Korras stepped over to stand beside the Marshal, Maxamillian von Oberst.

"I want them to feel pain, my friend," Korras said to the larger human.

"Taldryan may be a strong opponent, Korras," Oberst responded, "but they are not invulnerable. We know it, and what's more important, they know it. Their attitudes of superiority has done nothing to remove their doubts of their dominance. They know that, as long as Tarentum stands, we will always be an obstacle for them. Launch fighters. Prepare to attack."

Bloodfyre retreated to his private quarters onboard the Clan's flagship, and found his friend, the powerful Grand Master Kane Vader waiting for him. Bloodfyre entered his rooms, and once within, it was easy to sense that the Grand Master's powers had sealed the two of them in until he chose to release the doors. Master Kane obviously wanted privacy for this discussion.

"Lions to the front, serpents to the rear, my friend," Kane said somewhat cryptically. "You make choices that will either bring triumph or despair now, bu there is always doom and dread on the horizon. There is nothing to be won on Antei. It is a dead world."

"I do not want Antei," Bloodfyre responded, "and we are quite surrounded by both friend and foe, sometimes in the same persons. What we need, though, is to contact Tarentum's forces, and then flee. When the Vong give chase, which they surely will, we can choose a location to rendezvous with our reinforcements, and set up an ambush for the Vong. Hopefully, we can manage to turn their offensive against them."

"Be wary, Master of the Sith," the Grand Master spoke somewhat softly. "Our kind are doomed to destruction time and again. We are the Phoenix come to life. Doom and destruction are always our fate, even with the hope of rebirth ever present. Whatever survives this encounter is not worth fighting for. Be warned, my friend. I see doom for us all."

The Grand Master stood and willed the doors to part, and the chambers of the Consul opened to allow him to depart. Sith Bloodfyre was left alone to contemplate the man's words, as well as the fate of both the Brotherhood forces and, more importantly, the Clan of Tarentum.
