Aedile Report

One wall of Locke's office was dominated by a projection screen tuned to DNN's local channel. Leaning back in his chair, he relaxed and watched. His aid, Gim, stood off to one side, studying the projected screen himself.

"Welcome to another edition of the Dlarit News Network. As cleanup at San Korinar continues, we still don't have word of when public traffic will be allowed in once again. We do have the pleasure of reporting that the pirate threat has been dealt with, and even now the Dlarit Navy has stepped up security to ensure something like this never happens again. As always, the diligent people at DNN will keep you updated."

More of the same; Locke's reports were more accurate than DNN's: San Korinar would be back online, but not as soon as they thought. It would take extensive reconstruction and reinforcement efforts to make the city livable again. It would be a costly endeavor, but one grim benefit of the conflict was that most of the platform's tightly-packed population was now dead. That made Locke's stomach flop; but he intended to take full advantage of it.

Abruptly, a red light began flashing on the console of the office's one massive desk. Gim turned to look at it, then at Locke. He often wondered what went on behind those knowing old eyes.

"A broadcast from the Executive Director, it would seem."

"Yes, " Locke agreed. He pressed a button on the side of the desk, the image of the Dakhani Quaestor, Mirado Pepoi L'eonheart appearing above the desk. Gim took the moment to shut off the projection of DNN.

Mirado was in full official attire, but the background behind him was simply plain grey wall. Locke frowned; he was hoping of some hint of where Mirado was. At first he thought this had been a direct message; but now Mirado's dress registered in Locke's mind: this was an official message, patched through to every Dark Jedi of the House, as well as any Dlarit personnel who knew the true nature of their superiors.

"Greetings, my friends, " Mirado began. "A momentous time is upon us. Our Grandmaster seeks to test the factions of the Brotherhood against each other once more. We know little of this conflict, only that it will be upon us soon.

"I know that each and every one of you will succeed in the name of House Shar Dakhan and Naga Sadow. Whether it be in the cockpit of a starfighter, on the bridge of one of our star destroyers, or in personal combat on the ground, I know you will do well. House Shar Dakhan is a new House, but make no mistake: we are very good at what we do.

"My brethren; this conflict is our chance to prove our House's abilities! At the conclusion of this conflict, let no being in the Dark Brotherhood tarnish the name of House Shar Dakhan! Let no being doubt our right to exist as a House in this Brotherhood! Let none deny our presence! We are House Shar Dakhan, and we are here to stay!"

He paused a moment. No doubt that was intentional; in mess halls and lounges across Dlarit's holdings, personnel would be cheering at that very moment. Mirado's head tilted in a slight nod, as if he could see that. Locke imagined the cheering quieting at the end of that nod, each being captivated by their leader's speech, waiting for his next words.

"This is not a simple conflict, my friends. This is not a time to think only of one's self. Only together can we raise the name of our House, and claim victory for Naga Sadow. We must be at our peak, we must ensure our wingmen and squad mates are at theirs, and we must not forget our brothers and sisters, the Disciples of Marka Ragnos. We are a powerful House, but Clan Naga Sadow has two halves.

"Remember, even while you are locked in mortal combat, Naga Sadow cannot win this war without its two parts working as one. We are Clan Naga Sadow! I have seen our victory, and it is at hand!

"For Sadow!" Mirado paused. "For Sadow! For Sadow!" He repeated the words a few more times. Personnel across the system would be chanting those simple two words, their blood boiling with the eagerness to prove themselves and elevate their House and Clan above all others.

The image of Mirado winked out, leaving only a floating image of the twin blue stylized lightning strikes that made up the Dakhani emblem. Locke and Gim shared a nod, then they spoke together in one calm, level voice: "For Sadow."

The 10th Great Jedi War will soon be upon us. It begins September 25th. For those of you who have never experienced one before, the Great Jedi War will be a conflict involving the entire Dark Brotherhood, pitting the Clans and Independent Houses against each other. Our Dark Council keeps the intricacies of this event a secret until the day it begins. However, there are some things we know. It will be four weeks. It will involve competitions of every type. One Clan or Independent House will emerge above the others and be recognized as the best in the Brotherhood. There will be opportunities to win rare awards, such as the various Novae. Seals will be awarded just for participating in events, and each of these is worth five prestige. You might wonder: what is that prestige number for?

Aside from an indication of your participation and standing among your fellow members, that number will factor into the Possessions system once it is released. Possessions will include everything from personal ships to various weapons. Simply put, participating in more Great Jedi War events leads to more Seals, which leads to more Prestige, which gives you more buying power when the system is released.

I hope you will all participate in this War. The Dark Council puts a lot of work into it and its events, beginning untold of months before now. It is a chance not only for personal recognition, but for you and your fellow Sadowans to fight together for the glory and honor of the entire Clan.

Closer to home, there has been a change in positions in the Clan. We gained a new Proconsul a few weeks ago: Bob Sadow.

I'd also like to publicly congratulate Lynyrd Pepoi on the birth of his new daughter. Due to his obligations in real life, he has stepped down as Rollmaster of the Clan. In his place, Teu Pepoi has taken over the job. In her absence, Jeric Cyrin has risen to the place of Quaestor of our sister House, Marka Ragnos.

Closing Pandora's Box ended awhile back. It went well. Tiberius di Cloud was the overall victor of the event, but our House had a good showing. I'm proud of all of you who participated, and I hope you enjoyed it. If you have any feedback, negative or positive, shoot me an email at [Log in to view e-mail addresses]. I want to hear about it.

Due to the proximity of Closing Pandora's Box and the Great Jedi War, we've chosen to leave some breathing room between the two. As such, we have been quiet. Our Clan Summit (Methyas, Bob, Mirado, and Teu) have been working on a co-op event with our allies in Taldryan, but due to the Great Jedi War, that event has been postponed until after the War. Expect to hear more about it once the War has come to a close. Additionally, once things have settled down, Mirado and I will be working on events and competitions that will allow our membership as a whole to further develop our House's backstory, as I mentioned in my previous report.

I'd like to welcome Reverend Killian, Jedidiah, Rune Dameer, Kekoa Crimson, Badokon, Bonda Daade and Fulgore to the House, and congratulate Rune, Kekoa, and Bonda on passing the Test of Lore. You've gotten past that first, significant hurdle on your path to becoming a Dark Jedi Knight. Keep it up!

We'e been doing a great job this month guys. Keep up the awesome work!

This month, Macron was a shining example of participation. Leading the way among Dakhani in Closing Pandora's Box, Macron placed 2nd in the event, earning five Crescents and a Dark Cross for his efforts. He also placed in a Brotherhood-wide competition and continued to participate in our Clan Run-on at the same time. Macron is a veteran member, and still going strong. Good job Macron!

At the moment, we have a few key competitions in play to give you something to do if you're getting anxious for the Great Jedi War.
