Clan Naga Sadow Rollmaster Report - July 12, 2015

header

Dark Greetings Naga Sadow,

Always a pleasure to be speaking to you all! It's been a relatively quiet month, competition wise, but that doesn't mean we all haven't been busy! I've had the pleasure of watching many of you demonstrate a tenacious activity in your chosen medium! Whether that be gaming, the ACC (my favourite), or just club-wide competitions, you all have risen to the occasion!

Keep this stuff up, and I won't have any Journeymen left to talk about. That would be terrible, on the one hand, 'cause that means there is no more future (and as such, that won't happen), but it is amazing to see nonetheless! Keep doing you, and good things will happen for each of you!

Turn your eyes to the front page, and you will see many exciting things! The Seneschal is coding away, as always, and progress is being made on many changes! Paths are growing closer, and Character Sheets 2.0 is nearing its next release! EXCITING STUFF!

All right, caffeine induced hype out of the way, let's do this thing!

Master-Student Program

As always I need to plug this. It is the lifeblood of our system. As new members, you can be paired with an experienced member who has been right where you are now, and made it out to the other side. Use their experience, it is freely given, and you just might make a new friend!

Here is the official form for the Master-Student Program to show your interest as a master, or a student.

Click me, for I am important and flashy and stuff... Okay, I'm important for setting up pairings!

Competitions

My competition, More Than Words - #2 begins tomorrow, and it is super easy. Get your participation in while you can!

Inarya will be hosting Tuesday Night Trivia again, so be sure to check it out! Easy participation and new knowledge to be had!

Then, we got the new nifty Star Wars app that is, unfortunately, region locked right now... But there is this competition going on that you can check out!

Finally, in about two days, there is a pretty easy (read as: Unity game) competition starting on the 14th, which can be found over here.

This isn't everything that is available, however, and you can find the full list right here

Special Recognition

I'd like to draw attention to Ingram Thorpe for a minute of your time. This guy is new to us and is doing a fantastic job so far. Not only does he pop his head into telegram, keeping in touch with the Clan proper outside of IRC, but he has been working steadily towards his goal of Knighthood, and has taken part in the Master/Student program. I love that! Using all the tools available to better yourself!

Keep it up Ingram, and I look forward to your eventual knighting.

Getting To Know The Clan

Introducing Sanguinius Tsucyra Entar - Click for his Wiki

Greetings, Jedi Scum!

This isn't a trap of some kind, right?

Nonsense! Balderdash! Such things are beneath the honour of one such as I!

Honour? You eat people, as I recall.

Slip up one time — get caught — and no one lets you forget it...

You should really contemplate taking control of your emotions, I could teach you?

Yeah... I'm a perfectly, if not well, adjusted individual and I like me just the weird I am, thank you very much! So, before we get into an ideological debate that will surely spiral into name calling and discussion of our favourite flavor of Force shades, can you tell me quickly what brought you to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood?

I came to the DB through a friend I had made in a text based morph called Stargatewars. He recruited me across and I ended up in Plagueis just in time for the 9th GJW.

I see, I see... Plagueis, eh? Quite interesting, and it's cool to find out the different origins so many of us have. As a member of Summit, what kind of mindset do you think a member should be in when considering making that jump into leadership?

The best mindset a member should have is, how can I serve the Clan/House/Team/Individual Members. Leadership is about serving the members, they're your boss and your clients. Treat them well, give them stuff to do, listen to them and most of all, never think you are better than them simply because you're in a position.

That is solid advice, and one I would hazard should be taken to heart no matter what level of leadership one may reach. At the end of the day, we are the content creators and our members are the consumers. If they ain't happy, nobody is gonna be happy. Moving on a touch, how would you describe your character and his experiences to someone else that was hoping to portray them in fiction?

My character is a complex one, having suffered deeply during his time as Quaestor of Galeres. He abhors needless deaths and tries to exhort his fellows in behaving as paragons of the living Force. He truly believes that he was sent to Naga Sadow for a reason. He isn't sure what that reason is yet, but he hopes the Force will reveal it to him. While he abhors indiscriminate killing, he is no pushover and will strive to defend the innocent.

For more info, hit me up and I can go into more detail.

I'm sure you're the heart of the party at all the gatherings! I mean, Maelous can't keep his eyes off you! Rawr... Though it is kind of in a "I want to devour your soul" kind of way... Yeah, may want to keep an eye on that one. But still, you're good people and that ain't terrible, just different! So, if you had to pick one thing in your DJB career that is your "oh wow, my character is awesome" factor, what would it be?

For me, it would be when I fought in the 9th GJW as a Protector, that war got me to Dark Jedi Knight. I saw my character battered, weary and injured and yet I thought he was awesome, an average guy who refused to give up despite the odds. You don't have to be a Dark Jedi Master to be awesome.

This is true, each of us has the capacity for our own moments of awesome. Finally, what sort of advice would you give to any newcomers to the Clan?

The first and best piece of advice? Join in. Join us on irc and telegram. Hit us up over email. Introduce yourself. We're always eager to have new people join us and become part of the family. You'll never know if you'll form friendships like Cethgus and I. Brothers from another mother!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I have forged many friendships on here, all because I didn't stay in my own introverted bubble (I love my introverted bubble) and forced myself to be seen. I don't regret it at all, though I come across a hell of a lot more extroverted as a result. Thank you for your time, Sang, and try not to get assassinated on your way back to your office!

If any of you reading this would like to see a specific member up here, or volunteer yourself, please don't hesitate to reach out and we'll keep this going… Or I'm going to pick someone myself, and I will hunt them down wherever they may hide.

Conclusion

Might as well rename this section to my mantra, 'cause it isn't ever going to change:

This is a great place to be, and the members are what make it that way. You guys can all be a part of that going forward, if you choose to be. Myself and all the other veteran members of the clan are here to help, most of us at any time, so all you need to do is ask.

Stay classy, gang, and I look forward to speaking with you again!
