CNS Rollmaster Report #4: Like Sands in the Hourglass

header

Hello and welcome to yet another Rollmaster Report for Clan Naga Sadow boys and girls. I am sure you all are more than aware that we are coming up on the closing days of the Sands of Time event. I hope you all have enjoyed it so far, despite a few bumps in the road considering the grading of the joint fiction.

Without any further ado, let's get into the meet of January/February report!

News and Happenings Across the Brotherhood

As you can see above, there are lots of opportunities for leadership across the Brotherhood at large. Now, I will be the first to tell you that I do not relish losing members to other Clans- I am a jealous Rollmaster- but for those of you who want to make waves and effect change, I encourage you to seek out opportunities as you will. I have been fortunate enough to get my experiences through work on the Wiki, through my work as a Professor in the Shadow Academy, as a BTL, an Aedile, and now as a Rollmaster. Leadership experiences do not always necessitate your leaving your home Clan, but I would be wanton in my duty if I did not point out these opportunities to my beloved members. If you want to take a shot at it, put in applications, work hard, hope for the best, and eventually your hard work will be recognized!

Master-Student Program

I have hit on this during each report. The Master-Student program can be very rewarding for both lower-ranked members and our ”older” members. I can speak from experience that my former Master and my then-Rollmaster and Quaestor all worked to make my early days in Clan Naga Sadow and Shar Dakhan very enjoyable. The master-apprentice system is the lifeblood of our system. New members can be paired with an experienced member who has been right where they are at now. Our Knights, Equites and Elders went through that crucible and made it out to the other side. I urge our pre-JM4 members to use their experience, freely given to help, and you just might make a new friend!

If you are interested in taking part as either Master or Student, click this handy link and fill out the form. As openings become available, your friendly, neighborhood Rollmaster will pair members up. It is a tad more detailed than the previous iterations of the form, but this just helps my office to match members together better, so no fear!

Competitions

Lemme say it again: Sands of Time. There are a number of competitions that are folded in below that. It is not too late, go out and do the stuff!

What, that isn't enough for you? Well, there are a number of other competitions going on beyond the staple Galaxy of Heroes comps, the Quarterly Gaming Challenges, Gorefest and the 1st Annual Flash Gaming series. You can write about finding yourself aboard the Enterprise, lend an ear to try a different kind of trivia comp, write about new years traditions, participate in some more trivia about forging of weapons, help bolster the Dark Side's cookie reserves, try completing the Master At Arms' latest puzzle competition, help create some propoganda, take part in some Herald staff activities, write about your loyaltiesor engage in a bit of power fantasy. The Fist is also running a Test run to consider Titanfall2 and Star Wars Force Arena as official platforms, so I encourage you to take part.

These are not enough for you? Be sure to check out the main competitions page for yourself. It is changing far more regularly than I put out reports, so I would encourage you to check it regularly, or risk missing a fun opportunity. Seriously. Click here. Do it. Do it now.

Sands of Time (final results closing soon!)

stats of Phase 1 sands of time

As you can see above, the majority of the activity in Sands of Time has come from House Marka Ragnos. Still many competitions are split roughly half and half between Shar Dakhan and Marka Ragnos, with Locke and Sang messing up my statistics by taking part too. (I kid, don't crack the whip too hard, Sang!) Both Battle Teams are making a good representation, but I have to hand it to Night Hawks for representing in particular! I assume this is in part due to the influence of Darkhawk, and I hope the team will keep it up!

That is not to say that I am discouraged by the participation of House Shar Dakhan at all. Actually, when looking at the statistics section of the competition, I can see that almost 33%- or a third- of the Clan is taking part in Sands of Time. Given how House Shar Dakhan has dominated in the past, it is encouraging to see HMR doing so well in the event. Though I would be lying if I didn't say I hope that Shar Dakhan will still step up participation.

This knowledge has given me a bit of insight into what events work for Clan Naga Sadow. Hopefully, we will continue to craft more events and figure what works well for our members, and gives us a wider range of participation. Hopefully, our Journeyman will see events like Sands of Time as an excellent opportunity to participate and start ticking off the boxes in promotion requirements for the early Noviate and Journeyman ranks.

For those who have not taken part yet, what are you doing? Click this link and take part as events take your interest. Participation is a big part of how we find out what kind of events our members want to see!

Phase One is almost closed out due to some grading shenanigans (my apologies) and shortly after we should have Phase Two and the main comp graded. Hurry up and take part, though. The event ends on February 7th!

Naga Sadow Wiki Improvement Program

In the coming weeks, I will be reaching out to members and initiating a six-month long effort to bring all of Clan Naga Sadow's wiki pages up to date. This is going to be a big undertaking. If any of you want to take part, then just contact me at [Log in to view e-mail addresses] or on Telegram and I will be glad to give you things to do. These sorts of things also give me a chance to recognize members for work, not to mention you will gain the appreciation of your Rollmaster! More details will come to reports as we get work done, so keep watching future reports for more!

TLDR;points of interest

  • positions available throughout the Brotherhood

  • lots of opportunities for activity or projects

  • Naga Sadow Wiki Update will be happening soon!

  • some interesting statistics concerning Sands of Time

  • Sands of Time ending soon

Closing remarks

As always, there are exciting new things going on in the background. The Voice is reportedly working on a new fiction update to be released "soon" so keep your eyes open. This could be the update that reflects Clan Naga Sadow's part in the new storyline.

There are always things going on, and there is no reason not to take part. Sometimes participation can mean "easy" crescents, but more importanly, taking part in competitions is always better than just taking up a place on the roster.

Lacking an event you want to see? Contact myself and the rest of the Clan Summit, and we can consider adding a new event/competition so that you all have even more stuff you can do.

As always, remember the Dark Brotherhood is a great place to be. This is because of you all! You all make this place a great place to come back to at the end of the day. All you have to do is to take part. Look to myself, to Sang or Locke, your respective Quaestors and Aediles, or even your Battle Team leaders- we are all here for you. If you need help, somebody to talk to, or whatever feel free to contact me as ever on Telegram (@DJB_Benny) or via my email [Log in to view e-mail addresses].

We are moving forward to a Great Jedi War in the summer. This will be my first, and I hope that we can see a very strong showing from Clan Naga Sadow. Hell, if we have a strong enough showing we may even see our Clan placing among one the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Clan. No question, that would be awesome but we would also need to put up a hell of a strong showing. That isn't to say that I don't believe you all can do it, but we would have to really fight for it. As I have said many times, believe in yourselves as I believe in you. Reach for the stars, fight tooth and nail, and keep being awesome in everything you do Naga Sadow.

These things are more than just pixels on a screen, or stories in imaginations. Our activities here are, for our characters, the days of our lives. Let's make them wonderful, together. Each of us can take away experiences both in an out of character, which can become well-cherished memories!
