Fist Report #14
Message from the Fist
Good evening, DJB. Short report for this month, as I just returned from a field exercise and have a few RL things to focus on. Going to cover a couple topics related to the ongoing GJW gaming competitions, initial support for Battlefront 2, and dish out some overdue PoBs.
GJW Bracket Events
The main brackets are nearly complete. The Jedi Academy novae matches have already been played, and the Heroes of the Storm 2v2 bracket is awaiting one final match.
As I stated in my last GJW Gaming Update, there are two sub brackets for both Jedi Academy and Heroes of the Storm. Those brackets will determine 5-8th place and 9-10th place for each competition. As a reminder, while the top three in each event earn novae, placement matters for the top 10. You get points. Those points help your clans.
We are down to the final six days of the GJW, and the placement brackets are relatively stagnant. I expect all members in those brackets to actively attempt to contact your opponents. Clan leaders have already been notified of this issue. November 20th is the absolute last day to play your matches. I will not allow any extensions beyond the confines of the GJW parent competition.

Star Wars Battlefront 2
The newest addition to EA’s Star Wars game library is here! As promised, BF2 will have launch day support. Just like Destiny 2, this will be a progressive launch. We have five activities available for launch day support, other events and Pendant of Blood requirements will follow after a few weeks of seeing everything the game has to offer.
Starting out, here’s the current plan for supported activities. These will not be live until the official launch day. In the interest of fairness, any activities played prior to 17 November (actual launch, not pre-order launch) are not allowed for submission:
Blast (10v10 Deathmatch): Awards 2 CF per Match (based off average of 10 minute matches)
Heroes vs Villains (4v4 Using Hero Characters): Awards 2 CF per match (averages 10 minutes)
Strike (8v8 Objective based, similar to Overwatch): Awards 2 CF (time average is 10-15 minutes)
Starfighter Assault (12 v 12 Fighter mode, similar to BF1): Awards 2 CF per match (time average is 10-15 minutes)
Galactic Assault (20 v 20 battles with multiple objectives): Awards 3 CF per match (time Average is 15 minutes)
Screenshot method is the exact same as Battlefront 1 (2015 release, not the really old one). You have to pay attention, or you will miss it. Just like Battlefront 1, you have to actively play (play the full match and register at least one kill) in order to qualify for Clusters of Fire. All the rules will be on the wiki sometime this weekend, once I have a chance to sit down and add it.
Also, these values are subject to change in the interest of balancing. All SW games have a 50 CF/CE cap per day.
No. I am not going to run an uncapped double cluster Starfighter Assault competition.
Seriously...you can get DVT and bedsores from the nonsense you all pulled two years ago.
Admin and Policy Reminders
Fist Supplemental 11.1 - Teamspeak is out. Discord is the official DJB voice server.
Fist Supplemental 11.3 - Updates to the RoC and Wiki. The T1/T2 game delineation has been removed. All games are eligible for use during GJWs and Vendettas.
Gifs, stickers, images, charity solicitations, and being a jerk are all banned from DB Gaming. The Gif, Sticker, and image ban is non-negotiable. I stated in this news post what the rules of engagement were. If you post something that you aren’t supposed to, I’ll simply delete it. If you do it again, I’ll restrict your posting ability to text only. It’s that simple.
The staff has 24 hours from the time you submit gaming activity to approve it. If your submission has been sitting for longer than that, there is a problem. If it hasn’t, there is no problem. The staff do their best to process gaming submissions as quickly as possible, but they are real people with real lives. I do not expect them to sit behind a computer processing gaming submissions all day, and neither should any of you.
Solo submissions are never acceptable for Clusters of Earth/Fire. I will reject any that come in. You must play with at least one other DB member, no exceptions. This is not changing any time in the near (or far) future.
Reminder: Feel free to run Gaming competitions DB wide. Gaming is a slightly different community, and is one of the few that consistently brings club members together outside of the competitive environment. Most of the people I currently game are all in different clans. By opening up your event DB-wide, you increase the pool of possible participants, which could allow for a crescent upgrade!
Reminder: While I sincerely appreciate having proposals sent to me via telegram, please email the staff list (email is at the bottom of this report). I ask that your House and Clan leadership take a look at your proposals before you send them up. This isn’t to add a layer of bureaucracy, it’s because I’m sure they’d like to know how you are trying to help the club improve...helps with award and promotion recommendations and all that. Feel free to cc them on your email to me and my staff.

1) Go play your matches
2) No, seriously, you are holding up an event. Go play your matches.
3) Oh hey, Battlefront 2! Or is it 4? Do the super old ones count? I don’t know.
The GJW is really interesting from this side of the fence. I can’t talk about anything in terms of results or specific participation numbers, but as a club you are all knocking it out of the park. Keep gaming, writing, drawing, and puzzling. We’ll see you all on the other side (where all the shiny Novae are)!
Oh. Isn’t there a new movie coming out soon? I think there is.
That’s pretty damn swell, too.
P.S. GO PLAY YOUR MATCHES!!!
