Hoth Aedile Report #2: Scimitars, Starfighters and Citadels

I am told that the previous report lacked gifs and a theme. My apologies for the error, so let's correct that in this one.

Introduction

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome back to your scheduled Hoth Report, and coverage of both upcoming changes and a few events still in motion. Most of this is going to be an update on clan activity, implementing changes and coverage of our ongoing clan-wide event, along with one or two opportunities. Those interested in having more of a say in how an essential asset to House Hoth develops, keep reading.

The Ships Have Been Christened

A short while ago we ran a brief competition to rename a few of our vessels. While it was agreed that a fair number of the existing squadrons and ships would retain their names (Long live the Porg Patrol!) a small number left something to be desired. The fact that a little over half of our X-Wings were listed as the Firebirds hardly helped. So, in response, we had a few of you throw out a few suggestions.

After speaking this over with others in the Summit, we eventually settled on a mixture of the following options from our various entries:

  • CR70 Corellian Corvette - Pride of Owyhyee
  • Braha'tok-class Gunship - Resolute
  • T-65B X-wing Starfighter Squadron - The Sagittarri
  • T-65B X-wing Starfighter Squadron - Kappa Squadron
  • T-65B X-wing Starfighter Squadron - The Thranta Twelve
  • T-65B X-wing Starfighter Squadron - Valkyrie Squadron
  • T-70 X-wing Starfighter Squadron - Storm Squadron

If there are fewer of your options on here than you might expect, then you have my apologies but please don’t worry. We’ll be keeping those in mind for the future, as we felt they either were more deserving of other units (especially two very nice Norse inspired ones) or just lost out to the others here. As such, they will be added to a list of potential choices for future units.

Updating the Bond Villain Lair

While updating the wikia, it came to my attention that little has been done with Hoth’s Trepus Mine base. While the continent of Trepus has a broad ecosystem, we have solid details on how Solyiat works and we even have a solid outline of the general geography, our own base of operations consists of little more than a paragraph. It’s unfortunate, as we are effectively occupying an underground base which is one step away from being a full fledged volcano lair by this point.

Because of this lack of detail, it is going to be the next big push to outline and develop what we have on hand. While we have a general skeleton and idea of what to include with this write-up, it would be wrong to lock you out of having a say in this matter. As such, we have the following competitions for your characters to get involved with liberating the resources we need and building up a few facilities:

  • Take what you can, give nothing back! - We need material, supplies and new equipment to improve our facilities. The Collective has a surplus of these abandoned items left behind on Nancora, so we need you to go in and help steal as much as you can. It’s a fiction based competition which has been left broadly defined. So, please have fun and think of what you might be able to loot from the planet.

  • Upgrading The Elaborate Underground Base - We want you to help build up and create new areas for Hoth’s base. Full details can be found within, but these can range from minor ones to assist on-site staff to major defensive fortifications. Have fun. Also, apologies for the dull name, but it was that or a reference to a terrible show.

I’ll be interested to see what you come up with for both, and please feel free to go full Dwarf Fortress with the second one.

11 Days Until The Rumble Ends

This is just a brief reminder that the Rumble Down Under is still going, with a multitude of competitions covering graphics, NPC creation and even a brief quiz on just who you are writing about. Our High Councillor’s second report has a few very useful links in it covering just who you’re writing about, and some general explanations in layman’s terms.

Apologies if this sounds cheap, but really, we only have one or two entries for each thus far. It’s an easy crescent for anyone who can devote a few minutes to a submission for each one.

The Scimitar Returns!

Yep, it’s back. While we stopped for a time, the Scimitar is back once more as a year-spanning series of monthly competitions. The first of these is well underway, and if you’re after a chance to earn an extra crescent or a few more credits, I suggest you take a look. Really, it’s an extra chance to gain a bonus on top of your current winnings and compete with those in your clan.

If you want a few more details on this - and some lore - you can read about it here.

Len Iode Asks:

What is your favorite type of music?

Apologies, but that depends entirely on the band. Most forms of metal tend to be at the top of my list, however, thank you.

Blade Asks:

Where is the Hoth meet and greet going to take place? Last year it was a bit cold at the Hoth base. What exciting fictional activities do you see coming up for Hoth? What would comprise a Hoth sushi roll?

I hear that Baime is rather nice this time of year, and there are always the Pearls of the Chosen as well.

Failing that, given the amount of geothermal energy surrounding Hoth base, I am sure we can add in some artificial hot springs at some point.

As for your second question: Apologies, that is more of Edgar's decision than mine given he is Quaestor. However, I do have a few ideas in mind for future fictions. Burn out in terms of competitions tends to be easy, and given the sheer volume of highly detailed and demanding fictions in events or from other clans, I am trying to write a few more which are open and fairly straightforward in their premise. A few other fictional ideas also include those which require creative writing, but not necessarily writing stories.

For sushi rolls, well, apologies, I would honestly need to check what fish we have on the planet at the moment. Thus far it would likely consist of a mixture of kraken and car sized crabs.

Revak Kur Asks:

When will Hoth buy a wing of T-4a Shuttles?

Once they have been modified to serve as more effective freighters to cover our logistics blindspot or are outfitted with the weapons-grade stupidity that Rebels gave us with that B-Wing prototype.

Apologies, really though, if you seriously want one then feel free to message me with a few good reasons as to why they might benefit us and we can go from there.
