DRIP-DROP

A harsh and icy wind curled through from the roof, whipping across the floor of the cave and around the trapped members of the House. The pitter-patter of sea water was a deathly reminder that their lives were in the balance, whether to die from drowning or hypothermia, it was their choice. Together with the Force, Delak and Reiden tried to levitate and screw a boulder into the gap, their willpower straining with beads of sweat. Their strength kept them warm, it kept them alive. Arthadonis paced back and forth, his anger and fury contained for now, until he stepped on the glowing mushrooms that Drake. The teal-haired Human stared up into the Kaleesh’s eyes and grumbled, it wasn’t worth the effort.

Huddled together by the loose rubble of the former cave tunnel sat Dek, Sparky, Kyo and Ulfsark. The group shivering and rubbing their arms, while Kyo begin to create a campfire. With several small twigs made into a pile, he took a single twig, placed cloth from his robe around another twig and started twisting the stalk with his palms. The longer he spun the twig, the more his hands lost their sense of touch. His torch lodged into his mouth to see what he is doing, while the others leaned from their position to grab more twigs and bits they could muster.

“Hurry up will you, I’m freezing!” Said Dek, his teeth chattering as his hands viciously rubbed his arms. Kyo simply stopped and glared into Dek’s ungrateful expression.

“Oh yeah sure, like your words are going to rally my hands into retrieving their sensitivity and instantly set ablaze.” The Knight said with a venomous spit. Sparky, the Chiss who seemed to be more or less bearable to the cold, shuffled forward and dropped more sticks.

“Can’t you just use the Force to make a fire? Excite the molecules and poof.” His hands burst out like an explosion, gesturing a fire bomb of sorts. Kyo gave him the same glare as Dek, and groaned.

“That’s not how the Force works! Here, I give you with you and your pessimistic opinions. You do it!” Kyo shouted as he shoved the twigs to Dek, then stood and stormed off to Delak. Sighing heavily, the Human joined to aid. Lifting his arms and reaching out with the Force, he concentrated and grabbed onto the boulder. Twisting the stone clock-wise and up, the trip heard the scraping of ice onto stone and the boulder became perfectly lodged and trapped. Delak exhaled and began to catch his breath again, gritting his teeth as he felt the strain his cybernetic arm on his socket. Kyo came over and nodded as a greeting.

“Implant giving you problems?” He said to his leader, the Human simply nodded and sighed.

“Have you seen him?” Delak asked, but Kyo shook his head and turned to the end of the cave. Filled with darkness and the sound of trickling water, an ancient chant echoed from the shadows, of foreign words that Kyo could not understand. Worried and feeling anger bubbling from the void of the cave, the Knight grew curious and slowly walked closer. Delak quickly followed behind, their boots clinking, but softly on the cold rock floor. The chanting grew in volume as they sneaked closer, their eyes becoming familiar with the darkness, as they made out a figure. Hunched over the rubble and rocking back a forth, the small being chanted more and more, which seemed to be his native tongue. Through bravery and courage, Delak slowly reached forward with his mechanical hand and softly tapped the shoulder of the being.

“Sir? Are you okay?” He mustered up, he was clear and concise. The chanting stopped as silent fell into the cave, then the hunched being slowly turned and stood silent. Kyo stepped back into a defensive pose, yanking his lightsaber up and igniting it to life. Through the light, the duo could see the suffering and horror of the sentient beast before them. Glaring into their eyes with his own, blood-shot and twitchy, his mouth frothed and panted as his white fangs were bared and bloody. Bony, clawed and orange hands became edgy as they wanted to reach for Delak’s, but they became reluctant. Delak tried again.

“Quaestor Lexiconus, are you with us?” The Quarren slowly licked his lips, then gave them a soft nod. Delak took his hand and nodded back, he was glad that his superior was finally coming back. But then he began to chuckle, a cold and manic chuckle. Delak focused on Lexiconus and frowned, wondering what the joke was. Kyo’s eyes darted between the two men, noticing as Delak held his lightsaber very tightly, while Lexiconus slid his fingers across the metal of his own. The tension was then broken, as the Quarren finally spat out husky words.

“I will find Darth Fallax, I will storm into his palace. I will crush, cripple and flay every disciple at his command. I will blow his throne room walls sky-high, and when I find him on that undeserved throne. I will dominate him, and I shall devour him!”

Introductions

Good day Imperials, and welcome to the November Edition of the House Imperium report. With Operation Starfall official over and graded, we can now begin on adventuring through development of our characters and the Empire. As well as take a breather, of course. But wait, we’re stuck in a cave! Times are tough! You’re toes are numb and you’re shivering down to your knocking knees! The creepy squid-doctor is offering you mushrooms! What do you do? Well let’s look into the fiction the Consul wrote for us, tear it apart and dissect each bit.

Thumb-tacles up!

Clan News

Firstly, let’s give you the fiction entirely in its PDF & Forum as this will help you understand what we are talking about. Plus, variety is the spice of life, so.

As we can see from the fiction, there’s a notable group of members drinking and having a peaceful time in Sith-face Joe’s, Landon joked about have genetically altered beasts as our next foe. The Emperor and Eli heard this, because they’re ALWAYS WATCHING. Then a new and wild planet is brought to our attention; the inhospitable world of Aesirus. Storms are a daily occurrence, the continents can sink into the oceans whenever they randomly please and life does not survive here, no matter how hard it tries. It is safe to say this is not like the deserts of Geonosis or Hoth, this place is really dangerous. So what does this have to do with us and the Emperor’s goals?

Well, we have to bear in mind that at this moment, the Emperor isn’t fully in control of himself anymore, this new enemy is. A Dark Lord of the Sith, named Darth Fallax of the New Dawn Order. Representing an enemy we cannot see, an enemy we cannot feel but someone who is powerful enough to even overcome the mind of a strong and worthy Elder, Darth Fallax is to be reckoned with. And he chose this planet, not Eli or Xen, in order to do one job. To trap Force Sensitive and others trained in combat.

His plans to plant bombs, to mimic an earthquake, to delay the Sorosuub miners from escaping and to even have his System Moff on the planet, was all a ruse to get us in one place. It was planned from the beginning, that his disciples should take over. So, now that we know what his plan was, let’s take a look the immediate problem.

How do we get out?

Well, if you address yourself to Xen’s new competition, you can write yourself doing this lethal mission. Named the Journey Home the Consul and Proconsul wants us to write in 500 words or more, how we escape this death trap and smuggle ourselves back into the Cocytus System. It will not be easy, and most of us are not built to perform illegal or covert activities coughmyselfincludedcough, but we should try anyway. How else can we practice our writing and improve?

But then what happens if we make it back to Judecca, Caina and Ohmen City? How do we defeat this usurper of the throne? Our lovely duo of destruction have answered that too! Operation: Midnight!! (Soon ™)

So maybe not in the next week or so, but it is on the horizon that we get our own back, worry not Imperials. Darth Fallax will feel the sting of the Empire’s sword. I will link the Consul’s report below, so you can get a taste of what is happening and who won in Starfall.

Final Thoughts

Jorm asks: considering that Xen just got corrupted and turned against the Houses, proving (again) that this is very much possible, how do you see Imperium's stance develop in fiction?

Lexic: In perspective of the house as a whole, I can see some members feeling betrayed by their leader, some feeling lost and cast out of an Empire they swore to and protected. I also see others feeling denial, that the Emperor really hasn’t gone insane and is still out there, captured or worse. This would be a great time to demonstrate the might of the Empire’s military power, and serve the purpose of training our members to be better than themselves and make the character they dreamed of. In a way, fictionally, this is a rebellion but also a liberation. A demonstration of loyalty to the Emperor and also against him. It is a thin line to walk, but this is a direction in story that we haven’t encountered for awhile.

Kylex asks: Do you praise the sun?

Lexic:

Solaire

SUN BE PRASIN’!

Kylex asks: Do androids dream of electric memes?

Lexic:

Androids Dream

Ooooooor...electric sheep? :P

Delak asks: What type of storyline do you see us going in Imperium’s House story?

Lexic: Hmm, this is a tricky question and deserves full explanation. So, representing the sword of the Cocytus Empire, who are the last remnants of the first Galactic Empire, we operate with offensive and defensive strategies against all threats internal and external. While this means we would willingly protect our Empire from enemies such as other Clans, pirates and Invading Order Zealots, we would also protect the Empire from ourselves. Therefore, because our home is in danger and requires some elbow grease and thought to retrieve back, it should be our story to now make a strategy, gather our allies to aid us and begin a counter-attack against the New Dawn Order, in an effort to reclaim our home. You could say this is like a Thorin Oakenshield against Smaug type situation, but it’ll be a good story to write with you guys. I know it!

Blade asks: Xen was captured by a thing. Why aren’t you saving him?

Lexic: Still stuck in this wet, cold and dark cave. Gimme like, ten minutes to put my underwear on the outside.

Lithar asks: Would you like an epic fight against a Giant Galactic Squid?

Lexic: I mean, I would love to subdue and capture this glorious beauty of the cephalopod race, place it into the Judeccan oceans and call it Father, but it won’t happen. Besides, Lexiconus doesn’t fight, dude. C’mon! :P

Archangel asks: Who is your favourite person in the DB and why is it Archangel?

Lexic: Without a doubt, it’s the South African Shaevalian with an ego problem! But I just like watching Australia beat his team in the Tests! ^^

Xen’Mordin aka Darth Fallax aka our newest baddie asks: How are you enjoying life in the cave?

Lexic: Um, well…

Tom Bat

Jorm asks: How do you ensure maximum freshness? You don’t want to give Blade food poisoning after all.

Lexic: Well, maybe that was my plan all along, buddy? ;D

From now on I’m going to keep this diagram here for you, in the hopes that you read it and give me some feedback. Speaking of, I sent an email out containing a survey to all House, if you could kindly take five minutes of your time to say something that praises the house or is one of your concerns about the house, I will read it and try my best to fix it.

Until next time folks! Have a good November!
