A Message from the Quaestor

Hey guys, I wanted to start this report with an apology. I am sorry for how late this report is and for my absence in the past month. I have had some personal and health issues come up over the past month and it had a really negative impact on my ability to DJB and I dropped the ball as Quaestor. I am sorry for that.

I want to give a huge thank you to Lucine Vasano, who really stepped up in my absence. She is phenomenal guys, just know that. Thank you fire lady. You’ve proven to be my most trusted and welcomed summit partner and I appreciate you.

A Message from the Aedile

Hello, darlings! As you no doubt have noticed, the summer lull is over! Sins IV has officially started, and there is also an ACC Tournament to try. It is a great time to check out areas of the club that you might not be quite as familiar with, so get out there and Do All The Things!

I know from talking to all of you that RL is extremely busy right now. Believe me, I can relate. But keep in mind that character promotions are directly related to participation in club activities. Competitions and tournaments are a great way to accrue shinies and get yourself closer to the coveted Elder status, while doing activities that you already enjoy. After all, we all need a way to unwind from the hectic demands of everyday life. So get out there, and see what’s available!

Ask the Deadly Duo

• Zujenia asks a couple:

  • I wasn't going to ask, but now I'm concerned and weary some drastic plan is at foot. What rash? Is Rhylance responsible? Is this his means of keeping us in line?
    • Rhylance: In this rare instance I am innocent of all charges and I can help you in the back with that rash if you’d like.
    • Lucine: I certainly do not have a rash. But I can understand how the first impulse would be to blame Rhylance. I assure you, darling, I have been spending a lot of time with him recently, and can say with near certainty that he is not behind any rashes you might have.
  • Kordath asks:
  • How heartbroken is Lucine over the happenings in Estle City right now?
    • Rhylance: She hasn’t been seen for days due to her grief. I’ve heard noise complaints from her neighbors, of which im sure is caused by her obvious loud crying.
    • Lucine: Oh, absolutely heartbroken, darling. I am weeping bitter tears as we speak. Really, I am.

• The Log asks a bunch!:

  • How is HQD going to address the new PVP design for GMRG? Any plans go try and drive regular PVP gaming among your folks?
    • Rhylance: I have a small level in the current gaming sphere, but with this new design I feel i should work at opening myself up more and trying to push some of our members into some more gaming activity. Especially for free gaming.
    • Lucine: I think this is an interesting change. On a personal level, it has made me want to look into the gaming side of the DB more, and I would not be averse to featuring gaming more heavily in competitions.
  • Any thoughts on how to drive competitive desire to do better in competitions beyond just participation?
    • Rhylance: I find myself more competitive when there is something I’m working towards, so helping my members set goals for themselves may work to drive some competitiveness.
    • Lucine: So, I feel like I could write a dissertation on this, but I will try to be brief, for the sanity of our readers. I think that those running competitions and events have some responsibility to make sure that the members are given a good reason to participate. It could be an intriguing storyline, or the opportunity to win bragging rights, or even because they are passionate about making sure that their clan does well. When it comes right down to it, everyone competes for a different reason, and so it is important to offer sufficient impetus to as many people as possible.
  • What is in HQD's near future beyond Sins? Any specific direction the House is going in? What would draw a new member to the directions?
    • Rhylance: The story will largely be driven by member interest, participation, and activity. We are a house of criminals so I want to work that angle more and maybe become an Oceans 11(12,13,8) of the DJB.
    • Lucine: HQD is in the early stages of initiating a storyline that will be heavily influenced by decisions and actions of its members. Fictionally, we are hoping to expand the House’s influence on a galactic scale while utilizing as much member input as possible. I am hoping the overall effect is to use collective storytelling to encourage participation and engagement. Also, there will be space gangsters.

• Lee asks quite a few as well!:

  • What is the best way to burn a body in space?
    • Rhylance: Dropping the body into a star seems helpful for this.
    • Lucine: I am afraid that is not really my purview. But I do know someone who might be able to help...
  • Did you mean literal burning questions?
    • Rhylance: we literally didn’t mean that.
    • Lucine: Actually, I meant figurative burning questions.
  • Favorite accelerant?
    • Rhylance: Soda pop. Fight me on it, lol.
    • Lucine: Toaster.
  • What is the last thing your character burned?
    • Rhylance: My ACC opponent. Got to close to my fear gasses initial exposure to air.
    • Lucine: The figurative bridge between Kordath and myself. It is unlikely that relationship will ever be mended. I mean, you can only try to kill someone so many times.
  • Has your character ever been accused and/or convicted of arson?
    • Rhylance: Accused? No. Convicted? No. Rhylance covers his tracks fairly well, and the chemicals he uses to burn things burn hot enough to destroy physical evidence.
    • Lucine: Accused? Yes. Convicted? No. People invariably end up changing their minds about charging me.

• Eilen asks:

  • "Fashion? So, uh, if a hypothetical ferret found herself on a date, hypothetically of course, what would be good to wear? Should I-- er, she, wear a dress? Is it okay to wear the same dress over and over if you only have one? Kay thanks! Eheh"
    • Rhylance: I see no problem with wearing an outfit multiple times, especially when it suits you so well.
    • Lucine: Oh dear. There are a number of factors to help determine what a hypothetical ferret would wear, such as time of day, how many dates the ferret has already had, and what their intentions are for the evening. Fortunately, I do offer private consultations!

• Atra asks:

  • Why is Rhylance not dead yet? And if no good reason is offered, I would like to make a suggestion that it occur post haste. Discuss.
    • Rhylance: I will never die Atra, and if I do, I will just keep coming back!!!! You will never be rid of me!!!!
    • Lucine: I would imagine he is not dead yet because no one has succeeded in killing him. Your suggestion has been noted, however, and will be afforded the appropriate amount of consideration.
