House Shar Dakhan Aedile Update - May 30th, 2014

House Shar Dakhan Aedile Update

Hey guys, this is sort of like a mini-report to go between my major ones. I'll still wait till next month for a comprehensive report, but so much has been going on lately that I wanted to give you guys a little official update.

Mainly, I'm going to talk about the active competitions and story going on within the Clan right now and touch on a couple of other things.

Change in Clan leadership.

First up, Xanos has stepped down from Proconsul due to that epic enemy of every hard working Dark Jedi ever: real life. I'm pretty sure he's not going to leave, because Goat never leaves. Which is awesome, because he's really great to have around. If you ever need advice on how to do something, or want a brief (ha!) history on something related to the Clan, he's a good guy to ask.

(And you thought stepping down would get you out of that!)

As you've probably noticed, Macron has stepped up to replace Xanos. It's kind of fitting, because Mac was the old Goat's apprentice back in the day (I think? That was like ten years ago). Macron has already been super active, spearheading the next thing on our list.

Major Fictional Changes

For awhile now, we've been this sort of super secretive criminal organization where we manipulated things from the shadows without ruling in the open.

Well, that's more or less open now.

If you read Macron's fiction update that showed Malik's speech to the system, or one of the other emails about it, you have have heard of the Orian Assembly.

This is a new, system-wide government. On the surface, it's a democracy, with each major area in the system having representation. So, fictionally, the people of the Orian System are being brought into this fledging nation state and told that they'll have fair representation and a whole slew of rights and benefits.

However, we're stil Dark Jedi, and if Dark Jedi are good at one thing, it's seizing power power. So while we're now in a democratic government, we're also manipulating it from the inside, so the members of Clan Naga Sadow hold the real power in the 'Assembly. In fact, our Summit members are some of the most prominent leaders of the new government, while our members are generally important to the success of the new regime.

That's where all of you guys come in. You don't have to be a politician, a soldier, or a criminal. You can be whatever you want to be.

So Malik, as Consul, is the head of the new government, and it filters down from there.

But there's even more to it than that. As Macron noted in his emails, this government appears to be a democracy, but is actually a stratocracy, which is a goverment headed by the military. This means that the Warhost has a very active and influential role in the new government, with you guys, our members and Dark Jedi, are at the forefront of that. However, unlike a regular stratocracy, most of our citizens don't know that we are a part of the military or that it holds so much influence. Instead, they see us as regular politicians. Thus, we have a sort of covert stratocracy masquerading as a plain old democracy.

Kind of like hiding in plain site. This concept is quite unique from what the other units are doing and it's going to open up a lot of possibilities for CNS in the future. For now, our first step is solidifying our hold on the system.

We're going to have a run-on to kick that off, because as far as we know you guys love run-ons and they're a great way to develop our characters and work together. That's going to kick off on June 6th.

So, get ready. It will soon be the time for battle!

GroupMe

That was sort of long. That said, Summit has begun using the chat service GroupMe to communicate, and we've created a group there for the entire Clan. It takes about ten seconds to create a free account and join a group on GroupMe, and it works much better than IRC. It also works well on both computers and mobile devices, so you can connect from pretty much anywhere.

You can find the link to join our group here.

Clan Competitions

Finally, I'm going to list the currently running Clan competitions, since there are a few of them that just popped up. There's four running at the moment, in addition to the run-on that will start soon. There are also many competitions running for the entire 'Brotherhood, but in this update I'm focusing on the Clan ones.

First is Malik's weekly puzzle competition, in which you have to solve a jigsaw puzzle. This is probably the quickest and easiest of the bunch.

Next is the continuation of Jeric's Mind Games competitions, another ispy competiton, which is pretty quick and fun.

Then Macron has got two competitions, one for fiction, and one for graphics. The first is to develop your character in some way, and the second is to depict them artistically. Relatively simple instructions with a lot of possibilities!

End

That's it for this update. Shirai should have his regular Quaestor report out soon. Also, look out for more updates on the Orian Assemby as we get closer to the launch of the run-on. Join GroupMe! Get involved!
